Episode 94 Translation/Recap Part 1:  (Minutes 0:0 to 12:00)

 

We do not see what happens after DB's question to IY whether she was going to love him, and only see DB speeding away with her in the car.

 

YR tells JH that DB had taken off with IY. She thinks DB knows everything, as he asked her about the fake miscarriage, so he must have heard everything from HM. "What happens to IY now?" asks YR.

 

DB and IY are near a lake, and she says sorry. He wants to know what she is sorry for - the fake pregnancy thing or for not loving him? She says that everything right from the start was a lie. She got close to DB only out of a suspicion on Taeyeon. She was using his feelings, and make him love her. Like that wasn't enough, she even created the pregnancy lie to join the family, she admits. He says she should have talked to him. (DB is rather surprisingly calm, as he is apparently more sad and heartbroken than he is mad). He simply says he cannot forgive her and goes away.

 

IY comes home like a zombie, and just goes upstairs, saying "I am sorry" as HM asks where DB went.

 

HM tells BS that she told DB about the IY details. BS is glad that it was done. DB should be able to settle the IY matter. BS asks HM whether she told JH about his illness, because he gets the feeling that JH knows it. HM admits that she told him. BS is glad about that too. He sees now, that this was why JH didn't go to USA and is taking more interest in the company matters.

 

JH goes to the bar where he expected DB to be. DB asks if he had known about IY being SJ's daughter and about the fake pregnancy. JH says yes. DB says he only understands now, why JH did what he did at the hotel earlier (when he pulled IY away from DB). DB thinks that was to get him to drop IY altogether. JH doesn't try to correct him. DB thinks that is why JH started the funds investigation too. DB is angry that JH believed IY's story, rather than trust his 30 year brother. But JH says he isn't doing the investigation because of IY. JH was only looking for the truth and to prove that DB didn't do it. But even if DB had done it, he thought it was better for DB that it was JH who finds out, rather than IY. DB doesn't buy that line. He thinks JH is trying to push him out of the company, using the IY excuse. JH: "Brother!". DB: "Don't even call me brother. When you suspect me as a thief and murderer, how can I be a brother to you?".

 

DB tells JH that he is "sensing the pulse wrong" here. DB isn't concerned about that. DB: "If I had actually killed IY's dad, how would I even look at her? But I still love IY. Even after knowing that she joined the family to catch me, deceived me with a fake pregnancy, and tormented me". DB looks straight at JH while saying this. (This is an important line for us. Frankly, we have to now doubt if he indeed had not killed SJ, because he makes a valid point that he wouldn't still pursue IY if he did).

 

SG is still lying down and is out of sorts. CH is concerned. She also wants to know the details of IY's situation, and keeps trying to talk. Finally SG gets up and calls DM saying it is too noisy with the aunt's chatter. CH then goes to sleep in DM's room. DM is also not telling her anything. Instead DM asks her to set her up with that Lee Jeongju guy once more. CH doesn't really want to do it, and gets under the sheets to sleep, so DM manages to shut up the chatterbox.

 

HM brings a change of clothes for DB to his office. She wants to know what IY said. He just says he will handle the IY issue. More importantly, he wants HM to talk to BS and make JH not dig into the ultrasound drill matter. DB: "It is no good for us both, if he keeps digging". HM agrees to talk to BS. HM asks him to hurry up and send IY out.

Episode 94 Translation/Recap Part 2:  (Minutes 12:00 to 21:00)

 

IY asks JH for a favor - asking HM for just one thing. It's the last thing about her dad. IY had heard from the cops that HM was there at the time her dad died, and had called 119. IY just wants to leave, knowing that it wasn't DB's doing. JH tells her to leave this to him.

 

JH talks to HM at her office. He has confirmed from the cops that she had called 119. She had never said this to him, so he wants to hear exactly what happened. HM says it was just what she told told the cops. She had gone to thank him, and had found him down. JH: "Why didn't you tell me?". HM: "There was no need to tell". He tells her of IY's suspicions, and HM says she had talked to IY on it already. JH is upset that HM didn't talk openly about it right from the start. HM says that she was shocked and scared. Anyway, what she wants now is to have IY out, as quickly as possible. JH says that clearing up the misunderstandings on SJ's death is more important than getting IY out. HM says that it's just IY's imagination. SJ died from asthma. JH thinks that it would clearly be suspicious from that family's viewpoint. HM agrees that it may be so, but what makes her angry is what IY is doing. She hates to keep revisiting the old matter because of the IY issue.

 

Mr. Jo brings coffee for everybody, saying it is to comfort Mr. Yun, because the Chinese showroom project is totally foundering now. They talk about Director Kim embezzling money. Ms. Ha asks how much. Mr. Yun thinks it's an amount that normal staff like them can't even imagine. Basically it's just office gossip.

