*** Can’t wait to watch your upcoming movie. I hope this will be available internationally. Although, I feel sad that he is enlisting soon. I will miss you!  Park Hyung Sik, fighting! :PIt is the rule that the admission ceremony opens to the public unless you request & wish to enlist quietly. The same thing upon discharge,  if you want your discharge to happen discreetly, there will be nothing special. I love PSJ, too - I'm happy that they're buddies.

Park Hyung Sik Shares Thoughts About Military Enlistment, His “Soulmates” BTS’s V And Park Seo Joon, And More

47f0edacf2ba4556b5d0cbb97d96ea5e.jpeg?s=

On May 8, actor Park Hyung Sik sat down for an interview to talk about his upcoming movie “Juror 8.”

This is Park Hyung Sik’s big screen debut after proving his solid acting through dramas such as “Heirs,” “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon,” and “Suits.”

“Juror 8” tells the story of South Korea’s first trial by jury in 2008. It follows the case of a son brutally murdering his mother, with all factors seeming to point to a guilty ruling.

Park Hyung Sik will play the role of Kwon Nam Woo, who is the eighth juror and is someone who always goes above and beyond. He repeatedly questions the defendant’s self-declaration of guilt and reminds judge Kim Joon Gyum (played by Moon So Ri) of the importance of justice.

This film is his last project prior to his military enlistment. He was accepted to serve in the military police department of the Capital Defense Command and will enlist on June 10.

Previously, Park Hyung Sik featured in MBC’s variety show “Real Men” and earned the nickname “baby soldier.” He stated, “Although I had a tough time filming ‘Real Men,’ an advantage is that I know how it all feels since I was able to go to all different units, whereas [during actual military service], you are solely in one unit the whole time. So I thought I would rather go to a place where I had fun, and a place where I was able to use my talents to their full potential.

He said with a laugh, “I was good at shooting as ‘Sniper Park’ in ‘Real Men.’ People around me told me ‘You should come to this side’ so I enlisted in the unit that welcomed me.”

Regarding his actual enlistment, he commented, “Personally, I didn’t want to make it public, but since it became known, I ended up telling people ‘I’m going’ openly.”

He added, “I wanted to go quietly. I wanted to go without anyone knowing I went or didn’t go. When you say you are enlisting in the military, it feels like a fixed break period. If you don’t know, it’s okay because it feels like the person is active but just not working on a project. However, [if you know the person is enlisting] it feels like the person is locked in because ‘the person can’t be active.'”

Park Hyung Sik revealed his thoughts regarding Im Siwan, his fellow member of ZE:A, who recently was discharged and decided on his comeback project. Park Hyung Sik said, “Siwan has already filmed a lot of movies as the lead role, so I would say I’m not worried.

As the younger one, he looked dependable and made me feel secure. As for me, I humbly accepted it since I’m enlisting right after my first movie. He told me time flies [in the military]. Looking at him, it does seem like he was discharged very soon, although it may have felt slow for him.”

Park Hyung Sik talked about his first day of filming. He shared, “I found out that the director selected me for the role after seeing me in MBC’s ‘Real Men.’ He felt a similarity between me and Nam Woo’s character in that we both were learning step by step. It’s been four to five years since filming ‘Real Men’ and now that I’m in my late 20s, I am less pure despite what the director thinks. While digging into my role, the director was surprised when I acted in a more aggressive manner rather than in a pure manner.”

He continued, “The director told me not to dig into the character. I wondered what I should be doing if I don’t dig into my role. After a long meeting with the director, I had a character in mind, but this all fell through during the first filming. My first line was ‘I never knew there was a jury system in our country until now,’ and I had to film 27 takes of this. The director requested I try something different on every take. I went crazy.”

He also shared, “I ended up asking Moon So Ri for help. It was comforting when Moon So Ri told me ‘My debut film was director Lee Chang Dong’s movie and I had to do 40 to 50 takes on one scene. This is nothing.'”

Park Hyung Sik mentioned Park Seo Joon and BTS‘s V as his soulmates, after he starred with them in the drama “Hwarang.”  He remarked, “I usually don’t try to do anything to make myself stand out when there are a lot of people around. I’m not the type to get acquainted with people easily. However, I’m not the type to be alone all the time either.”

