mrsyooknit
From the trailer for the next two episodes, I am afraid the wedding really won't happen until episodes past 40. I am guessing ep. 44 or so. The last 15 episodes of the drama are going to be full of stuff. EDIT: They are also spending a lot of time on giving Night a backstory and making him more pitiful. I guess I won't get my karma after all.
canstand
Don't get me wrong I'm rooting for JM and XF, but I have to say night's character is different with the one in the novel. He did not and has not used JM. Night will turn to a dark side after he's mother got killed by XF's mother. I have to be hones, Night in the drama is different with the Night in the novel. In this drama, RY likes/loves JM when he first saw her. Yes, he did say words that makes JM's father keeps the promises that he and JM are to be wed; IMO, I consider this as an reasonable action. I would do the same thing if I were him. I love the three main character: XF, JM and RY. This is actually the first drama that I love three main characters in the same time...Ur!!! I'm just addicted to this show....can't even do my homework.........I just wish they could upload more episode at once!!! Edit: they are spending a lot of time depicting the love between LY and QY, and this is the part where I don't get. In fact, I don't see any connections between their love and the main story line.

YAAAASSS! I definitely am agreeing with you about RY. The drama did a great job of fleshing out his character and allowing viewers to see from his side. I know his trying to take over the Heavenly throne, but his actions towards JM is honestly with no ill intentions. I mean heck he liked her before he knew that she could be of political benefit for him. LOVED their meeting scene and the fact that he kept the red knot around his wrist afterwards. It really shows JM impact towards him even in their first meeting! And the fact that Night purposefully said those words to JM when her father was behind them really shows his desire to marry her and leave a good impression. I mean he even took her out when she was stuck in the Floral Realm and showered her with her meteor show. He is soooo dreamy! But XF *internal squeeeeeaaallll* bless his soul, his ardent love for her really makes me just root for their love story more so than RY (though at times RY got me rooting for him as well)!

Yesssssssssssssssss!!!! I totally agree!!!! I'm rooting for JM and XF's love. I'm also rooting for RY to achieve high and get his happy ending, although this might highly unlikely. Indeed, he will get the throne, but he will also lose the love of his life. He will have the throne and be alone like forever....sigh......................I hope someday he could eventually move on and find someone he loves and who also loves him back. JM does not love him at all, she loves XF.

For this reason only, i feel RY is taking matters in his own hands and manipulating innocent JM in marrying him. He knows that XF loves her. Actually, I know he is a great person and dont think he is greedy and want the throne from what i have seen from the drama pov. He loves XF and also helped XF keep his prowess at the Flower realm when JM was finding the herb for him. He transferred his power even though it contradicted and life threatening for him. He is so patient even though he is being hated by heavenly empress. I dont know what all schemes he is going to do in the future episodes but what i feel is, he should not do that to JM and make elders believe that JM loves him and want to marry him. Viki - hope they sub the rest of the episodes fast.

Also they have to really put out Night's character, so it all makes sense like the novel. 1 hour ago, pad-hari said: For this reason only, i feel RY is taking matters in his own hands and manipulating innocent JM in marrying him. He understands that XF loves him and respects him a lot as an older brother. I just think all the years of torture, he just had enough and having JM appear was a great way to get it back at the people who hurted him. (Just my opinion)
mrsyooknit
While I dont hate Night, I dont think his suffering justifies his actions. Just bc someone is pitiful doesnt give them a free pass for hurting others and in this case hurting someone he is suppose to love and his brother. Both people were good to him. I think he is just cunning in the end and he becomes selfish only looking out for his own interests. I personally wasnt able to forgive him for everything he did in the novel and I do hope he gets some karma more than not getting JM. Since she was never in love with him and she was just used by him time and time again. A lot of people go through hard things in life and dont turn around and hurt others. I feel bad for his circumstances and at the same time I think his actions are cruel and unforgivable. I do think he makes a compelling villain due to his complexity but a villain nonetheless.
Sary Em
All is fair in love and war they say...in the novel Night had a potential love interest but that ship sailed long ago...as he was too hell bent on revenge, we all know how that endless cycle goes. I am sure he is redeemable if the author decides to write a love line for him in a new book?. I always found him as such a complex figure, manipulative yes but he did also truly loved JM but unfortunately her heart already belonged to XF from the get go, unfeeling pill or no. You cannot force this thing called love. The heart wants what the heart wants. Yeah, if eps 40 is the turning point of full on angst then bring it on! I truly loved the second half more as we saw how much XF loves JM in the first arc, but her passion for him knows no bounds as well in her journey to redeem herself to him. When you love, love unconditionally!
Sary Em
Spoiler This scene I am thinking may be the 2nd mutual cultivation? He is in black! The Great One Spoiler
clawedzip
I honestly don't see how Night's character is significantly different from the novel version. The major difference is that in the novel, we don't find out the whole truth about Night's backstory and desire for revenge until much later in the story. Aside from that, the drama's story about his childhood and his mother's sad fate is just a more detailed depiction of what happened in the novel. I think Night in the drama and in the novel are pretty much the same character--justified in taking revenge, but not justified in how they manipulate Jin Mi into their revenge plot. Also, I think some people here are misunderstanding the scene where Night confesses his love to Jin Mi in front of the Water God. He already knew Jin Mi was the Water God's daughter, so all that talk about him being willing to suffer the consequences of breaking his marriage contract to be with Jin Mi was a bluff. He knew that none of that would happen anyway, so pretending that he would be willing to be punished that doesn't show any sincerity on his part.

canstand
I have zero interest of mixing the novel and drama together, even though they are the same story. The truth is the writers did change RY's backstory in the drama, and mixing them together are prejudice. Indeed, you can't justify your action to hurt someone even if you are pitiful, but when someone slap you in the face, you better slap back. Personally, Heavenly empress' actions are cruel and unforgivable, and RY's action are no where near her. I'm rooting for JM and XF, and I can find reason to justify RY's action. RY loves his brother, and he loves JM as well. After all, when your mother killed my mother and tortured me for years, why can't I ask for a payback? Speaking of hell-bent on revenge, I still remember John Wick killed a whole bunch of people when he's dog got killed.

Even if he did not say that, the Water God would not let his daughter to marry the guy who's mother killed hers.
