@furu.vu217, why is Adu killing General Gao and he is killing her back with his sword?  the drama version of adu's death is completely different.  Can you tell us why?

Sorry i still not watch full yet so i can't reply for you >__<

The keyword "小枫自刎 (XF suicide)" is trending no.1 hot search weibo. This drama is really so hot in China

because they can't keep making LCY evil.. don't you see all the softening is happening to make sure LCYin has a backstory for every action and is sympathetic character

Just finished watching all 4 episodes...it is so surreal how it's finally over. I'm not as addicted to this as I was with Ashes of Love, but it is because this drama definitely evoked a wild range of feelings. The love shared between the leads is so much harder to describe. Anyway, does anyone know where I can find the alternate ending if there is one?

The one I just watched left me very UNSATISFIED. :( I already knew what the ending would be...but seeing it in action makes my heart hurt so much.

What happens to Sese?

She helped XF to leave the palace. She said she didn’t do it for XF but for herself, because she knows that XF doesn’t love LCY but she loves LCY and LCY loves XF. But they got caught and brought back to the palace. I think after that LCY just abandon Sese, by not visiting her pavillion anymore.

Just finished all 4 episodes tonight. Feeling really heavy hearted, goodbye Lee Cheng Yin/Gu Xiao Wu and Qu Xiao Feng, it has been an avalanche of emotions and heartaches since I caught up with this drama few weeks ago.

Both leads have been nothing short of amazing and I really buy into their pain.

Note to self: Never ever get too invested into a drama... Already having difficulty sleeping tonight :tears:

Side note: Sooo looking forward to CXX's next drama! My new boy drug, sighh.. How can anyone be so heartbreakingly good looking, ridiculously young and still be such an amazing actor? I felt really really sad for him...

Spoiler

According to SeSe's father and Gao Xian, apparently SeSe went mad due to abandonment. It's really sad though, that LCY told SeSe to her face that he has always used her all along. I think that just killed it for XF and it dawned on her that she really married a manipulative monster....

Could someone tell me what's the deal with the emperor, what does LCY tell his father? What did his father do?

Spoiler

The emperor just went crazy after Ming Yue killed herself and the baby in her tummy. LCY told his father that he has never ever treated him as a son ever since young because he was worried that LCY would be closer to the Gao clan. It is only now when he is old he feels like a father. He also said that his father was the one who taught him to be manipulative with people he loved and that was what he inherited from his father. In all his glory during the emperor's rein manipulating and being extra wary of people, he probably never would have expected to have fallen (sick) over an escort(mingyue) *and an unborn child. Basically LCY telling his dad that he vows not to be like him in the future and will be a good king...

Thank you so much for the explanation. Could I also ask you what was the exchange between the emperor and Ming Yue's father before she killed herself on the same episode 50?

I really feet like there were so many things to say after watching the last 4eps, but it was impossible because I'm still very touched now.

It was really grateful to the scriptwriter to change the ending like that, because finally there was a consolation that XF had gone. XF was able to say love to GXW, with LCY. LCY was able to be with her before she died. XF can die in the arms of the person she loves. From then on, LCY lived alone to old, no children, no concubines.

In the end, there was only one person in LCY's heart, forever XF.

What did General Pei Zhao say to LCY in the end? I understood only a few sentences.

The gradual fading of LCY screaming for XF to his dull, lonely face so many years later absolutely breaks my heart the more I watch that scene. Although one part of me knows that that was bound to happen given LCY's decisions, another part of me really just wanted to see XF and LCY grow old together. Life in the palace is so long, isolating, and cold....people might disagree with me, but LCY does not deserve to spend the rest of his life alone. Idt anyone does.. it pains me even more knowing that in the end, he tries to make himself believe that XF is still alive in Xi State. In the end, he only has XF in his heart...he finally knows that despite becoming King, getting revenge, etc. his life would be lonesome without the one he loves. You can never get both the throne and the people you love. Fate has truly played a nasty trick on both of them.

I wish this drama could have emphasized a bit more of their love for one another. Put in more sweet scenes maybe? All the scheming, tears, betrayal literally concealed their feelings. sigh. They barely got enough time to show their love for one another...barely enough time to make some happy memories.
