Plot

Rampant/Outbreak tells the action story of a hero named Yi Chung (to be played by Hyun Bin) who fights against “Night Demons” to save the Joseon nation.  Lee Chung is the son of the king, and the greatest martial artist in the world. Although he is given to the Qing Empire as a political hostage, he returns home when his brother, the Crown Prince Yi Young, calls him back after many years. And it’s because of the nightmarish monsters plaguing the country that Lee Chung is tasked to destroy.

Hyun Bin reunites with Confidential Assignment director for zombie sageuk film

After the success of his latest film Confidential Assignment, it’s no wonder that Hyun Bin is opting to stay in the movie business for now (his last drama was 2015’s Hyde, Jekyll, Me). He recently confirmed to star in a new action zombie movie called Rampant, which is set to start filming later this year.............

Jang Dong-gun to team up with real-life buddy Hyun Bin in zombie thriller Rampant

Man, you can just feel the star power in this project. Zombie sageuk Rampant has added Jang Dong-gun (No Tears For the Dead) as a potential castmate to already-confirmed Hyun Bin (Confidential Assignment), which would make for one awesome lineup. From initial reports, it sounds like Jang Dong-gun’s character won’t be on the same side as Hyun Bin’s, but I’m secretly hoping they work it out and take down zombies together with swords and in sageuk garb, side by side. I can already picture it. *drool*............

Suzy Denies Reports Of Her Starring In New Ghost Film With Hyun Bin

Singer-turned-actress Suzy recently stated that she will not be appearing in the new film “Rampant” (working title).

On June 23, a source from JYP Entertainment stated, “Suzy’s work schedule doesn’t fit with ‘Rampant’ so she will not be appearing in the film.”

Meanwhile, one media site previously reported that Suzy’s name was being mentioned as a potential for the main female lead of the film. However, Suzy’s representatives stated that the actress had already examined the project.

The film “Rampant” is an action blockbuster film about a rampant ghost who only moves around at night and the people who are trying to stop it. The film is headed by director Kim Sung Hoon, who also directed “Confidential Assignment,” and Hyun Bin has already confirmed to appear in the film.

First script reading and gosa ceremony for movie “Outbreak,” (literal title), starring Hyun-Bin and Jang Dong-Gun, took place August 23, 2017. The traditional gosa ceremony is performed to bring about good fortune and avoid misfortune. At the script reading main cast members including Hyun-Bin, Jang Dong-Gun, Jo Woo-Jin, Kim Eui-Sung, Jeong Man-Sik, Seo Ji-Hye, Lee Sun-Bin and Jo Dal-Hwan. Movie is directed by Kim Sung-Hoon and screenplay by Hwang Jo-Yoon. Director Kim Sung-Hoon and screenwriter Hwang Jo-Yoon worked with actor Hyun-Bin previously in 2017 film “Confidential Assignment.”

Filming for “Outbreak” will begin September 1, 2017 in South Korea.

First still images of Hyun Bin and Jang Dong-Gun in movie “Outbreak”

Filming for movie “Outbreak” (literal title), starring Hyun-Bin and Jang Dong-Gun, finished February 13, 2018 and took about 5 months to complete. Meanwhile, here’s the first still images of Hyun-Bin and Jang Dong-Gun in the upcoming film. Hyun-Bin plays Prince Lee Chung and returns to Joseon after 10 years in Qing. He then chases after a monster. Jang Dong-Gun plays Kim Ja-Joon. He dreams of reforming Joseon. Movie is directed by Kim Sung-Hoon.

 

“Outbreak” will be released sometime later this year in South Korea.
