how many episodes will this season be?

Can't remember reading any articles stating the number of episodes for Season 2 but it's likely 9 episodes (minimum) following the previous season. Hopefully, there will be additional 2 episodes or more as it's already Season 2 and filming in a location quite far away from Korea. In that sense, we still have 3 episodes left, at least.

PD Na Young Suk Addresses Criticism From “Youn’s Kitchen 2” Viewers And Apologizes

On February 13, “Youn’s Kitchen 2” producing director (PD) Na Young Suk, PD Lee Jin Joo, and writer Kim Dae Joo attended a press conference at the Stanford Hotel in Seoul and answered questions about the show.

Viewers had pointed out some controversial moments on the show such as the lack of hair covering by the kitchen staff and Lee Seo Jin pointing and using an informal term for “them” when referring to customers.

Na Young Suk said, “I am aware of the viewers’ comments. I became informed of them after reading comments and community bulletin boards. I humbly accept them.”

He continued, “It was the production crew’s lapse in judgment. I admit that in terms of hygiene, there were parts were unable to be thorough about. We film everything at once and edit parts of it to air on broadcast. If we had split up filming, then we could have taken the viewers’ reactions into consideration, but we couldn’t. I apologize. I think it’s something we need to be more careful with if we were to shoot ‘Youn’s Kitchen’ again.”

“Youn’s Kitchen 2” is a reality program that shows actors Yoon Yeo Jung, Lee Seo Jin, Jung Yoo Mi, and Park Seo Joon running a Korean restaurant in the town of Garachico on the Spanish island of Tenerife. The show has continuously recorded high viewership ratings and recently achieved its highest viewership ratings yet of 16 percent during its fifth episode.

PD Na Young Suk Addresses If There Will Be More Seasons Of “Youn’s Kitchen” And “Kang’s Kitchen”

Source: Soompi by E. Kang

Producing director (PD) Na Young Suk revealed his thoughts on potentially continuing “Youn’s Kitchen” and “Kang’s Kitchen” with additional seasons.

He was attending a press conference for the currently airing tvN program “Youn’s Kitchen 2” on February 13 when he commented on the topic.

“Lee Seo Jin normally doesn’t text very often, but he contacted me for the first time in a while after we surpassed 15 percent in ratings. He told me that we should start preparing for season three,” PD Na Young Suk shared. Lee Seo Jin had previously promised that if ratings reached 15 percent, they would return with a third season.

Na Young Suk revealed they were open to the possibility, but it is difficult to say anything definite right now. He explained, “Lee Seo Jin must have been happy as a cast member, and we were happy as well. However, the second season is still in the middle of airing, and it takes a while to prepare for ‘Youn’s Kitchen.’

“Because there are many variables and safety guidelines, we are not planning anything right now, but I believe we should [produce another season] with a happy heart. There’s nothing specific in regards to when we should do it, or who we should do it with.”

Na Young Suk also addressed if there will be another season for the popular spin-off, “Kang’s Kitchen.” He expressed, “In the case of ‘Kang’s Kitchen,’ producing director Shin Hyo Jung is in charge, so it’s difficult for me to say, ‘We’re going to’ or, ‘We won’t.’ I have thought about what it would be like if we made ‘Kang’s Kitchen 2.’ There is room for discussion since we ended up with a good product.”

“Youn’s Kitchen 2” airs every Friday at 9:50 p.m. KST.

Was YOUN'S KITCHEN episode 7 not aired last night?  Couldn't find any raw streaming and no snippets at tvN channel either. Because of Lunar New Year, perhaps it was postponed?

Anyone knows?th_sad010.gif

Yes, no new episode this week, due to broadcast of programs for Lunar New Year special.

A little too bad for the fans and tvN Asia doesn't air episode 6 either, right.  Well, at least it makes the final episode comes a week later than scheduled (on a normal broadcast).

No, tvN Asia had broadcast episode 6 in the schedule as usual. I have uploaded the subtitles last night.

Oh yeah it's there!  Something must be wrong with my eyes!  Been watching the raw version repeatedly. Luckily the English subs are finally here... it feels weird/empty not having Youn's Kitchen the past weekend.

Thanks so much! th_rbhcool.gif

Finally, it's Friday again. th_cheerleader.gifWe'll have the much-missed Youn's Kitchen today. Quite the cliffhanger for the past two weeks.. not knowing what happened during the BIG LUNCH. :D

The Executive Director is beaming (and bragging ) with happiness at the customers' responses but our CHEFS are staying doubly focused (by ignoring him, haha) to prepare the orders.

Everyone, just found this.. ahh, so late! :o Anyway, it's all good that we did not miss it completely. Before this we read about the former Danish minister, and then the food blogger from Ukraine. Here's the sharing by the couple from Norway who appeared in episode 3. Please check out the photos shared. Kinda cool because they took pics of the filming, to show how and what the production was doing. Cameras, cameras.. everywhere!

This entry was actually written 3 months ago (Nov 2017 when they were still filming) and a lot of people have already commented at the blog. Maybe it's good that we didn't see it here, earlier.

Nonetheless, a big thank you for the great sharing!