He explained, “When working on projects, you meet people you can get along with. There are people you keep in touch with effortlessly. I consider the [two] members I worked with in the drama ‘Hwarang’ as my soulmates. I continue to see them, and I tend to say things such as ‘What are you doing?’ or ‘Let’s eat together’ frequently.”

“Juror 8” is set to premiere on May 15.

In the meantime, watch “Hwarang” with English subtitles below!

Hyungsik shares how BTS' V made time out of his busy schedule to hang out

wejpg.jpg

Hyungsik talked about his tight friendship with BTS' V.

During a cafe interview for his new film 'Juror 8' on May 9, Hyungsik shared, "I meet Park Seo Joon and Kim Taehyung (V) often."

The 3 stars worked together on the KBS 2TV drama 'Hwarang' in 2017.

Hyungsik continued, "Taehyung is actually really busy nowadays. He spends more time overseas but recently, he was briefly in Korea for music shows. It was 11 at night after Taehyung completed all of his schedules for the day and he had to go out at 5 am the next day. We were having a meal together and he said he'll come by and he really did. He stayed until 4 am and went back to his schedule. I was so thankful."

He added, "Not everyone becomes close because they're around the same age but we naturally became close. We contacted and looked for each other more and more as we discussed our production."

Meanwhile, Hyungsik's new film 'Juror 8' is releasing in theaters on May 15.

Park Hyung-sik goes big before his military service: The singer-turned-actor was cast in ‘Juror 8’ after appearing on reality show

10194921.jpg

Nine years after first entering the entertainment world as member of boy group ZE:A, Park Hyung-sik is finally starring in his first full-length feature film.

The 27-year-old singer-turned-actor is not new to being in front of the camera. Park has appeared in several drama series including “The Heirs” (2013) and “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” (2017), taking on more prominent roles as the years passed. Park also earned many fans for his participation in the military reality show “Real Men” (2013), where he trained like a soldier along with fellow celebrities.

This year, Park is hitting the big screen as the lead in “Juror 8,” which also features actor Moon So-ri. The film, set for release on May 15, is roughly based on the historical 2008 trial that adopted the jury system for the first time in Korea. Park plays Nam-woo, a young entrepreneur who finds himself on the jury of a high-profile murder trial.

“Juror 8” marks an important point in Park’s career not only because the film is his big screen debut but also because it’s his last project before he enlists in the military. Beginning on June 10, Park will serve as a military police officer in the Capital Defense Command to fulfill Korea’s mandatory military duties.

“I hope that the movie does well and stays in theaters for a long time even after I enlist,” Park told Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily, during an interview on Wednesday. “Then I will also be remembered a bit longer in people’s memories and not regret the time I will be gone.”

The following are edited excerpts from the interview in which Park discusses his role in “Juror 8” and how he has been preparing for his military service.

Q. What kind of a character is Nam-woo and how did you prepare for the role?

A.
Nam-woo has no legal knowledge. But he’s the type to dig deep into issues that he doesn’t know about and has a hard time making decisions. He holds himself responsible for his choices.

I wanted to prepare for the role a bit beforehand but the director told me not to because of Nam-woo’s character. So I didn’t study and headed to the set without thinking too much.

In my previous drama “Suits” (2018), I played the role of a genius lawyer who memorized entire law books, so I could recognize some of the legal terminology said by the actors playing the judges, prosecutors and lawyers in “Juror 8.” It was hard trying to ignore it.

What was it like on set?

Director Hong Seung-wan told me that the reason he cast me was my performance in “Real Men.” He thought my attitude toward learning one thing at a time reminded him of Nam-woo.

But I starred in “Real Men” four or five years ago. Since then, I’ve gotten to know the world better and perhaps become less innocent. When I approached my character rather aggressively, Hong was a bit taken aback […] We settled our differences through several meetings.

We actually had to film one of the first scenes where I say “It’s my first time learning about the jury system” about 27 times. Moon So-ri gave me a lot of good advice.

Do you feel nervous about your first movie?