 

IY goes to YR's office. A fairly non-confrontational chat between them. IY pleads with YR to just tell her one thing. Who was the owner of that folder phone? If YR can just tell her that, IY will forgive YR for everything she did - both as Hong SeonHwa and as Chae YuRan. YR tries to put some sense into IY, asking why it is so important. Was SJ's death important enough to throw IY's life away like this? IY says it is that important for her. Initially it was because of her dad, but now it's no longer so.  Now it is because of DB. If she leaves now without clearing the doubts on DB, she will feel apologetic to DB all her life. IY: "Who was the folder phone's owner?"... YR doesn't answer but says, "So what can you do if DB were the perpetrator? Can you be wrathful to him? You have done him wrong too, you know!". IY: "I just want to know the truth". YR: "I am sorry but I just don't remember if I got a cll from that phone or not". IY: "Seonhwa!". YR: "I am sorry. No matter how much I want to be your friend, I can't lie, you see". IY gets nowhere again (and YR does a great job of looking sincere while lying here!).

 

JH finds IY walking like a lost soul, and tells her that he heard nothing new from HM. IY: "I am just like a fool, right?". JH: "I have sent people to China, so just wait a bit". IY is like she has given up, and says, "No. Let us just stop here. I'm going to beg for forgiveness from DB and leave the house today. Thanks for everything, and I'm sorry". JH: "I'm going to look into this to the bitter end". IY is clearly touched, and says, "You are still believing me?". JH: "If Uncle were alive now, he would ask me to help you". She doesn't know if she should cry or not, and just walks away.

 

CH bugs SG again, asking her to get back to her business, and only manages to make SG decide on what to do. She goes straight to the Taeyeon house.

Episode 94 Translation/Recap Part 3:  (Minutes 21:00 to Episode End)

 

SG tells HM that she came there to take IY out of there. HM asks Maid Nam to show her to IY's room.

 

IY talks to DB. IY: "Thanks for coming out to see me. I know it's tough for you to see me. Still, I thought I should talk to you before leaving. I will be leaving from the house today. I can no longer be by your side. I will wrap up quickly at work also. I only know now how much you loved me. That's why I can hardly take this. I think I'm unable to even say sorry or ask for forgiveness". DB says nothing.

 

IY is walking along the street, and Maid Nam calls to tell her about her mom being in her room and packing up.  She hails a cab, and we see that DB was quietly following her.

 

At the Taeyeon house, SG had packed IY's bag and says sorry to HM when IY comes in. She wants IY to apologize to HM. IY says she was anyway going to do that and leave today, but she wants SG to go for now. But SG wants her to kneel down right there and properly beg for forgiveness. IY is stunned. Before she could do anything, SG herself kneels down and apologizes for not raising IY properly, with IY asking her not to do that and that she was going to kneel. And DB comes in. SG is all over IY yelling at her to kneel down and beg. IY kneels down and SG keeps slapping IY to beg. IY says she was sorry. SG also begs. HM says, "I understand. Please take IY and go". SG apologizes to DB also and leaves with IY. That is that!

 

SG is lying down at home, with IY by her side. IY keeps going on blaming IY for her bad choices in life. IY says she had to do this, because she was sorry to her Dad for bringing SeonHwa into the house and causing the family harm. SG tells her that she and SJ had never blamed her for that. It was deliberate, and was to avoid putting a burden on her. They keep talking, but nothing serious here. Just venting all their feelings and crying.

 

Outside, DM is crying too, but the aunt still doesn't know the details and DM won't tell her. CH says she is frustrated to death, not knowing what is up.

 

And the door bell rings. DM finds that it is DB outside!  DB asks if IY is inside. Just as DM tries to say she isn't there, the aunt comes out and escorts him inside, calling IY.

 

SG is surprised to see him. DB: "As I couldn't properly greet you earlier, I have come to greet you, Mother. I am Kang Dong Bin".  He smiles at IY who is shocked. [End of Episode]

SG handled things all wrong and I do not like she wanted her to kneel and beg. What will she do when it comes out that DB did physically hurt JS or said something that caused the man to hit his head. Why do they keep saying asthma attack? Are they insinuating that he had an asthma attack and then hit his head and died? I still think that DB hurt JS and ran leaving that man to bleed out in that shed. If he had not done something HM would not be reacting the way she is. HM is hiding what DB did. BS needs to learn the truth as well of why IY was really there. I can't stand that they are hiding that but talking up the fake pregnancy and lies. IY was wrong but at the same time DB and HM did something bad here.

 

DB is devious enough to lie about not doing anything and then wanting to have the man's daughter. If he has done nothing but steal the man's idea then he would not be trying to bury that Drill project. Something is going to blow his lies out of the water. Either JH will find something or YR will get so mad and tell. YR thinks she will be able to continue on but she is going to get outed for what she and DB tried to do concerning JH. YR nor DB will get the people they want in the end.

 

Since IY has come this far she and JH need to continue to dig until they get the full truth. Since  they stole JS's idea and then tried to use it and it failed and then tried to buried it within the company then the company needs to take a hit for not doing what it should and coming clean or getting permission the right way to use it. They have cheated that family.

