why couldn't it be Nara for Gong Yoo And Nana for Lee Dong Wook ?! :sweatingbullets:

With Gong Yoo status right now, we can expect pubic reaction lol. Plus Gong Yoo had experience working with idol in BIG b4, and we knew the result. Same with Wookie in Wild Romance.

Rather than the actors, I am skeptical about the writer, as it would be hard to guess how her plot's going to unfold for this one. I was watching an old kim eun sook drama days back, which has got jeon do yeon in it, lovers in prague probably. The story was refreshingly unique, and it was funny and witty [though I only saw one or two ep]. However the plot of heirs fall flat on the ground, and I am not a fan of DOTS either. So it would be awesome if she writes something deep and meaningful this time around, and considering it's tvn, there must be something in the script that made them take this ambitious project, one can hope lol.

yes, the old kdrama glory when money and popularity not the main target-quality is very very high.

I remember Heirs first few eps struggling with rating bc of non makjang element-it picked up later when the makjang element inserted, making the ahjumma love it.

i 've faith in this drama for many reasons

First it's 3 lead actors who can act ( Gong yoo Lee dong Wook and Kim Go eun) it's rare nowadays

Second this story is new , unusual so it'll be add to this drama although fantasy drama can be big hit or big mess

third it'll be air on tvn honestly i trust tvn and all cable channels than public channels which depend on popularity only

forth the writer is KES i don't like her recent dramas but i can't deny she has the ability to attract fans and make any drama so popular

so please stop worrying and support them :blush:

Yoo Inna considers bringing some sunshine to tvN fantasy drama Goblin

by girlfriday | August 25, 2016 | No Comments

YooInna1.jpg

There were some rumors floating around last week that this second lead role in Goblinmight go to various idol stars, but I’m glad that the offer went to Yoo Inna (One More Happy Ending) in the end. She just has a warmth to her that I like, and whether she’s playing leads or supporting roles, I always root for her characters. She’s currently considering the offer to star in the new tvN fantasy series opposite Gong Yoo (Big), Kim Go-eun (Cheese in the Trap), and Lee Dong-wook (Bubblegum), who have all confirmed.

The new fantasy romance comes from hit writer Kim Eun-sook of Descended From the Sun, and is about a goblin who protects people and a reaper who takes people, and their bizarre cohabitation story as they escort souls to the afterlife. Gong Yoo plays the goblin, who is in need of a human bride in order to end his immortal life, and Lee Dong-wook plays the reaper, who has amnesia. Kim Go-eun will be the human bride.

Yoo Inna is up to play a character named Kim Sun, who renames herself Sunny because she likes anything that shines brightly. I don’t know if they mean metaphorically, or ooh, shiny! She doesn’t have money but she has looks that outshine her financial situation, and all men like her. But for the first time she meets a man who doesn’t lose to her, and that stirs her interest.

If she takes the role, it’ll be her second drama with writer Kim Eun-sook after Secret Garden. For Yoo Inna’s sake, I hope it’ll be a pairing with Lee Dong-wook in the vein ofDescended’s Jin Gu/Kim Ji-won couple, because it would be a lot more fun than watching her pine over a goblin with a bride. A sunny character suits her perfectly, especially if there’s any shot of her dating a grim reaper. Oh the metaphors that could be!

Goblin follows Friday-Saturday drama The K2 in December.

Yooina is very very good in her previous drama. I like her in "Queen" and "Star.."

I think the investors are following My Sassy Girl drama -reduce the risk marketing plan, -it's big gamble to hire idols or totally new actress, bc money back guarantee in not strong now, bc the drama cannot go to China market anymore.

I'm so freaking happy!!! I'm dancing samba right now. She's one of my fave actresses in kdramaland and was in my top-list of choices for Wookie for Goblin in my local forum. She was awesome in "Queen In Hyun's man" and was my fav character in "One more happy ending". One of my main fears concerning "Goblin" was who will play with Wookie. And now I know that he'll be in good hands.lol I'm rooting for her. I hope she'll accept it. And she deserves spotlight, since she's pretty underrated. But I know that knetz don't love her much and she receives hate.