In some ways, filming dramas is scarier because it’s more difficult to look back at my performance on drama sets. It isn’t impossible but since there are so many scenes to film, I feel like I’m taking away time if I ask them to give me time to review myself. I usually have to wait until the episodes air to get feedback. But with movies, it’s easier to ask the director if I could review the shots. Although time is still tight, there are more opportunities for me to put on a better performance.

Why did you apply to serve in the Capital Defense Command?

Though I faced many hardships while filming “Real Men,” I had the advantage of trying out different units. Actually every unit is really challenging, and I can understand why people always claim they were at the toughest unit.

When I was at the Capital Defense Command I was nicknamed Sniper Park. I was good at target practice. Even though it was a few years back it’s a good memory. I wanted to go somewhere I had the most fun and could show off my talents.

Did fellow ZE:A member Im Si-wan give you advice about the Army?

He just told me that time flies. Guys don’t really comfort one another. I think he’s telling the truth, even though I might not feel that way when I’m actually there.

What kind of movies do you want to star in after your service?

I personally like movies like “My Annoying Brother” (2016) and “Twenty” (2014). I want to be in films where I can have fun filming with actors my age.

I also like the noir genre, but I also want to try entertaining movies like “Money” (2018).

[HanCinema's News] Park Hyung-sik and Yoo in-na Top DCInside Poll of Stars Most Likely to Cure Insomnia

photo1062632.jpg

With 36.3% of the total vote Park Hyung-sik has topped a DCInside poll about which celebrity is the best cure for insomnia. The odd phrasing is most likely meant to imply that the celebrity in question is good at putting an agitated person at ease. Yoo In-na was second place with 22.1% of the vote. Cha Eun-woo was number three with 14.2% of the vote. The rest of the list all polled under ten percent.

Park Hyung-sik has been benefiting from a strong career boost as of late. Originally a singer in the group Children of Empire, Park Hyung-sik has been gradually making a name for himself with acting roles over the years. He's progressed from minor roles in dramas like "Dummy Mommy" and "The Heirs" to leading ones in "Suits" and "Strong Woman Do Bong-soon". He will also appear in a leading role in "Juror 8", which releases in theaters on May 15th.

Yoo In-na recently finished "Touch Your Heart" and has been confirmed to appear in "Hitting on the Blind Boss" a drama about which there is as yet little detail. Cha Eun-woo will appear in a leading role on "Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung" in July.

[HanCinema's News] "Juror 8" Apologizes for Illegal U-Turn.

photo1062631.jpg

En route to an early stage greeting event in Daegu, a car carrying "Juror 8" cast members was photographed taking an illegal U-turn.

As the pictures started to spread through social media, "Juror 8" had to issue an apology for the car's actions.

The car was easily identifiable in part because it was surrounded by a guarded escort. In its official statement "Juror 8" said that the failure to observe the posted rules of the intersection was a result of the car moving too quickly. They apologized for any inconvenience to the people of Daegu and promised to be more careful in the future.

Another car was also seen doing an illegal U-turn in the pictures, suggesting that this may be a common occurence at this particular intersection and only noteworthy in this case because of who the car was carrying. Daegu police have said they are currently investigating the other car, which had a visible plate number in the photos.

"Juror 8" opens in South Korean theaters on May 15th. It stars Moon So-ri and Park Hyung-sik, and was directed by Hong Seung-wan. There has been no confirmation or denial as to whether they were in the car.

'Suits' Actor Park Hyung Sik Talks About His Ideal Type & Being Called Master Of Kissing Scene

suits-actor-park-hyung-sik-talks-about-h

Korean actor Park Hyung Sik has been very private when it comes to his personal life. But in the recent episode of SBS's My Ugly Duckling,

Park shared details about his ideal type and his thoughts about being called as masker of kissing scene.

The actor appeared in the show as a special MC. During the show, MC Seo Jang Hoon asked the singer-actor whether or not it is true that he is attracted to older women. Shin Dong Yup also asked if Hyung Sik has a specific age in mind for her ideal woman.

The Suits star replied that she like someone younger than his mother but added that age doesn't really matter if he loves her. Then Seo Jang Hoon asked the panel of celebrity moms about whether they would date a younger man in their next life.