 

DB to me is crazy and creepy and he keeps trying to use the excuse to JH that they are trying to kick him out of the company when no one is doing that. Why is he showing up at IY's house? SG is not going to accept him and SG making IY be sorry to him or IY having her own guilt to him will only make this man think he can guilt her to be with him again. Once he gets that she has no feelings for him and never will be able to because JH is in her heart he will want to put whatever dirty plan in place and take that company from BS and JH.

I guess there is an outside chance that he had an asthma attack and fell, and bled from his head.  I don't know if one can die just like that.  I don't think that is what happened.  More probable is that DB was stealing the design blueprints (the question is how he even knew that SJ was developing this scheme), then SJ saw it, DB pushed him, SJ fell and he hit his head. HM walked in and found DB.  We just saw HM tell him that "anyway, it was not intentional".  DB probably made her believe that.

You may be right. He is devious enough to think that by continuing to pursue her, she would believe that he couldn't have killed SJ, because she can't expect even the most devious guy to be able to kill a man and pursue his daughter.  But DB could be THAT devious. I am sure he will tell her the same thing that he just told JH that he wouldn't be able to look at IY, had he killed her dad.  She might even believe it.  Actually IY is already showing signs that she is beginning to fall for his tricks.

Episode 95 Translation/Recap Part 1:  (Minutes 0:0 to 12:00)

 

IY wants DB to leave but SG asks him to sit down. The aunt wants to know who he is, but SG sends her away (poor CH still can't get any details on what is going on; haha!). DB apologizes and SG says she should be apologizing. SG says they (meaning SG) will not trouble the Taeyeon family anymore, but DB doesn't want that and says he will be back again for a formal greeting. He walks out with IY and sees DM and says a friendly Hi to DM. (He probably remembers meeting her in the Ob/Gyn parking garage but doesn't show it). JM sees DB and I leaving and asks DM who the guy is. She says it's a long story to tell.

 

IY asks why DB came, and reminds him that they are over. DB basically says 'not so fast'. He is not over her, and doesn't want to be. She reminds him that all she has done is to hurt him. He says the biggest hurt will be for her to leave him. She had promised not to leave him, which he reminds her too.

 

BS cannot believe this. Did IY's mom know about it, he asks HM. HM says that she was also duped. He doesn't want to just let this go. He wants HM to call IY and SG back (apparently to take further steps, that he doesn't say). HM asks him not to do that, and finally tells him the whole story. IY is SJ's daughter, and SJ passed away when he had developed an ultrasound drill. This shocks BS who says, "Don't tell me she suspected our company stole it??". HM says that in addition to that she has suspicions on her father's death too. BS can't believe that she came to his family to try to find such a criminal! HM says JH seems to have listened to IY's view and was helping her. BS: "So that is why JH was looking into the ultrasound drill, huh?". HM says it will do no good to DB and JH to try to push this under the rug. How about clearing it up, she asks. Now BS becomes cautious. There cannot be problems later. He wants to find out why IY thought like this. He wants to it done cleanly. He will handle it, says BS.

 

YR goes to the room that IY vacated, and thinks to herself - "IY, just don't come back. Only then can you and I survive". JH looks at her coming out of IY's room a bit suspiciously, as YR says she can't believe that IY has left, and this new thing that IY is not an orphan. Even IY's mom didn't know it, so YR cannot understand why IY would do this. JH think IY must have had her reasons. YR: "Come to thik of it, she has acted suspicious a few times. Even at Yangpyeong, she never told you about her family, right?". JH puts an end to it, saying, "Let's not say things about somebody who isn't even here".

 

DM tells IY that she will resign from her Taeyeon job, and wants IY to do that. IY says that she may need to rethink everything. IY: "If DB were really the culprit, how would he be like this, I wonder". (So, whatever DB is trying is working on IY who in my opinion keeps flippig between being smart/clever and stupid/foolish). DM agrees with her. If she were him, she wouldn't be able to be like this, after being betrayed. IY: "Maybe I was wrong. Maybe it wasn't Dad's technique, and could well be from China, you know". DM thinks that another possibility is that somebody else in Taeyeon could've stolen it.

 

DB tells everybody at breakfast that he went to meet IY and SG last night. His feelings on IY hasn't changed. IY was apologetic about not being able to say a proper farewell to HM and BS, so he will bring her back for that later. BS wants a chat with DB. HM also leaves the table. YR tells JH that she finds "brother-in-law" to be acting weird.

 

BS is not happy at DB saying that he still wants to marry IY despite all this. BS asks if IY thinks the same. DB says no, and BS feels that to only be natural, if she has any conscience at all. DB says he can understand IY. DB: "How wronged she must've felt, to have done all this? She is in a pitiable shape". DB, whether he is acting out an elaborate script or not, is looking entirely sincere in saying that IY as as precious to him like HM and BS.

Okay, I am back from my travels abroad.  Will try to catch up now, as we are 4.5 episodes behind...

 

Episode 95 Translation/Recap Part 2:  (Minutes 12:0 to 21:00)

 

SG doesn't want IY to go to the company at all, though IY says she has to go there to help wrap up her work. The aunt has even cleaned up IY's shoes, as she wants to suck up to IY, thinking she will end up in a rich family. She is so obvious, that DM catches her for that. CH asks IY to bring her boyfriend again. SG tells her that she has no such boyfriend, and CH is puzzled.

