Story (credit : jdramas.wordpress.com)
The Special Investigation Unit is a secret force of five specialists in various fields. They investigate political and terrorism incidents that pose a crisis to the country behind the scenes and work to resolve them. The unit is under the direct control of Kaji Daiki, the head of the National Police Agency’s Security Bureau. Led by Yoshinaga Mitsunari, a former detective of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division, its members are Inami Akira who sustained serious trauma in a special mission during the time he was in the Self-Defence Forces; Tamaru Saburo who was ordered to transfer from the Public Security Department’s Foreign Affairs Division in the wake of some incident and was later picked out by the Special Investigation Unit; Kashii Yusuke, a former member of the riot police’s bomb disposal unit; and Oyama Rei, a former hacker of remarkable ability. They find themselves confronting terrorists, new cult groups, military spies and drug trafficking organisations, and torn between their own sense of justice and reality. One day, a young man called Udagawa Keisuke appears with a bomb around his neck in an open space surrounded by tall buildings. This causes a commotion around him. The son of the current Foreign Minister, Keisuke had committed numerous crimes including drugs and assault but evaded arrest because of his father’s clout. The criminal demands a public apology from the Foreign Minister on an evening news programme. If he fails to do so, Keisuke will be killed in public. The members of the Special Investigation Unit receive instructions from Kaji and rush over to the scene. Despite their disgust with Keisuke, they follow Yoshinaga’s lead to arrest the person responsible for this crime. As the time limit gets closer with each passing moment, Inami and Tamaru make contact with someone who holds the key to the case and they learn a shocking truth. Inami also has some misgivings about the crime scene … …

@Mico Ricco thanks a bunch!

Finally a thread! I've been waiting! I watch ep 2 raw. I'm waiting for the sub!

Nice to see in Ep 2 in one scene Saburo smiled. He always just has this stoic look on him unlike Akira. Ha!

And t hough both of them have some kind  of "crisis" of their own ( gonna see than in flashback), it's good to see a drama with fluid detectives/ investigators/ polices and investigations.

In ep 3  akira got hurt trying to chase the young would be terrorist. When Akira asked Saburo " how much was the danger allowance for civil servant, again?" then Saburo said "a maximum of 520 YEN  (4.50 USD) for work in high altitude"  Hah! "crap" said  Akira!

 Can the govt raise their allowance! Haha. Oh wait, they're elite secret police force dealing with political shenanigans.

@Mico Ricco my eyes poppin with hearts! thanks for screen shots!

First time participating in a non-Kdrama thread, and so good to see familiar faces here *waves*!

Caught Ep1 and totally loving the colourful characterisations and the awesome(ly funny!) team dynamics! Loved Oguri Shun since Ouroboros, and Nishijima Hidetoshi since Mozu, so am absolutely excited to see them both in the same drama. Not to mention the amazing Ishida Yuriko, who has captivated me since Mozu, where she was the tormented Chihiro, wife to NH's Kuraki. Not sure what their relationship is yet in CRISIS, but certainly looks like there is plenty of unresolved angst between them. The closing scene of Inami apparently hunting down and executing a man in the woods is intriguing and hints at a darker past than what he is projecting. Can't wait to find out the backstories of each team member. In any case, 1 episode down, 8 more  to go... hopefully I'll catch up soon in between the demands of real life!

Just finished Ep3. As expected, the cases have gotten darker, hitting us where it hurts, as we live through the team's individual struggles while they wrestle with their principles, integrity and question what they are protecting - perpetrators of horrors and injustice - young girls prostituted and violently abused by men in power, movers and shakers of the country; and young people forced to take up arms and rise up in the face of the apathy that they face from the adults who should have stood up against a system that has betrayed the people's trust. Powerful powerful episodes that made an indelible impression long after its closing. Tamaru's helplessness to see justice served, having to settle with Alice's assured lifelong medical care, was heartbreaking to see, and most evident when he pleaded for Chigusa to stay with him a while longer in the church if only for a modicum of solace, unable to find it anywhere else, certainly not within his heart. And Inami's intensified efforts to dull the pain with each case, living through the horror of seeing victims who should have been protected, being forced instead to take the law into their own hands due to a country and its system that has failed them. Each case just gets better and better, and I can't wait to see how the next one unfolds, preparing myself mentally already for yet another emotional ride.

@Mico Ricco The end of that ep. 5 clip gave me goosebumps. I'm a bit confused though, because I understood Akira to say "If I defy authority, will you kill me," not "do I kill them?" Can someone else weigh in on this? I checked one version of c-subs, and they also say "will you kill me?" (At least I think they do.:D)

@liddi I really enjoyed reading your impressions. I still remember how numb I felt at the end of episode 2. I seriously considered dropping the show then, but I'm glad that I kept watching. I only hope that these last few episodes will give us more satisfying case resolutions.

In Ep4, betrayal takes center stage once more, and you wonder where it all began - how one became branded a traitor, and how he got there. Who failed whom - the man towards his country, or his country towards him. "Never trust this country, you guys." - potent parting words which surely echoes what must already be reverberating within their hearts even before - the ugliness that they are forced to confront about the country that they have sworn to protect. I never expected this episode to gut me the way it did, but the final 10 mins drives the knife right in and twists it relentlessly with no way of escape, culminating in the tears that came out fast and furious the moment this scene played out.

If this is the portent of things to come, my mental preparations have been lacking thus far, and I need to steel myself further for more heartbreak down the road.

@ina111 Thank you for your kind words. CRISIS has not failed to disappoint in every way so far, with the right balance of edginess, humour, restraint and hard looks into the ugliness lurking beneath a veneer of civilised society. I love that every single team member is given their moment to shine, and this episode particularly belongs to our resident, mild-mannered geek Kashii, whose empathy for Arima's plight sees him losing his cool at Aonuma's threat to have them removed forcibly from Arima's side. I just realised that there are 10 episodes, with the finale airing this coming Tuesday, which means 6 more episodes to go. Is it strange to say that I am already dreading the conclusion, being totally immersed in this universe as it is?

Great story lines all l can say of Crisis.  It stays very close the real life whereby it is extremely difficult to change the rotten system in control by the powerful.  But the way episode 5 goes it gave a glimpse of hope that small little effort goes a long way to make things better.

HPriest made updates to two lines in episode 5:
