Knossos Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 have no idea where to startHi I am trying to sell my car myself but I have no idea how to approach it at all. So if you guys have any experience in this, how the process goes about.. please share with me I'd really appreciate it! For example, where to advertise, how to price it, should I accept check or cash only? How long did it take for you to sell your vehicle? Was there any problem afterwards? My brakes need to be replaced.. there are about 20% there and my mechanic said that it can't go under 5% which I will disclose to the buyer but I wonder wether I should replace it then try to sell it .... honestly I'd rather tell the buyer and let him take care of it. btw, I am trying to sell 98 Honda Prelude...I think it's kinda popular at least in the used market.. hmm any help appreciated!
Guest boost Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I would post it on autotrader and your local newspaper. Both has the option to do everything online. -Go to kbb.com and enter all the required fields to find out what your car is worth -You can sell the car "as is". Tell them the minor problems that they should replace/fix soon or right away. -Cash or Cashier's Checks would do. I would accept cash since the price of the car wont be over $10K In California... it is required to have the car pass a smog test before the change of ownership. Once you pass the smog test, you will recieve a certificate which will be valid for 3 months. So i would hold off on doing the smog test until days before you put the car on the market.
Guest krn Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Craigslist is good also. And maybe Prelude/Honda forums.