 

HM asks Maid Nam to clean up IY's room, and keep it ready for BS's sister to use whenever she comes from abroad.

 

IY meets BS in his office. He reminds her of when she said "yes" to his question way back about whether she trusted DB. It was his mistake, he feels, to have not asked her if she had other ideas in mind. She says sorry. He says DB wants to still have her with him. She says she doesn't deserve that, after suspecting him to be a criminal. BS asks if she has any evidence. She says she is still not sure. She even says that she would like to believe DB. BS says that even if DB were to be found guilty, it doesn't mean he will forgive her. She was wrong all along in her actions, and she betrayed the family that sincerely trusted her. But BS then surprises her by asking her to stay on and continue her investigation. She will face consequences if she is proven wrong. In any event, he doesn't even want to see her face, once this matter is finished. he thanks him.

 

IY tells JH that BS wasn't angry, and even allowed her to stay on to complete her investigation.  She asks what she should start with, and JH asks her not to do anything. He will first talk to Director Kim. He doesn't want her to join him, to meet Mr. Kim.

 

JH meets Mr. Kim, who isn't interested in saying anything. JH says he knows that Mr. Kim didn't do it alone. Whatever promise Mr. Kim has been given, JH thinks that promise will be hard to keep. Mr. Kim says it was nothing like that. He was responsible for everything. So this chat goes nowhere for the time being. He asks JH to not try to meet him, as he has nothing to talk about.

Thanks for the continued recaps.. Hope your trip was fun.. 

 

I get the feeling that BS will either find out exactly what DB did and it will push him all the way into his illness or by the time they find out what DB did BS is too far along in his illness to even realize it. The sad part is DB has done so much wrong but he feels wronged. It is a huge betrayal for him to be throwing his father in BS's face without talking to BS about what happened. His words to BS about if he remembered his father only showed how he has some false idea in his head that BS is the reason his father went to jail and he lost his mother. Even if BS is responsible for his father going to jail or his father taking the fall for something and going to jail BS has tried to pay back what was owed by raising the man's son like his own. ITs just too bad that DB has let jealousy cloud his view and his feelings of never fitting in or being loved when that is not true. 

 

It totally creeps me out to see him still trying to be with IY. HE is going to get a huge slap down to learn about their past friendship and their love. I see YR telling it since she has been kicked out herself. Especially if DB goes on about IY. What she fails to see is she still has dirt that will ruin her or send her to jail possibly.

Episode 95 Translation/Recap Part 3:  (Minutes 21:0 to Episode End)

 

The P&D team is discussing where to eat lunch, and DB comes in. Mr. Jo asks if they could all have lunch with him. DB says he can't, as he has other plans. He then asks IY to go for a lunch with him, surprising her.  The other team members are totally shocked now at what is going on between IY and DB.  As JH walks in and IY walks out, Mr. Jo tells him that she went for a lunch with DB.

 

When IY objects, DB says he no longer wants to keep the plans a secret from the staff. He tries hard to convince her.  She asks if he can still trust and accept her. He says he can, but she says she can't do that. She doesn't love him. He says it's fine even if she doesn't love him. He will let her do whatever she wants.  IY says she doesn't want that. She wants him to rather hate and curse her, and not forgive her. DB: "You are really cruel". He acts like he is about to cry.  She says she is somebody who cannot (or doesn't deserve to) love DB or be loved by him. She then tells him about her past with JH at Yangpyeong. She loved JH.  DB: "So the woman JH couldn't forget... was you?". She says that is why she is not somebody who can be with DB.

 

JH tells IY that he couldn't convince Mr. Kim, but he had expected it to not be possible in one attempt. Then IY tells him about what she just told DB.  JH thinks it was better for DB to hear it from IY rather than from somebody else, as he was bound to find out someday anyway. IY is still very sorry about it, and regrets all she did.  And DB watches their chat from a distance.

 

Mr. Kim calls DB. He tells him about JH meeting him, and he wants to have lunch. DB tries to brush him off, saying it could be trouble for both to be eating together.  But Mr. Kim didn't like that, and basically says he is disappointed.  He wants money for the couple of years that he will be wasting playing golf. DB asks him if he is giving a threat. Mr. Kim hangs up, asking for his money.  DB is pissed.  (So JH did manage to get some friction to start off between the two, by scaring Mr. Kim into asking for the promised money now itself)

 

YR has asked IY to meet at a roadside stall. YR tries to act like a friend.  IY is't really buying it though. IY tells her that BS has agreed to her staying in the company. YR says DB seems to still be planning to marry her. IY says it's not so. YR thinks that DB is not such a pushover. He will find whatever method needed to get what he wants. YR says this was just an advise as a friend, but IY looks at her, clearly wondering how YR can know so much about DB.