Anyway, I hope she'll be casted. Can't wait to see their chemistry with Wookie. And finally he'll have his leading lady. ^^

Ahh, it makes me very happy to have Yoo In Na being offered a lead role in this! :D I've seen her in various dramas and always thought that she was underrated, as @Princi_86 stated. She is a good actress who I am surprised she hasn't gotten more leading roles. This seems to be such a stellar cast, and now it got me even more excited to its premiere.

Ilgan Sports - Naver: [Exclusive] "To join hands with Kim Eun Sook?... Yook Sung Jae in talks for 'Goblin'

1. [+2,083, -135] Unfortunate choice of female lead. Kim Go Eun...I'm not criticizing and I don't dislike her but she doesn't suit the character and she has zero chemistry with Gong Yoo

2. [+1,676, -147] Eun Sook-ah, take Kim Go Eun out. How frustrating

3. [+1,338, -98] Please do something about Kim Go Eun-ssi's casting ㅠㅠ She and Gong Yoo don't match ㅠㅠ

4. [+1,101, -153] I'm not saying Yook Sung Jae is bad but I wonder at what point did writer Kim Eun Sook think it's necessary to add idol in her dramas. Why does she do this?? Descendants of the Sun - Onew, Heirs- Krystal, Gentleman's Dignity- Jonghyun

5. [+268, -27] Worst female lead in all of Kim Eun Sook's dramas

6. [+257, -25] Writer-nim, do a better job at choosing your female lead next time. Han Ji Min is a far better leading lady for Gong Yoo or there are other actresses like Ha Ji Won or Jung Yumi to choose from. I was excited since Gong Yoo's coming back after a long time but what a bummer.. This is the first time I was disappointed with your choice of female lead

1. [+3,698, -270] More lead role worthy than Kim Go Eun

2. [+2,217, -145] Between the two, Yoo Inna is better

3. [+1,526, -45] Her second collab with writer Kim after 'Secret Garden'. That's nice^^

4. [+1,060, -60] I'll look forward to it. Fighting

5. [+869, -52] Oooh good

6. [+441, -31] Please switch Kim Go Eun... Haa.. I really wanna invest myself in Gong Yoo's drama but the female lead...

7. [+397, -26] What's so special about Kim Go Eun? Why is she always playing lead roles?

8. [+381, -25] Is Kim Go Eun confirmed? Yoo Inna is a second lead?

Descendants Of The Sun Writer To Bring Out New Fantasy Drama; Will History Repeat Itself?

Descendants Of The Sun Writer To Bring Out New Fantasy Drama; Will History Repeat Itself?

Descendants Of The Sun writer Kim Eun Sook was the brain behind the story of the iconic show. He is already working on the next project which is expected to be a fantasy drama tentatively titled Goblin.

The new drama by Descendants Of The Sun writer is expected to be aired around December 2016. It is backed by network tvN. The lead pair in the series will be Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook.

Kim Eun Sook is also behind the story of drama Secret Garden. The new drama Goblinwill be very much different from his earlier projects. Goblin is a story of an immortal goblin who is looking for a human bride so that he can end his life. He ends up living with a grim reaper who is suffering from amnesia.

The story revolves around the encounter between the two and how the journey goes ahead. The ups and downs of this relationship will be explored in Goblin. Will the writer be able to weave a magic script yet again?

Descendants Of The Sun was a story of an soldier falling in love with a doctor. The couple grow closer to each other and blossom in their love in a crisis ridden state. The 16 episode drama series garnered immense popularity across the world. The lead Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Ko rocketed to fame and had crazy fan following for them.

