Plot

Boo Yong-Joo was a famous surgeon with the nickname of "Hand of God." He suddenly disappeared and nobody knew exactly why. Boo Young-Joo is now as Teacher Kim and he calls himself the Romantic Doctor. He enjoys his life in seclusion. 

Kang Dong-Joo became a doctor to win somebody over and Yoon Seo-Jung become a doctor to be recognized by somebody. After they meet Teacher Kim, they learn about life values and comfort from love. The humanist drama depicts how the two doctors meet the oddball doctor, Kim Sa-bu and become to realize the true value of life and solace of love.

The age of injustice, is called as the age of inequality and distrust. Since we’re living in a full of desire society where not only politics but also medical communities follow the tracks of money, I can’t help but to worry what if my family is ill. At times like this, a wish ‘I wish people like them to be around’, came for such kind of doctors.

‘Romantic’ nonsense. Teacher Kim is an eccentric swashbuckling doctor who is practical and cool-headed. He was once famous with the nickname of ‘Hand of God’, but now he saves many people lives with his incredible medical technique in *’Doldam Hospital’ (*literal : “Stone wall Hospital”), a small general hospital in a small city, in general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery and emergency department.

Looking like a trivial suburb hospital, but every staff including nurse moves silently and swiftly like masters in the forest do. One day, two young doctors came to the peaceful “Doldam Hospital”…

The first doctor was a young female patient who was rescued by Teacher Kim in a mountain. She was an emergency department resident, who once shouted “If you do not know love you’re not qualified to wear a doctor’s gown”, she shouted loudly in order to save one’s life in the emergency room. Written as seemingly passionate and hot-tempered but has something hidden inside, the casting of the mainstream actress Seo Hyun Jin for the role of ‘Yoon Seo Jeong’ is raising expectation.

The second doctor is kicked out from a large hospital in Seoul, a talented man but terribly rude and doesn’t have even an ounce of manners. It is said that once he was the best surgeon who did surgery easily. Being cast for the role of ‘Kang Dong Joo’, a man gifted with a talent but is wandering, Yoo Yeon Seok, the guy who shoots at the women’s heart will show a new transformation.

In addition to the fantastic combination of Seo Hyun Jin and Yoo Yeon Seok, for the drama’s key role ‘Teacher Kim’, actor Han Suk Kyu who can express ‘eccentric charisma’ well has been determined to star in the drama and is raising expectations.

[Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim] is a medical drama and a drama that shows the growth of a man and a woman who had chosen to become doctors for ‘success’ and ‘acknowledgement’ who later meets Teacher Kim and overcome their internal trauma and becoming real doctors.

Teacher Kim’s almost beyond human power medical technique in saving lives that are fading away would give an exhilarating thrill and there will be a melo/romance that will make the heart pounding faster than the urgency in the medical field.

Also, the main characters’ struggling growing phase in seeking for “real doctors” and “real life” after meeting with a genuine teacher will give us warmth during this winter to reflect on the value of ‘humanity’ that we all faintly missed.

He was born with a dirt spoon, but he wanted to live with a gold spoon. So he chose doctor as his profession. All he has are his memory, brilliant mind and a healthy body, so once he sets a goal, there’s only one option. The perseverance and patience to keep going. He would not live a disregarded or a neglected life as he wanted to be treated greatly with his name and live the life that he wants, so in 6 years after admitting to the medical school, he graduated at the top of the class and passed the medical specialist course for a surgeon as the first place in the country.

He has already been recognised by the directors of surgery department for his quick judgement and manual skills since resident period. He thought he was on the road to success since he became a top medical specialist of Korea.

However, competing against those who came from highly privileged backgrounds was tough and he missed the opportunity to operate on a VIP patient under an emergency situation. Dong Joo’s position was significantly lowered overnight. In the end he came early only to receive a transfer order to Doldam Hospital! 6 years of medical school, 5 years of internship and residency course, so he couldn’t believe that he was fired overnight when all he did in the past 11 years were solely working towards the success and fame.

So as he was wandering when facing the biggest crisis in his life, he ended up entering Doldam Hospital’s door… Until then, he did not know at all. That he’d see her again there.

Seo-Jung worked her heart out to be a doctor to gain recognition from someone. See-Jung is an ordinary person who has to give all out just to be in step with ordinary life. Her motto is that she will not stop until she becomes the doctor she has set out to be. The energy and strength that is being emitted from this body helps her to stabilise in the hospital environment, but at this time, a guy with a sharp tongue but soft heart barged into her life. Kang Dong Joo, an intern who is disrespectful and can't seem to get along with everybody else but yet filled with exceptional skills.

With a heart wanting to take care of a junior,she let her guard down, but this fellow is so short tempered that even ghost won't come near! Miserly and stuffy, without warmth and sociability. Communication skills zero! And he still thinks he is cool like that, totally laughable and difficult to handle. Impossible! Before you become a doctor, you better learn to become a person first! Attempt to train and tame such a Kang Dong Joo, you have to give him some compliments, sometimes keep him busy like a bee but also give him appropriate care and concern at the same time. With all these, surely it will help to correct this arrogant guy's weaknesses?Eh? What's happening now? This guy suddenly confesses and says he likes me?Things have become complicated now........

The site you shared seems to be talking about offering slots for the drama's PPL if I'm not mistaken? The other actress is Jin Kyung (the mom in Uncontrollably Fond) where her character's name is "Oh Myeong Shim". The other actor is Im Won Hee, and his role's name is "Jang Ki Tae".

*edit to add : The drama's production company is "Samhwa Networks" (I think Writer Lee Eun Kyung is from that company)

Seems like they're  (Seo Hyun Jin - Yoo Yeon Seok) have start shooting since 6 September 2017 (the netizen who caught them at SNU Hospital saw they're wearing a surgeon/smurf gown and hat mask)

 

 

Also today staffs ,crews and all the actors are seems doing a script reading together.

BTW! the script are done until EP.3 so we can get the teasers soon rite? 

Let's keep support all the actors , crews and the staffs of this drama!

I'm not sure if they've done script reading yet or not, but if I'm not mistaken, the one posted by "matdongs" above on Instagram is a staff meeting ^^. But I'm happy to see that they're already preparing to shoot with quite a number of scripts ready. Hopefully they will have a smooth shoot and get to prepare as many episodes as possible before airing time, so that the live-shoot will only catch up on them a lot later. 

That person seems to be from a 'location manager / director' from a company called 'Royal Quest'. He posted this photo with 'Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim' hashtag as well. This is probably where the small town's 'Doldam Hospital' will be /will look like.

I saw a YYS kfan briefly mentioned in her IG update, that she heard the day before she went there, YYS and SHJ drop by YYS's restaurant / lounge bar 'Lua Lounge' in Itaewon. It's just a what she heard, so not sure how true it is. But then again, YYS co-workers often visit his restaurant when they were doing projects together too ^^

I am actually watching now an old drama with Lim Won-Hee (Syndrome). He seems to be more in films than drama.

@fountainstripes yes! i also heard that filming will start after chuseok, but i was wondering how come they did the script reading on chuseok day itself..
