Think there's no full english subbed version. Youtube got only the 1st few ep subbed.

I didn't watch the whole show, but watch a bit of the Zhen Fu (Lady Zhen) storyline. While the main story is more on the advisor/minister Sima Yi....her later scenes are really sad.

Ok, the story of Zhen Fu (with Cao Pi and Cao Zhi) is quite well-known. While she admired the talents of Cao Zhi, she was married to the elder bro Cai Pi (became KIng). I believe there's love btw her and Cao Pi but they are too proud and stubborn....and Cao Pi is too suspicious and petty. He believed there was something btw Zhen Fu and Cai Zhi....and thus dislike his son (with Zhen Fu) Cao Rui too. Cao Pi also favored another consort Lady Guo more.

Eventually she feared for her son's future and decided to seek Sima Yi secretly in disguise, making a blood oath with him to protect her son.

I find the actress 张芷溪 Zhang Zi Xi (as Zhen Fu) quite good....though she isn't well-known as the other leads.

I link to the the major scenes.....here in ep 38, she and her son sneaked out of the palace....her son brought some sweets for her (will be important later)....and meeting Sima Yi. Sorry, no eng sub. Around 20:10 - 29:00.

The next scenes in Ep 40 (from 22:15 - 33:55) :

Fearing that Cao Pi will execute his bro Cao Zhi and probably disowning her son Cai Rui, she confronted Cai Pi, after some angry exchange, she promised to die in exchange. And as she was leaving (27:25), she turn back to look at Cao Pi and said "Cao Zi Huan (a more personal type of name in ancient china) If there's a next lifetime, I don't want to meet you again." If only she's more gentle and beg Cao Pi, things might not be so bad.

The King sent poison to her. She took it with the sweet her son bought her.....her final sweetness in her bitter life. When Sima Yi arrived (too late), she made the gesture over her lips, reminding him of their oath. SIma Yi started his "duty" by dragging out the young prince, not allowing him to watch his mother die...would be too cruel.

In history, Zhen Fu was considered one of the top 10 beauties in ancient china. Her death was historically more related to getting older and falling out of favors and with the King wanting to make Lady Guo the Queen...rather than other rumored stuff. After her death, maybe afraid that she turn hateful, they buried her with her hair combed over her face (and eyes) and her mouth stuffed with rice.
