closetserialaddict
I am very late to this show. Am now watching it. I have a question. Where are there no kissing scenes at all between the leads? This is a bit too prudish and not realistic at all? Where's the passion? Am already at episode 23.

It's nice to know that people are still watching this drama. Do share your thoughts with the thread after the ending, too. Well, we were wondering too.. from the beginning of the drama till the very end and how KES (the writer) skipped the letter 'K' completely. It seemed that Ae Shin never got to practice her English thoroughly. Kidding aside, the drama was depicting the era in the early 1900s when the difference in class was still so strong. Despite Eugene being a US Marine Captain, it's probably not appropriate for him to show his affection (openly or otherwise) to a noblewoman. We are watching this through a modern-day script and production.. who knows how it really was back then. Nonetheless, even without a sweet or passionate kiss, the emotions were undeniable and conveying the strong feeling of attraction, love and respect they have for each other. The leads' natural chemistry already expresses their intense longing. [Of course, we can have our fan-fiction to refer for a happier and more realistic ending ]

[Of course, we can have our fan-fiction to refer for a happier and more realistic ending ] Thanks for your input! given the intensity of emotions they must have felt - that Eugene was even willing to die for her, the passion must have been fiery. SO i don't think it's realistic at all for them to have skipped the kiss part. It's not like people didn't have sex in those days. haha. I think especially in times of war and conflict where people could die anytime, they would actually have given in more to passionate impulses.. Well that's what's usually portrayed in movies about freedom fighters and guerillas. I was thinking gosh, does one of them have bad breath or what? yeah, i imagined Ae Shin and Eugene would have shared more passionate moments, except that they were not portrayed Haha. 1

rubie
August 15, 2019 Choosing Chungcheong Text and photos by Cecille Santillan-Visto BusinessWorld The streets of Sunshine Land AS TIME is a limited resource, travelling for pleasure may sometimes be considered a luxury. Often, the choice of destination could spell the difference between a memorable vacation and a bungled opportunity. Carefully selecting one’s getaway is the first order in planning. The typical tourist will likely pick the popular cities and include the “touristy” areas in their itinerary. The more adventurous, meanwhile, will be prefer the crowded and unspoiled surroundings. Those planning a trip to South Korea will have the capital city of Seoul as their first stop. But for this writer, who has been to the Land of the Morning Calm more than 10 times in the last seven years, there are other equally, if not more enticing places to experience the ultimate in Korean culture. For the Korean Tourism Organization Manila, promoting other provinces and cities and their unique charms is high on its agenda. One of these “unexplored” regions is Chungcheong — recognized as Korea’s bastion of Catholicism, an exciting artistic mecca, and an emerging attraction for those fascinated with Korean quirkiness. Chungcheong, located in the southwest of the country, was one of the eight provinces formed during the Joseon Dynasty. The name was derived from Chungju and Cheongju, two of its main cities. A recent summer escape provided the opportunity to see the sights of Chungcheong, particularly spots in the Daejeon, Cheonan, and Dangjin areas. Should you choose Chungcheong as your next Korean province, the seven attractions below will make visit worth your while. 1. Nonsan Sunshine Land — K-drama fans should include Nonsan Sunshine Land on their list of not-to-be-missed places. Officially opened on Nov. 1, 2018, it was the filming location of the period Korean drama Mr. Sunshine, starring multi-awarded actor Lee Byung Hun and young actress Kim Tae Ri. Nonsan Sunshine Land has several sections, including the Sunshine Studio, where around 70% of the scenes were shot; a 1950s open film set, and even a survival game and military experience center. Nonsan is an acknowledged military city, with a government army center in its jurisdiction. According to the studio’s management, Nonsan Sunshine Land attracts an average of 30,000 visitors, no small thanks to the drama’s huge following, and they expect to have more tourists with the expansion of the facility. It took a year to build the complex but more sections are being added, presumably to make it more comparable with other similar but bigger outdoor studios such as the Yongin MBC Daejanggeum Park, formerly MBC Dramia, which this writer was also able to visit on a recent Korea trip. Entrance to Sunshine Land is free but there is a 7,000 Korean Won (KRW) (about P350) fee to explore the Sunshine Studio. The people behind Sunshine Land skillfully replicated the look and feel of 1900s Joseon. A shop rents out hanbok (the Korean national costume) and visitors can walk through the area and feel like they traveled back in time. Staff manning Sunshine Land are also in costume and constantly in character, contributing to the one-of-a-kind vibe. There is a café inside the Glory Hotel, which serves refreshments to guests, like the character of Eugene Choi does in the series. 2. Daejeon City treats 3. Portraits at Daecheong Lake 4. Uineungjeongi Cultural Street 5. Asan Marina Village 6. Pilgrimage to Cheonan’s shrines 7. Ami Art Museum
closetserialaddict
ok, so what's the deal between Goo Dong-mae and Kudo Hina before a budding romance grew as the drama unfolded. Very early on in the series they already showed them being quite intimate and comfortable physically. She was shown in her bath robe in her room while Dong-mae was in an armchair. In another episode, he watched her taking her bath, and she got out naked in front of him. Were they friends with benefits when the story started? I guess we have to guess since the producer and screen writer seemed to like implying sex and passion rather than show it..

In another episode, he watched her taking her bath, and she got out naked in front of him. Were they friends with benefits when the story started? I guess we have to guess since the producer and screen writer seemed to like implying sex and passion rather than show it.. Out of the five leads, Kudo Hina was once a married woman albeit in an arranged and abusive marriage. Gu Dong Mae spent time in Japan before returning to Joseon and running a geisha establishment, living with a woman as well. So.. him seeing her without clothes may not mean anything at all. They were definitely 'friends with benefits' as you mentioned or rather more 'symbiotic' to be exact. The gang leader was able to go in and out of Glory Hotel like he owns it and the young widow got her own private protection from business enemies or unruly suitors. Eugene Choi may or may not been with a woman while he was living in America, he seemed more preoccupied with the Marines and military & fighting battles. Lady Ae Shin, of course, led a sheltered privileged life as a Joseon noblewoman. She disguised herself in men's suits while her most trusted companion had been the sniper rifle. While studying in Japan, Kim Hee Sung who was betrothed to Ae Shin had a live-in relationship with a Japanese woman. All of them were far from being naive even though the characters were portrayed without any skinship the entire drama. The most was a tight embrace, sleepy head on a lap and a tearful piggyback. closetserialaddict
Was Kudo Hina wearing a butt pad in the serial? I am just curious as her butt looks very disproportionate to her frame. Was that in vogue for western fashion at that time?
