LOLOLOLOL at your comment on having HS dress up secretly then he could have just rescued the PM! Exactly correct. I was wondering why he had the need to dress up. And the guards were just gone too? That is very irresponsible of them haha. I assumed PM will be killed because usually those cart things symbolizes execution. I seen it in Cdramas before where they are in that cart and taken to the execution spot..also note his attire. It is the same one Elder Han wore too. I am glad Jeonha wasn't forgiving to all the ministers. This one stuck to DM until the very end. I wonder why. Did he live well too like Chief Jo said when he mentioned it was DM who allowed him to live well? And why is HS the only one left for revenge?  We still have those Dark Vaders.

Haha you are correct. He sure took a long time to get home unless he was not planning on going home..but just wandering about. When he left it was dark..but wasn't sunrise yet for sure. Then it was really sunny when he came into realization about HS. So for sure..a time period passed. The last reunion he had with his family was at the dungeon and it wasn't even a nice one. It was a sad and angry one. But i think all these questions could have been resolved if the plot was moved faster than just the last 4 episodes. There still would have been time to resolve everything smoothly.

Also..it was you who mentioned about HG's hanbok at the end right? It was indeed a beautiful one but why the need to change her attire from her dying one haha. Is it because CP didn't see her as Chief of PS anymore but as Head Merchant HG?  it was like she became a new person to CP's eyes. Or are we just over thinking it?

Yeah, and there were 6 guards in total who just walked away to give them private moment... SMH

Not sure if it was reflected in English translation, but I was doing my rewatching in Chinese and that PM revealed during the revelation scene that he once served the late king together with WB as imperial physician, but both were dismissed due to a mistake. Maybe that's why he pledge his allegiance to the PSH and DM because of personal grudge to late king. As for those Dark Vaders, I think they are either without fangs, or too proud ("who cares") to carry out revenge for DM since he is but just another member/subordinate under their authority?

The timing, when CP and GE brought antidote to LS, I am going to assume it is early evening, not near dawn, because when CP told GE to bring antidote to LS, it was till daylight (late afternoon?).... Hehe, we're really tearing apart some scenes... Or maybe it is the summer time, so daylight was waaaay much longer, LOL

@sakura2016 yes, yes... hopefully I can write more now that nothing is preoccupying my mind, that is until a new deadline catches up

So I rewatched the things that happened after LS was released from prison... indeed so many things happened, granted he did go carry out an investigation first, but all happened in the same day. Minister disagreeing GE as queen, GE visiting her ruined home village (that would take some traveling time, no?), CP reading her letter that was left and discovered by MC, CP having meeting with ministers, CP finding GE and proposing to her, GE going back to say goodbye and get ready to enter the palace. At the same time also, HS in disguise meeting PM and then escorting GE's palanquin.

hhhhhhh that's good enough :wink::tongue:

omo, it's really same day isn't it?!! I thaught all these events happened in couple days but no it's all in one day!! wow a really busy day that is!!

@vangsweetie637 @ktcjdrama I believe the guard couldn't release the minister since he can talk to him secretely but trying to free him in an oppen public place will make people gather on them beside the guards as well?!! and the minister was more than just a follower to Pyunsoohwe and under Dea Mok, he was helping him willingly and with no controle by the poppy poison so he's mostely a long friend/ally to Dea Mok who didn't want nor need to go against him and wanted to avenge him, why the guard is the only one left to avenge him? maybe because all their men either surrounded to our King, were killed or captured by him so the guard was the only one left plus the men in the dark masks wouldn't care to avenge Dea Mok since they were planning on killing him anyway for failing in getting rid of our King!!...as for the minister serving the late King with Woo Boas an royal physician can't be right, 1st the royal physician was dismissed ou of the palace with Woo Bo while the minister is still there in the palace if he was the royal physician who took care of our CP's poisoned condition back then he should've been aware of our his miraclous healing since the King dismissed both physicians to get keep both who knew about the incident away from the palace and our CP so he would have no one to ask and even when our prince asked one of the ministers about the royal physician and Woo Bo it was clear thta both were outside from the pelace from the minister's answer to our CP back then so the evil minister is on Dea Mok's side for another reason that we don't know of!!

Iwon't try to make logic of this because I can't find any!!

Haha we have to remember that for this drama, we have to throw out logics. Now that i think way back, the PD team did mention something about low budget. So perhaps they couldn't fit in all the scenes to answer our questions or they could have edited the unnecessary sub plots to put more scenes that will move the main plot forward. Of course, it would be nice to get a lot more but we will just do with what we already have. As for the PM..i think we were never shown his reason for loyalty to DM. He was always so loyal unquestionably so I wonder why. And it seems that DM trusted him more too which is why he was the one to make the death list. Haha as for the time frame..what a confusing tracking time haha. I wonder how much more time has passed from when CP met GE again to when he became King? Hmm..