Park Soo Hong's mom said she is not interested in dating a younger man. She explained that her husband is already three years older than her but still acting like a child.

But Tony Ahn's mother has a different answer. She is okay to date someone that is 20 years younger than her, before asking Seo Jang Hoon's age. Startled Seo Jang Hoon responded by saying he and Tony Ahn are almost of the same age.

Park Hyung Sik previously admitted that he never had a girlfriend since he debuts in 2010 as member of K-pop group ZE:A. In 2017, he has been in a center of dating rumor with his Strong Woman Do Bong Soon co-star Park Bo Young. Hyung Sik admitted his love for the actress in late 2018. Coincidentally, Bo Young is two years older than Hyuk Sik.

"Park Bo Young-noona, I really loved you. You were that lovable. You were truly Bong Soon. Because you were the perfect Bong Soon, it was so natural for me to love you. I wanted to love you more but I'm sad it's over," Koreaboo quoted Hyung Sik as saying.

The two has worked together in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. Since then many of their fans are hoping for a Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young reunion project once the former finishes his military service. Hyung Sik is set to start his military enlistment on June 10.

Meanwhile, Shin Dong Yup also expressed his admiration to Park Hyung Sik's acting skills and for being a master of kissing scene.

But the Hwarang actor refused to be called as such, saying there is no such thing as master of kissing. He explained that since he watched a lot of films, he learned how to make an intimate scene look realistic.

At the moment, Hyung Sik is busy promoting his movie debut, Juror 8, that is set to hit cinemas on May 15. Park will be playing the role of Kwon Nam Woo, a determined young entrepreneur and one of the eight ordinary citizens who end up serving as jury for a trial.

Describing what it’s like when they hang out, Park Hyung Sik said, “We meet often and make completely ridiculous, lame jokes. It’s so fun. They’re my only refuge, a place where I can heal.”

Choi Woo Shik recently talked about his friendship with Park Seo Joon, Park Hyung Sik, and BTS’s V!

Within the entertainment industry, Choi Woo Shik and Park Seo Joon are known to be close friends. Park Seo Joon, who filmed “Hwarang” with Park Hyung Sik and BTS’s V, introduced Choi Woo Shik to the others, allowing the group to become close friends. In a previous Herald Pop interview, Park Hyung Sik even talked about his friendship with the members of the group, saying, “They’re my only refuge.”

During an interview with Herald Pop, Choi Woo Shik elaborated on his friendship with the celebrities. He said, “Since they’re so busy, we don’t see each other often, but we frequently contact each other. They’re doing well.”

He added, “Since the fields we started in are different, people were curious about how we became friends. Even my mother asked me about it.” Choi Woo Shik also shared, “I saw the interview in which Park Hyung Sik said, ‘They’re my only refuge.’ Park Seo Joon, Park Hyung Sik, and Kim Tae Hyung (BTS’s V) are all kindred spirits.”

Choi Woo Shik explained, “You need friends to share the stress and worries that occur while working, so I completely understand why Park Hyung Sik said, ‘They’re my only refuge.’ I also think of it that way. It’s fun to share our concerns with each other, and it’s also fun to play together. They are friends like no other.”

While the status quo has changed a bit in recent years, Korean dramas tend to play it safe when it comes to physically intimate scenes.

This means that the kiss scene, as the height of romantic intimacy, is the crucial turning point in any K-drama relationship.

Kisses in K-dramas can be surprising (cue the classic wide-eyed reaction from the female lead), creative with props (the toast scene from “Pinocchio,” anyone?), or accidental (the classic “fell down on top of someone’s lips” cliché). The best of them, however, are sweet and tender and romantic, making all the hours we’ve invested into the characters’ love story worth the wait.

In addition to our previous list, here are seven actors who have made us blush with their intense kiss scenes:

Park Hyung Sik

Sometimes it can be hard for idols-turned-actors to truly turn up the heat in a kiss scene, but this veteran actor has no such problem.

Park Hyung Sik’s kiss scenes with Park Bo Young struck just the right balance between adorable and blush-worthy, and the actor proved that he has the chops to create even more intense kiss scenes in “High Society.”

Check out his cute romance with Park Bo Young in “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon!”
