In a dating world fully of busy people who tend to flirt and chase “some” relationships rather than having meaningful connections that allow them to show their true feelings, our main couple has a one-night stand. They meet again three years later, whereupon they kick off a shaky push-pull romance that’ll keep them on their toes as they fall in love.

JinWook and Yumi will meet at a Jeju resort and get caught up in a series of misunderstandings and accidents. But in the morning, she’s gone: “She disappears like the wind like Cinderella, leaving behind one shoe, and after that night, he becomes romantically handicapped, like he’s been caught up in a spell.” Thus he turns from a partying playboy to a workaholic businessman who loses his mojo. He’s irrationally angry with her for leaving without a word, or even telling him her last name, though he tells himself it’s because she’s insulted him.

Three years later, the couple runs into each other again: He’s completely changed, turning into a prickly workaholic corporate director who no longer parties or even enjoys his life, focusing solely on his job. Although thinking of Yumi still angers him, he’s been unable to throw away the shoe she left behind. One day she suddenly turns up as the new nutritionist at the company cafeteria, and although they pretend not to remember each other, as they dance around their physical attraction (and memories of that one night), they begin to wonder if this could turn into anything more, or if it’ll just end up hurting them

 

CAST of CHARACTERS


Sung Hoon plays Cha Jin-wook, a second-generation chaebol who only dates casually until he meets the heroine, and starts to change. He’s the type of guy all the woman are crazy about, but he doesn’t particularly feel anything for them and enjoys partying and going to clubs, always finding himself in the spotlight wherever he goes.

Song JiEun plays Lee Yumi, perpetually single 25-year-old lady with a bright personality that is a bit prim and doesn’t bother to wear makeup or do her hair, but somehow they get caught up in the mood of the night; She’s initially charmed by his sly, playful personality and they spend the night together and with rather conservative when it comes to dating, she’s shocked with herself when she has a one-night stand.

Kim Jaeyoung plays Jung Hyuntae, 28 years old book store owner that sells coffee and beer. He and Lee Yumi care childhood friends but he is nursing a unrequited love since they were in highs school.

Jung DaChoi plays Joo Hyeri, a 25 year old beauty-brains-charm-in-one lady that is the youngest ever announce at age 23. She grew up in a very conservative family who made sure she was well educated and capable.

The drama will be 100 percent pre-produced, and while there’s no broadcast information yet, it’s calling itself a “global romance” project that is aiming for a multinational and multi-platform release, online as well as on television.

Sung Hoon lands leading role in pre-produced rom-com drama

Sung Hoon has landed a lead role in an upcoming pre-produced drama, capitalizing on his recent and growing wave of popularity (thanks in large part to his crowd-pleasing loveline with Shin Hye-sun in Five Kids; he was also a cute sidekick in last year’s Oh My Venus). He’ll be the leading man in a rom-com that appears to be going by the English title My Secret Romance, although the Korean title means more along the lines of “frustrating romance” or “you-drive-me-crazy romance.” (I can see why they opted against a literal translation; the term gets a bit lost in translation.)

Directing will be PD Kang Chul-woo, who is also directing 1% of Anything, as well as both seasons of Ghost-Seeing Detective Cheo-yong. The drama will be 100 percent pre-produced, and while there’s no broadcast information yet, it’s calling itself a “global romance” project that is aiming for a multinational and multi-platform release, online as well as on television. That seems rather ambitious in scope to me, but I’d be satisfied if it turns out to be another cute, sweet romance on a small cable outlet, like 1% of Anything, which is my favorite currently airing show of the moment.

I’m not sure if it’s just that the descriptions provided were more thorough than usual, or because they were well-written to cater to my romance-loving heart, but this kind of story premise is exactly my kind of catnip, so I’ll be keeping a close watch on updates. My Secret Romance is aiming for a release sometime in the first half 2017.

Because seriously if you've not watched SH in FC as SM.. you missed a darn good one! I was even calling him ooooohh the next prince of comedy- rom com.. Yeah he's that captivating (to me) and good and funny w/o even trying (thanks to good character!)

(though it's probably  impossible?  NO it's possible! it's  my couple of the year!) But anyway...reading the plot.. it's some kind of whimsy Cinderella romance. I like already. Though it's next year, I'll be keeping tab with this one!

Sung Hoon In For A New Kind Of Romance

[by Ent Team] Sung Hoon has been casted to interpret Chan Jin Wook, the male protagonist in upcoming drama series ‘My Secret Romance’. 
 
‘My Secret Romance’ tells the story of sly Cha Jin Wook (Sung Hoon) and Lee Yoo Mi (no information on the casting yet) who meets three years after their first, unique, encounter: a one night stand. This comedy treats flirting and how romance can be created from fleshly memories. 

In the drama series, Cha Jin Wook is a second generation chaebeol who isn’t really serious about relationships. But his meeting with the female protagonist of the show will change him. With physical advantages and a handsome face, Sung Hoon was perfect for the role.

Last year, the actor played CEO Kang Hoon in web series ‘Noble, My Love’. His acting was highly praised by the audience. This year, he also gained popularity amongst cinema lovers in movie ‘Five Enough’, in which he played pro golfer Kim Sang Min.

Known for a perfect immersion into his characters’ lives, Sung Hoon will, this time again, satisfy the public with great acting.

you are very much welcome. I am glad I am not the only excited with this news...

and i guess we are following the same path of thought in his potential in the Romcom Area... I seriously feel like this shoulw be his niche as he builds his resume. I saw him first in NTofG and loved him in that. But i think RomCom is where he is most at home and most awesome... from noble my love, Oh my venus and of course of Five enough, he has the ability to make plain and serious things funny... which I thought only a handful can do, mainly Jo JungSuk.. prince of romcom... I can seriously see that happening if he keeps up building his projects in this category.. cause he is just so perfect in it...

as for female leading lady... hmmnnn I would be ecstatic if its Shin hyesun. their organic and dynamic and sizzling chemistry made me wait for weekends like it was the last meal of my existence. but i doubt it will happen with her still busy with Legend of the Blue Sea. and this this show will be pre produced stage tus the filming will coincide...? but until their is a confirmed other actress for the female lead, I will be wishing and hoping for SHS to be his other half in this drama

that aside do you have any other girl in mind? I would like for Jung SoMin to get another lead material drama, only because I am pretty biased with er... but other than come to mind is Jung Yumi... or kim seulgi... hahahaha any other candidates you can think of?

@czakhareina1 Thank you, Thank you for starting this thread. I love Sung Hoon I'm so happy we get to watch him as the lead in a drama  again! I'ts been a while. I first watched him in Noble My Love, then I had to watch anything he was in,   He does shine in romcoms, 

 @jongski Hello chingu I loved him as SM too, he was the only reason I watched FC's that turned out to be one of the years best dramas on my list.

I don't know who I want as his leading lady yet, I'm just excited about this drama.

Song Ji-Eun from idol group ‘Secret’ is cast in upcoming drama series “My Secret Romance” co-starring Sung Hoon. Song Ji-Eun will play lead female character Lee Yoo-Mi. Her character has never had a boyfriend before and works as a dietitian at a corporate cafeteria. She has a bright personality and conservative attitude abut love. She becomes romantically involved with Cha Jin-Wook (Sung Hoon).

Exact network to air the drama series has yet to be decided, but the drama series is scheduled to air sometime next year in South Korea.