***

Chingus..

Talking about DM..what is your favorite scene of him? We have to give credit to our big bad wolf, who made our King who he is :D

For me..i really like the scene when CP gives him the flower. That is the first time we see CP face DM straightforwardly, and even surprised DM with his wits and wisdom. He also gave the flower to DM as a symbol of his willingness to fight the cold in order to bloom. And DM held onto his words and kept the flower until they met again, 5 years later. This meeting marked the beginning of their true adversary relationship.

@vangsweetie637 my favourite scene of DM is actually the one where he died - not just because we are finally rid of DM, but because of how he held onto his pride, his conviction, that he had been doing what he had to when the rulers abandoned the people. It still made me feel sorry for him that he lost so much (his wife etc), tried to gain that much more (power to protect his family), only to lose it all in the end (power and family). It was such a touching moment when he said he wish he had a ruler like CP sooner, and I thought it gave CP even more grounds to make sure noone else became the second DM under his rule. Plus HJH's great acting helped it all

Awwww yes!! That scene! This is my second favorite scene because for the first time I actually cried for DM, chingu! And especially when he told CP that "I wish I had a Ruler like you a little earlier." I cried even more. Those words just made me feel so bad for DM. For that moment..i saw why he became the way he did. And he was impressed by CP. It was a very touching moment. And the music added more feels too. And plus..HJH acted very good

Another favorite one of mine is when he went against the QD. I love how he butted heads with her. And was actually happy to see a villain against another one haha. And QD..stood no chance haha.

@kaoriharang: thanks for the information chingu. So happy to know they celebrated KSH birthday :D and YSH hugged her in the BTS hehe.

@herina_90 same here for my favorite scene of DM, and you wrote about it very well. The scene when CP first met DM was good too because it is the first time we ever see DM being riled up.

I took a day's break to watch other shows and try to move on. I failed miserably. The withdrawal's not going anywhere, anytime soon.<_< I'm just going to power through by rewatching the OTP and some emotion rich scenes of the show. ^_^

On 7/20/2017 at 10:24 PM, kaoriharang said:

You know how these days people always take about female empowerment. I think when they compared HG and GE. People really saw HG as an 'empowered' woman, compared to GE who was always crying more or less throughout the story.

I think maybe that is why. I remember reading some comments about it and people just saying how good HG was towards CP, like how her help was actually useful. I sadly found those comments just shallow, they clearly could not see GE the way we all saw her.

yes HG was one who did not sit around and wait but then again neither was GE. I think at times, people forget that HG comes from power and influence she has the means to do so. but GE isnt, if anything from her position, I think what she did was perfectly reasonable. At times people blamed her for not knowing anything, when the question was NO ONE TOLD HER ANYTHING. So yeah she behaves like an 'odd fish' at times, because hello no one told her anything. If anything she was doing her best with whatever knowledge she was given.

my subs say the same time.

So we can conclude that the second part of the sentence "someone I should stake my life to protect" is referring to GE. It was clear that he (may not have said that he loved her, but he made his intentions clear towards her) so yes it was understood between YS and his parents that GE is someone he is willing to protect with his life.

I found that really sad actually. Not just shallow but also really sad because it downgrades human emotion and blurs the line between the right and wrong. HG had people killed for CP, directly and indirectly. She is not a good role model. No one should be admiring her ruthlessness. It's just wrong. And about GE. Just because someone cries does not make them useless or annoying or a waste. People who cry are actually one of the strongest because they are connected to their emotions. Weakness is knowing and seeing your family is bad and still supporting and even encouraging their misdeeds just to stay in power. *cough*HG*cough* Even when she came to know PSG wanted to kill CP, she wanted to protect it AND CP.

Now that I am watching the show as a whole, I am realizing just how important GE is to the plot. She was the one who found out about the pill and how it's sent every 15 days. We missed out on that when we were watching the show week by week. Her becoming the Courtlady was crucial to the plot. Not only did CP figure out how PSG controls the court and it's members, he also came to know that LS loves her fiercely and is a competition. It also laid base to LS becoming greedy for her and betraying his very reason to becoming the fake King. To help our CP make Joseon a PSG free, better place to live in. GE must have also made friends with Courtladies and come to know how everything in the palace works. I feel like the royals are somehow protected from the inner workings of the palace. GE truly became the Queen because she knew every thing.

GE becoming the To be concubine and Queen made her un-killable by PSG. It put her clearly in the public eye. That's why DM didn't have GE re-kidnapped when he found out CP was still alive even after he drank the poppy wine. She was too surrounded by Court ladies and guards to be easily kidnapped.