 

JH goes to DB's room and asks for a chat. He wants DB to let go of IY. He thinks DB and IY are ill-fated.  DB says it was IY who made the fate ill. JH agrees with it. IY was clearly wrong, but DB should stop now, as she herself realizes that she was wrong. DB: "Why? So, if I were to stop, is it for you to have her, as she was your woman earlier?". JH doesn't answer. DB: "Isn't that the thinking behind you both trying to push me out with an ultrasound drill excuse?".  JH can only yell, "brother!". But DB continues - "But you have got it all wrong. The ill-fated one for IY is not me, but you. It can happen with me, but it absolutely cannot happen with you, I mean".  JH asks what he meant by that. DB: "Try asking Mother... why you and IY can never happen. She is the one who knows best the reason why you both are never a possibility, after all"  [End of Episode]

Episode 96 Translation/Recap Part 1:  (Minutes 0:0 to 12:30)

 

DB tells JH to talk to HM she is "the one who has the best knowledge" of why JH and IY just cannot be together.

 

HM is surprised when BS says he asked IY to continue at the company. Because she said she wanted to show the right courtesy to DB by making sure by herself that he wasn't the perpetrator. She said she didn't want to live her life thinking of DB as a potential thief, so he allowed her to continue. HM acts unperturbed for now.  She just wants IY to be out ASAP.  And YR brings a box of coffee that she claims her grandma sent for HM and BS. YR puts on her cue little girl act too. HM asks Maid Nam to take the coffee to the kitchen and she looks suspiciously at a YR who seems to know of Main Nam's suspicion.

 

The aunt asks SG to push on with IY and the older some at Taeyeon, but SG isn't interested.  Rather she wants to wrap up her shop and go away somewhere with IY. CH is upset and sad about it.

 

DM asks IY on what the plan is, about DB and JH. IY thinks she can't do much, as she has wronged both of them. DM sympathizes with her, saying she is an accomplice too. She talks about going and living with IY at the Jeju island (which is where her parents are, as we saw earlier).  They can run a coffees shop, she thinks.  This doesn't look serious though.

 

Maid Nam gives HM the yellow diary that IY left behind in her room, as the packing was done by her mom in a hurry. HM looks at it but doesn't seem to read it, as she thinks she knows what may be in there (though we would wonder if she would find there some info on YR that she doesn't know of).

 

HM sits and wonders why DB said IY's and his is an ill-fated relationship.  IY brings some coffee and apologizes again.  She says she should have given up her plan when she first came to the Taeyeon house and saw JH there, which she couldn't. JH says that she should start again at some other place, once the current matters are taken care of (Actually what he said can perhaps be stretched to mean "we can restart," but he probably didn't mean it, though IY had a puzzled look)

 

YR tells BS that there is talk among the directors, now that Directors Jeon and Kim have resigned, on whether a sibling fight has started. She asks if it isn't better to just push the ultrasound drill issue under the rug. She tries to say that there may not be much of a funds issue, based on her review.  For the first time, we see BS throwing a suspicious look at YR.  He says that it is more than a funds issue. IY suspects the technology to have been stolen from her dad and is investigating it. IY acts surprised and BS asks her to act like she doesn't know it, because JH will handle things. YR tries to say that it will be tough on DB who hasn't given up on IY, to see her at the company. BS throws an even more supicious look at YR now. He basically asks her not to get involved in this.

 

YR updates DB on her chat with BS. When she says that she doesn't expect IY to give up easily, DB also looks at her suspiciously, asking, "it seems you know a lot about IY". He is not happy that she knew about IY being JH's woman at Yangpyeong and kept it from him. YR claims to have found that out only recently. DB is angry at her for keeping the dementia matter a secret from him too. DB says he wondered how she got so close to BS so fast, and now knows it was because of the dementia thing. She says she had to do it "to survive". DB just asks her to get out of his office, even as she tries to say that she is the only one on DB's side. She leaves as he yells at her to leave.  DB goes out and sees a happy-looking IY with her colleagues. He thinks - "so you would say sorry to me, but just won't trust me, huh? What should I be doing to you? Shall I make you live all your life feeling sorry to me, but not knowing anything that you want to know?"

Episode 96 Translation/Recap Part 2:  (Minutes 12:30 to 20:30)

 

JH meets HM and tells her that IY has told DB about the Yangpyeong villa affair, to get DB to give up. JH tells her that DB then told him something strange.  When JH told him about DB and IY being ill-fated, DB said that JH and IY are even more ill-fated. JH wants to know the reason why he said that, as DB asked him to ask HM. HM acts exasperated - "why on earth are you guys doing this to me? When you know for what purpose IY joined our family, and when I know your brother wanted to marry her, you think I will allow this? Neither you nor DB can ever be with IY" (she twists it nicely, as an attempt to ask for permission to date IY, and reacts in that way. Smart pivot by the sharp lady, to not answer the question!). JH: "Is that all?". IY: "Why do you make this so hard on your mom? For you guys, only IY matters and your mom means nothing? When you know how hard it is for Mom and Dad because of IY, why do you all do this?".  JH can only say a sorry.  [Fantastic writing here. Just as we wondered how HM would wiggle out of this jam, the writer made her do it effortlessly!]