“Youn’s Kitchen 2” PD Talks About Lee Seo Jin’s Heartwarming Appreciation Of Park Seo Joon

The producing director (PD) of tvN’s “Youn’s Kitchen 2” talked about the cast members’ teamwork and the reactions from the residents of Tenerife in a recent interview.

PD Lee Jin Joo said, “Lee Seo Jin has 100 percent faith in Park Seo Joon. Lee Seo Jin completely accepts Park Seo Joon’s opinion on all matters related to the restaurant. I think he respects Park Seo Joon’s experience from working part-time at restaurants. During filming, Lee Seo Jin and Park Seo Joon’s teamwork really stood out.”

Youns-Kitchen2.jpg

She continued, “Lee Seo Jin was the one who most closely watched how hard Park Seo Joon worked. On the last day of running the restaurant, Lee Seo Jin said to the show’s staff, ‘When you go back to Korea and watch the footage, you’ll know how important Park Seo Joon’s role was.’ While editing, there were many times the staff was blown away by Park Seo Joon. We were surprised by how he created and organized a list system for better communication between the hall and kitchen staff.”

The PD also spoke about the locals’ reactions to Korean food. She revealed, “Most customers who visited Youn’s Kitchen tried Korean food for the first time. For many locals who weren’t tourists, it was their first time tasting Korean food. This was the difference from season one.”

She said, “In season one, we mostly dealt with customers who were visiting South Asia as a vacation spot who had already experienced Korean food. On the other hand, most residents of Garachico didn’t have any experience with Korean food, so we were honestly concerned about that while preparing for ‘Youn’s Kitchen 2.’ However, despite the staff’s concerns, the locals ate bibimbap for the first time and said it was really delicious. Many of them enjoyed eating spicy food. The staff is really happy about the great reactions and felt proud about Korean food.”

On the latest episode of the show, the restaurant had its busiest day yet with a large party reservation and an endless stream of new customers. Yoon Yeo Jung and Jung Yoo Mi prepared and put out dishes while Lee Seo Jin and Park Seo Joon served diners and managed the hall.

“Youn’s Kitchen 2” airs on Fridays at 9:50 p.m. KST.

[Video] Best season to enjoy lava-like ‘hotteok’

By Park Ju-young The Korea Herald

If you watched the latest episode of tvN’s “Youn‘s Kitchen,” you might notice the Korean traditional dessert “Hotteok.”

By serving the Korean sweet pancake with a scoop of ice cream and chocolate sauce, the restaurant featured a posh dessert menu and captivated Spanish customers’ taste buds.

“Hottoek,” however, is one of the popular street snacks which has been loved by locals for decades.

The details about when and where this tasty dish came from is not known, however it’s generally believed that Chinese merchants brought the concept of hotteok in early 1920.

The pancake dough is made out of sticky rice and flour, while cinnamon-scented brown sugar fills the inside. Fillers can be varied to seasoned vegetables, chopped nuts, pizza paste or meat, depending on the eateries.

After the filled dough is fried in greased griddle, the hot pancake is served in a paper cup or a piece of thick paper.

“Winter is the perfect season to enjoy the hotteok,” Lee Young-ho said, the owner of the desserts shop “Hotteok-dang.”

“Eating freshly fried hotteok in the freezing weather is the best way to taste the flavor. Be aware of the boiling hot sugar, as it easily overflows.”

The price of hotteok may differ by store, but it is priced between 1,000 won to 2,000 won.

Not everyone got a day off - while Seo Joon was out enjoying the scenery and drinking coffee Yun Mi was doing laundry and shopping - no enjoying the scenery and relaxing for her.

I'm a little annoyed with her for enforcing and participating in the continuation of gender stereotypes.

She works all day just like Seo Joon but when she comes home at night she does the laundry for everyone and the restaurant as well.

If women want gender equality they have to expect to be treated equally and men have to take responsibility for their part in remaining the in the 1950s instead of 2018.

It's disrespectful to treat every women as your maid and cook and every man as your bag carrier and mechanic.

If a man uses the bathroom he should be cleaning it too and if he wears clothes he should be washing them.

If a women drives a car she should know how it works and how to change a tire and when to change the oil and filters.

The Korean reality show that is being recorded in Tenerife

Source: Tu Gastro Web / Instagram (direct Google-translate)

The Korean reality TV show Youn's Kitchen of tvN is filming the episodes of its second season during these weeks in the municipality of Garachico.

For a few weeks now, in the quiet town of the north of the island, you could see the hustle and bustle of this type of production, which has mobilized a total of 45 people from South Korea, renting numerous properties in the town center and port. and even remodeling a commercial space that, for a week, has become the Korean food restaurant "Youn's Kitchen".

yk_s2-2018_2.jpg

We have attended (as good novelists that we are) to the filming of one of the chapters, in which the world-famous actors Lee Seo-jin and Park Seo Joon (as waiters) with Jung Yu-mi and Youn Yuh-jung (in the kitchen) have to face the management of a restaurant. In spite of being very famous in South Korea, in Garachico they go totally unnoticed, being a "worker" more of the municipality. Although we have to say that, while we were filming, we saw some compatriot approaching to be close to their idols.

We live curious moments, like this one, in which the actor and singer Park Seo Joon learned to build a barraquito! , by the hand of one of the waitresses of the Aristides restaurant , near the location of Youn's Kitchen.