I am still surprised people blamed GE for not knowing anything. Like, for real? I guess they know everything to know in the world then.  If not, they stupid.

Ah, so that means the Late King and CP's mom must have figured out why CP was so against punishing GE's father. Why he got to stressed that he fainted rather than carry out the beheading. Besides didn't CW dad find CP talking to LS in GE's house, so he must have known where his son's heart lay. I love that both set of parents knew about their child's feelings.

On 7/20/2017 at 10:50 PM, ktcjdrama said:

Yes that's what he meant. Which was soon followed by his visit to DM to give him flower in ep.7 and his meeting with GE to give her necklace at beginning of ep.8. I believe his dad understood what GE meant for CP.

He certainly must have. I think I saw a flash of understanding in the Late King's eyes when our CP asked to take GE with him on his mission.

Aww..i miss this drama so much! I am writing this while listening to the instrumental osts on YT. Thanks @Ahmad Kamil for the link and videos. It has most of the instrumental osts. And thanks @kaoriharang for sending me the links :)

Haha I feel like I have dissected HG layer by layer already and the result is the same.

@YourHighness . Definitely that was one of your longest post on here but I have certainly seen your longer posts at our other threads too :D instead of going back and forth replying to your points which were very valid, I will say what I do remember from reading it twice, alongside with what other chingus already said too.

@YourHighness . @ktcjdrama @kaoriharang @sakura2016

In regards to HG..i don't hate her but I do not consider her a hero either. If only her character had been more developed then we could have seen her more in depth. She was quite underdeveloped even if she was seen as being more powerful than GE's character. I also agree. She indirectly had blood on her hands and didn't care about the people which proved right during the poppy field vs kids. And I also agree that without Gon, she could not have really truly helped CP. So a point was made that the actual savior was Gon, not HG. And this is true to its sense. Gon was always by her side and he was the one keeping tabs on CP for her. So all the information she knew was directly from Gon himself. If she had not known, she wouldn't have had the chance to plan or react. I also cannot understand where her love for CP stemmed from. If it was at that greenhouse moment..exactly what left her an impression of him on her enough to love him suddenly? Perhaps it was the fact as someone mentioned that for the first time..she felt overpowered. But if so, she should have already known CP was a higher status than the ones she has ever come across who can easily overpower anyone..so..i am quite confused as well haha. But..thing is..I do appreciate that she never tried to manipulate the relationship between CP and GE. Her infatuation to CP only circled around him and when GE was involved, she always was jealous but never became a richard simmons second lead. However her actions to me were never heroic even at the poppy field. To me..that was a suicide mission. She knew and planned what will happen all along. If she accidentally burned the field or did right at the moment without thinking than perhaps I can call her actions as somewhat heroic. The fact that she indirectly killed innocents does not make her good deeds a redemption. And most of all, we are never shown that she goes back to rethink all her wrong deeds. This means it has never crossed her mind to think of anything else but CP. Yes she is a merchant who stepped away from PS. She had powers and money. But she never truly saved CP alone. It was Gon who contributed to it mostly. Her intentions to CP was to love him..and have him love her..but he never once strayed from GE. I am not saying she has no right to love him but to consider her as a hero and someone better than GE because of all she has done for CP..is quite shallow and inaccurate. Because as I see it..GE had done an equal share for CP too. Haha. I don't think I can analyze HG anymore. You all pretty much summed her up already pretty well. I feel like my feelings on HG is still the same

***

The Osts make me miss Ruler and OTP so much! YSH and KSH were both very happy for being in this drama so I am too :)

I think HG was too busy figuring out plots by PSG on killing CP to become the typical crazy second lead. She did show the signs of it when she slapped GE and taunted her over Magistrate Han's death but she died before she could become it. I am 100% sure she would have become crazy if she had stayed alive.

Glad we feel the same way about HG. :D

Still on HG (because we love her so :D)... you know what, I think the writers have been consistent with what they want to portray of HG's character. I only realized it now but check out the promotion poster below. All other leads looking to the front, only HG is the one looking at CP... She only has eyes for him... Amazing...

Oooo..and if you notice even LS's body is turned towards GE but his face is calculating. It shows his goal, the reason why he will try to remain the fake King but the distance is too great. CP-GE on the same side, very close. Mutual love. HG sad and turned towards CP, looking at him from far away.

@sakura2016 hahaha those gifs! Our Ruler withdrawals are still very severe!

I find their reasons so ridiculous. Especially when they bring the people in..i mean, hello..Jeonha has already lived with the people. And he is an honest person. If he explains the situation, they will understand. I didn't buy their reasons at all. I am glad Jeonha used reverse psychology on them haha. If they didn't approve of his decision then he won't approve of theirs too.