 

JH finds IY going to meet Director Kim as she has no way but to pry out something from him. JH doesn't think Mr. Kim would be easy, and it could be dangerous too. She thinks Mr. Kim is very cordial to her, as he knows of her as DB's fiancee as of now. JH wants her to call him after the meeting.

 

IY goes to the golf driving range, throwing on all her smiling charms to talk to Mr. Kim. She surprises him when she says she wasn't sent by DB. She says she is there to comfort him, because she feels he may end up having to do golfing for a while. She knows that Mr. Kim expects DB to be a company successor.  But she has info that it won't be DB but JH. Mr. Kim is shocked.  After IY leaves, Mr. Kim calls DB and he doesn't pick up. Then he gets a call from JH.

 

CH is reluctant to go with SG to close the rental contract for the shop. She can't believe that SG is this much against IY being with a chaebol son. CH tries to argue SG out of this, but it doesn't really work.

 

HM meets IY and returns her yellow book to her. She asks IY to re-start, forgetting everything about her dad's matter, about the Taeyeon family, and everything with DB and JH. She offers to convince DB to give up.  IY returns the ancestral ring that HM had given her as the senior DIL. IY says the hardest thing when she was in the family was seeing the sincerity from HM and BS. She bows and leaves.

Episode 96 Translation/Recap Part 3:  (Minutes 21:00 to Episode End)

 

DB sees IY returning to the office, and she says she was out for some work. He wants a chat. He again asks her to be with him. After all, the JH affair was in the past, and she was able to handle staying in the same house with him. She says it was tough for her to do that. DB: "But that wasn't because of JH but because you felt sorry towards me, and it was tormenting you". IY: "True. So let us stop". DB says it will be tough for a while but it will be fine as time passes. They can both try. IY: "People's feelings do not change just because they try, do they?". Now DB says, "So it torments you to see me like this? Fine, then, take it as getting punished... for cheating and making use of me". IY says it is not because of JH but because she never trusted DB.  Now DB has nothing to say.

 

SG tells JM and DM that she has put up the house and store for sale.  DM and JM are not surprised and JM asks where she plans to go.  Somewhere far from Seoul, says SG.  DM suggests going to Jeju. The aunt is totally upset that they are all fine with this, and she is the only one who wants them to stay in Seoul. (We have to feel bad for CH, that SG, DM and JM just doesn't give her any respect for being the kind soul that she is!).

 

HM asks DB why he said what he said to JH. DB: "I thought he had feelings for IY.  Mother, don't you also know the reason why they are an absolute no-no?". HM says she met IY and that he should stop it if he is still in love with IY.  When he knows he and IY cannot happen, it just cannot be love, thinks HM. HM: "How can you even live with IY?".  Now DB reveals his devious thinking - "It is my way of atonement. Mother, aren't you also sorry towards IY?  Then you have to take responsibility and have her as the Taeyon DIL and the future Taeyeon madam. Isn't that the proper atonement?".  HM: "Unbelievable!  How can you do this kind of a thing with IY?". DB: "Have you forgotten? We are co-criminals. You and I need to do the best for IY and that family, for the rest of our lives". HM: "Unbelievable". DB: "If you don't like the word atonement, then take it s insurance. There is no better insurance than IY for you and me now. Only if I keep IY with me, can we bury the matter for ever". HM can only say a "what??"... DB: "Plus, there is JH. Why do you think I gave those eyes to JH?... JH's eyes are now insurance, you see. Those eyes need to be there for you to not betray me later, right?... Like right now".  HM can only mumble, "you! how can you...".  DB says she needn't worry. Even if IY goes to the cops, nothing will happen, as long as HM stays quiet. A look of disgust, distress and anger, all at the same time, is etched on HMs face.

 

Mr. Kim meets JH.  He again says the ultrasound matter was all his doing, and beats around the bush. JH basically says that he is sure of Mr. Kim to have cut a deal with DB. Again Mr. Kim talks in circles, hinting that there isn't much chance for JH to be the successor instead of DB. JH asks what exactly he really wants. Mr. Kim hints at what DB has offered him, without saying it clearly. And JH gets call from his investigator that he has found the CEO of the "Neo-tech China" company mentioned in the ultrasound drill papers (which IY had confirmed to be a ball-pen company, as we know). JH asks where he got the ultrasound scheme from, and Mr. Kim says "Neo-tech China". JH openly tells him that there isn't much chance for Mr. Kim to get the high positions (like DB has promised) if JH were to become the successor. Rather the whole responsibility for a US$ 6.5 million failed project will be on Mr. Kim. "Then, see you again". JH leaves, dropping that threat, just as Mr. Kim tries to call him back wanting to talk more.