Descendants Of The Sun broke records in terms of TV rating. The finale episode of the show reached 38.8 nationwide viewership rating in South Korea. According to statistics from Nielsen Korea, the episode was watched most among women in their 40s. The average rating for the entire series was 28.6%.

Meanwhile, Goblin is adding more to the cast. Latest update is that Yoo In Na is expected to join the cast, reported Soompi. If all goes through well, Yook Sungjae will be portraying the role Yoo Duk Hwa, which is that of a rebellious eldest grandson of a big corporate family.

Fans will have to wait and see if Goblin creates the same history as that of Descendants Of The Sun.

Fantasy drama Goblin courts Yook Sung-jae to play a rebel

by girlfriday | August 26, 2016 | 15 Comments

YookSungJae2.jpg

Oh I hope this casting sticks, because Yook Sung-jae (Village: Secret of Achiara) has been getting a lot of drama offers lately — Moonlight Drawn By Clouds, Shopping King Louie — that he ultimately turned down due to scheduling conflicts, but I’d like to see him in a drama before the year is out. He’s currently entertaining an offer to join the cast of tvN’s fantasy drama Goblin, the next series from writer Kim Eun-sook (Descended From the Sun, Heirs). The show still doesn’t have a director attached, but news just broke that PD Lee Eung-bok of Descended From the Sun just quit his post at KBS, freeing him up just in time to take on Goblin. There’s no confirmation that the writer-director team will reunite, but it seems a likely possibility.

Goblin stars Gong Yoo (Big) as the titular goblin who protects souls, and Lee Dong-wook (Bubblegum) as an amnesiac reaper who takes souls. The story is about them living together in a bizarre arrangement, as they usher souls to the afterlife. The goblin is also in search of a human bride to end his immortality, played by Kim Go-eun (Cheese in the Trap), and an offer is out to Yoo Inna (One More Happy Ending) to play a sunny character who’s used to being loved by all men, but falls for the first one who doesn’t lose to her.

Yook Sung-jae is up for the role of a third-generation chaebol heir. The character is the eldest grandson of a family that runs a major corporation, so wealthy that “born with a golden spoon in his mouth” doesn’t suffice in describing his worth, and he’s a troublemaker with a blazing rebellious streak. Well, I liked his broody rebellious character in Who Are You–School 2015 more than his dopey deputy character in Village, so I think it’ll suit him well.

Yook Sung-jae doesn’t have many projects under his belt yet, but he’s a promising up-and-comer with adorable puppy tendencies, and I think he’d be crazy to turn down a project like this. And I know — it’s probably not the case that Yook Sung-jae’s character will end up as Gong Yoo’s pet, but come on, I don’t see why not.

Goblin starts shooting next month, and plans to follow The K2 on weekends in December.

“Descendants Of The Sun” PD Lee Eung Bok Resigns From KBS

On August 26, KBS confirmed that PD Lee Eung Bok’s resignation has been received and accepted. The PD (producing director) is well known for having worked on hit drama “Descendants of the Sun.”

Following the broadcast of “Descendants of the Sun,” rumors of Lee Eung Bok leaving KBS have continued to come up. Previously, KBS denied reports of his resignation each time the media reported on the rumors.

Many are speculating that the PD will be heading over to tvN to work on “Goblin” (tentative title). The upcoming drama is being written by star writer Kim Eun Sook who was one half of the writing team for “Descendants of the Sun.” If this is true, Lee Eung Bok and Kim Eun Sook would be reuniting for another project. Confirmations concerning the PD’s next project have yet to be revealed.

“Goblin” has confirmed actors Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook. Recently, Yoo In Na and BTOB’s Yook Sungjae were revealed to be in talks for roles in the drama. The drama is scheduled to air after “K2” which stars Ji Chang Wook and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA.

Previously, chief producer Ham Young Hoon resigned from KBS in March. Other famous PDs such as Na Young Suk and Kim Won Seok have quit KBS and gone on to be highly successful at different networks.