I am now watching the tending wound care scene  sweet! But why do you think LS was staring at GE when they arrested him in ep 37? Is it because he knows he went crazy (LOL..is this even possible when it comes to him) or because he made her cry??

I think he realized that he lost her. He came very close to attaining her but he lost her. It was enough to make him a little crazy and unhinged.

EDIT:

Also, after re-watching the show, I have to add that I don't think Gon has a warmer heart than LS or that LS is colder. Gon's decisions and motive to save CP are not coming from an unselfish place. He is doing everything for a selfish reason. HG's dying wish. Loyalty to one does not make one a stand up person with a heart of gold. If he had done everything unselfishly, then I would have called him a guy with a warm heart but cold appearance. If he had regretted his numerous murders of innocent people, then I would have called him a warm guy. But no. Like HG his every move was motivated by selfishness. Whereas LS, he appeared cold to us but was warm. He would have stepped in and taken the strike if HS's sword had aimed at CP too. From my point of view, he did feel guilty by then for doubting and betraying CP. LS loved his mom and his sister too. He was on his way to his family. So I don't think LS had a cold heart. He momentarily went astray because of his greed and thinking he was betrayal but he paid the price for it. So did Gon by loosing the most precious person to him. So in a way, I don't think one was better than the other at all.

I think months, I think they met again when it was start of spring and he became a King by summer? hmmmm

_____

for my favorite scene of Dea Mok, I'd say his last scene like @herina_90, it showed Dea Mok's conviction and believe in what he did till the very end but also a slight glimps of the remaining humanity he still had when he knew about his son trying to save him despite everything and we can see that he acknowledged our King as a real and true King, the kind of King he was wishing for!! we can see it in his eyes how he was believing that our King is no different than the other Kings who turned their backs to their people when times go hard only for our King telling him that he'll give his shoulder to his people to lean on it and won't turn his back on them even if they'll step on his shoulder to get out from their well of dispair, that moment won Dea Mok and we can see it in his eyes!! and I love the 1st face-off between Dea Mok and our King after the 5 years that has passed!! that was the 1st time both got to share their dreams for the countery for them and us to see how they has the same goal/dream but unfortunately different believes in how to reach that goal and make the dream into a reality beside seeing Dea Mok's surprising and tempting offer for our King being turned out smexily by our King was awesome!!

LOL I am watching BOTWG and I have also given in and intend to watch The King Loves after reading the recaps, (So I will be joining @vangsweetie637 and everyone there soon  I trust the writer, let's see where it goes) but I have made peace with the fact that my Ruler withdrawal is not going to subside anytime soon. I am surprised GE and CP had such a lasting effect on me, especially since I joined the wagon so late.  But they did have a very meaningful and epic love story so I shouldn't be so surprised and yet. After a re-watch as a whole, you kinda see how everything had a reason and why some characters acted the way they did. I no longer think the writers were as bad as we thought they were when the show was airing. I think our show makes a lot more sense when it's watched as a whole, without a break.

Yup and also, look how our couple has the same position, expression and stance. Not just love but also the same goal. The poster tells you a lot. :D

Hmm I don't think it's that long? Since DM didn't have that deadly flower pill anymore I assume it's not more than half month?

It's so nicee to see BTS keep coming even though the drama ended already :D. There are so many hidden BTS, I think that KSH took selfie with YSH but didn't upload it lol.

Yeah, that's quite long, although I understand taking a huge group picture is never easy... How I wished DM, I mean the actor, was in there too... even if in his regular clothing. I understand that he went away for vacation when his scenes were done, which is why he wasn't at the wrap up party.

I'm still going to finish the drama I started (The Best Hit) but I had other priorities (our drama/Yoo Seung Ho) to look into before keeping with it!! hhhhh as for The King's love I won't be watching it though I loved the writer's previous other two dramas but it doesn't have an actor that I love and I can see a the tragic ending coming my way and I only take the risk of sad ending or even dive in knowing I'm doomed for my bisas, exp: Lee Jun Ki-->SHR :heartbreak: , Yoo Seung Ho-->Ruler , maybe I'll watch The King's love if it had a happy ending and had good reviews :D

it's surprising how we can now see the meanings within the poster more clearly now!! :D

Awwww GE looked uncomfortable with her Queen's hat - it must be very heavy - it looks like the actors were standing around for a very long time though. YSH even started swaying slightly side to side lollol

hhhhhhhhhhh so I saw it right!! not only me feeling that way!! he was so cute!! hhhhhhhh

I admire Kim Soo Hyun for being able to walk with that hat!! I feel pained myself thinking how heavy it must be...