 

IY calls a number (seemingly from the call list she has from YR's phone?). "Hello?" says the other end, so it is somebody in the US or somewhere (it is ALWAYS "yeoboseyo" from anybody in Korea). IY says she was calling, as recommended by Chae Yu Ran.  The woman doesn't know, till IY says that she was introduced by Hong Seon Hwa. IY: "I am looking at a marriage. I need a US grandma, like Ms. Yu Ran had.  I am also an orphan so the groom's family would like if I had a rich grandma".  The woman says she called the right place. IY just needs to forward the name to be set up, and the family details.  Just send the script and she will set up whatever IY wants it to be. The payment can be case-by-case like how YR did it, or can be in installments, says the woman! [End of Episode]

Episode 97 Translation/Recap Part 1:  (Minutes 0:0 to 12:30)

 

The scam organizer woman asks IY for her name, and IY ends the call saying she will call back. IY wonders why DB would do this with Seon Hwa. IY tells DM that YR's grandma story was all a lie.

 

YR talks to BS and HM about exercises they both can do together, and tells DB that JH seems to have gone somewhere, as she looked for him at his office. Upstairs later, DB gets angry at her for not staying close to JH. She says she is more worried now about JH being with IY, now that she can't monitor IY like when she was at the Taeyeon house. She asks DB if he is going to continue pursuing IY.  She thinks IY doesn't love DB. And JH comes up, saying he was out catching some air.

 

SG tells IY that the house has been put up for sale. She asks IY if she has resigned. IY says she will do it soon. SG tells her that it is a long life, and advises her to move on with her life.

 

JH tells BS wat he has found out. The CEO of the company "Neo-tech China" that brought the ultrasound scheme, is the husband of Mr. Kim's younger sister. He suspects if this was set up to create a secret (slush) fund. He is looking more into the company's background in China and Korea, and will know more soon. BS wonders if DB has anything to do with this, and asks JH to keep digging. If the ultrasound scheme was obtained like IY suspected, BS wants things to be handed over to their legal affairs office.

 

JH calls IY into his office, just as Mr. Jo is again talking about sensing some issue between JH and DB.  JH tells IY about what BS said, and about needing to keep the pressure on Mr. Kim. IY wonders who must be behind it all, and JH says they still need proper evidence to establish that and go to the cops. IY says it would've been great if only she knew the owner of that folder phone.

 

IY again meets YR. She tells YR that Mr. Kim is being put under pressure. So the person behind it all might get revealed. (IY is trying to scare YR into revealing the folder phone owner's name, I suppose). YR: "Knowing the chairman, he won't forgive anybody doing something like this, even if it is his own son".  YR asks why IY is saying this to her.  IY: "To ask you to be careful too. Keep hidden what you need to hide, but if you should reveal something, do it advance. Don't fail like me".

 

YR goes to DB and updates him that BS seems to know things. JH has got even the Chinese police involved and has caught the CEO of Neo-tech China, who is now being questioned. YR says she is worried if Mr. Kim will continue to keep his mouth shut, and also about her own identity being revealed and DB running into trouble. DB asks her to not worry. He says he still has the "dementia card" to play. He knows that BS doesn't want that to come out now. YR looks rather disgusted.

 

As YR walks out, IY is waiting outside, asking "so did you give him a good report?". She wants YR to have a chat with her. IY then plays the recording of the phone call to the grandma-scam organizer. YR is caught hands-down!...  IY: "You and DB were not in love or anything. You want me to guess why DB brought you into that house, and what you have been doing?". YR still tries to act dumb. IY: "When DB brought you to Korea and you approached Mother, JH was blind. What might have DB been doing by sending you to stick around JH? What should I think you were doing?". IY asks her how she could do this to JH. IY: "I never trust you, but I did believe it when you said you loved JH". YR says that it is indeed true that she loves JH. She claims she isn't doing things just on DB's instructions. Plus, it was JH's sake that DB stuck her by JH's side. YR: "I don't know the details, but it seems it will be dangerous for JH to be here, and so DB was trying to send him to the U.S. using me".

 

IY asks what danger she implies. YR: "Maybe because of that falling accident, but he said JH is in danger. That's why he wants him gone to USA. So, though I joined the family with bad intentions at first, now it is different. Now I love JH. So I am working hard to keep JH safe". YR goes to her office, all worried [though it seems she did manage to confuse IY and stall her a bit, for now]

Episode 97 Translation/Recap Part 2:  (Minutes 12:30 to 22:00)

 

IY wonders, "it's because of the falling accident that DB wanted to keep JH safe, she said?"... [IY is just not seeing the logic there, naturally]... And she gets a call from Maid Nam who is at the office, wanting to meet her.

 

IY says sorry for leaving the house without even saying a goodbye. Maid Nam says it was fine. She is just an employee there after all. But she respects BS and HM a lot, so the whole thing did shock her. Maid Nam is evidently cold to IY now. IY thanks her for all the help. The maid asks if IY found more about YR's grandma, and if she is actually hiding what she has found out. IY: "YR herself will be talking to HM. So please wait till then".

 

BS comes to the P&D team, shocking the staff. He wants to talk to JH and IY. He asks IY whether she has found the answers she wanted. She says she is only looking for the truth on his father's death and the assault on her brother. BS: "It is tough to find that at the company. The rest should be handed over the investigation authorities". JH says there is no proper evidence, to hand over to the cops. BS asks if that isn't proof that there was nothing there anyway. He again takes a dig at IY for coming to the house without even any evidence but just a suspicion. IY says that it wasn't that there was no evidence at any point. The evidence disappeared, that's all. It was when her brother was out to see the owner of a folder phone that he got hit. BS says it is not an issue that the company can resolve, whether there was evidence or not. BS leaves, saying "just wrap it up like you have got back your father's technique". [It is like they are ready to give IY's family the rights on that technology. But this scene was a bit curious. I'm not sure what BS intended from all this. Looks like he wants IY not to do anything more, but rather have JH investigate it]

 

JH goes and quietly asks BS if he knew that it was HM who found IY's father and reported it. BS is surprised, and asks if JH is suspecting HM.  JH says IY does not suspect HM for anything, but she thinks something did happen out there. BS says it's his own work to find out more on matters to do with HM. BS goes to his office, and recalls HM telling him that she was busy with JH's surgery at that time and only thought later about thanking at least the family for SJ's help. He also recalls her asking him to bury the matter, as it will otherwise be no good for JH or DB.

 

IY tells SG and JM that Taeyeon seems to be ready to acknowledge that the ultrasound scheme was SJ's. They are trying to find out what went wrong. SG is not that happy, and JM tries to tell her that this is at least some good that came out of everything. He thinks IY can get some fees for the rights or compensation.  But SG wants JM and IY to forget it all and move on. SG: "So, everything is over with this, right?". IY says a "yes" only after SG insists, and that too only very unconvincingly.

 

The aunt is still puzzled why they are rejecting a chaebol son, and going to Jeju instead, like being sent on exile. DM tells her that it is no exile, but just a trip to Jeju. CH now wonders if SG got some payment, like in the dramas, where the chaebol families pay off people not to marry their sons. Like a $100K or $200K?... DM just gets annoyed and walks away.

 

DM asks IY how much of compensation Taeyeon will pay for the technology. IY says she doesn't know and doesn't care. She first wants to find out what happened to her dad. DM tries to convince IY to leave the company now, but IY doesn't agree. "If it were your father, would you be able to?", asks IY. Now DM has no answer. IY thinks that BS is doing this to stop the suspicions on the company. She too doesn't want to live with suspicions, so she isn't giving up yet.

Episode 97 Translation/Recap Part 3:  (Minutes 22:00 to Episode End)

 

Maid Nam doesn't wait like IY asked, and simply tells HM that her sister has found Ms. Diana Gwon in the U.S. to be unaware of any Chae Yu Ran. Also, Ms. Gwon has no grand-daughter but only a daughter and a grandson. Maid Nam tells HM that she had asked IY to look into it. She felt IY knows something but wasn't talking. IY had only asked to wait till YR herself talked to HM.

 

HM cannot believe what she just heard. She calls somebody (probably her office manager?) who had sent a thank-you note to Ms. Gwon once before, and asks for somebody to be sent in person to go and thank Ms. Gwon this time for the coffee gift.

 

YR comes home, and HM is rather quiet. As YR is about to go upstairs, HM tells her that she would like to talk to the grandma and thank her for the gift. YR says the grandma is on a trip somewhere. Maybe to Spain, but she isn't sure. She will need to call the grandma to find out. HM asks her to find the contact number and tell her.

 

YR asks JH if anything has been found in IY's investigation. Nothing yet, says JH. He thinks it will be over soon. He goes to the library, to go over a file that he says is from the legal affairs office (the "Legal Team" -- as every office is a "team" in Korea). YR is relieved, as she thinks, "so she still has not said anything to JH".

 

CG brings BS home, and BS says - "You know about my illness, right? People are supposed to have it easy when they get old. But why is it not getting easy for me?"

 

BS tells HM that IY seems to have been right. It does appear that IY's dad's technique was stolen. HM asks if it was done by Director Kim. BS says it needs to be found who it was that asked Mr. Kim to do it. BS: "IY could be suspecting DB to be behind Mr. Kim". HM: "You don't say!"... She asks HM what he plans to do if it is DB. He thinks a worse thing is IY's suspicion that her father's death and the hit on her brother were done in order to steal the technology. He looks at HM to see if she would say anything.

 

IY shows DB the file from the legal affairs office. He thinks this will affect the company image. DB looks at it and knows that he is in trouble.

 

HM tells DB in his room, that BS seems to know things. She asks directly if he made a secret fund using SJ's technology. DB says nothing. HM: "He could be suspecting you to be behind Mr. Kim". DB says it will be alright (which means he didn't deny it). She doesn't agree, but he claims that nothing will come out. He seems to have something in mind, but HM is puzzled.

 

During a family fruits session, DB suddenly says that the spring time news on personnel changes in the business world are expected to be shocking. JH says that he too heard of some company's chairman stepping down and handing over to professional management. DB adds that it is because of that chairman's being uneasy about entrusting the company with the sons-in-law, with the son being too young in his 20s. BS feels that it could sometimes be good for a company to do that.  DB: "That would've been fine, but based on unconfirmed rumors I hear, it seems it's because of dementia. He is doing this before the sons-in-law find out and make their plans.  A whole enterprise's chairman to have dementia... is a lethal matter, isn't it?". [End of Episode]
