The Drama is about a Korean girl called Kang Jin Bo, who is a successful career woman with beauty and talent. She works hard and is well respected in the work place but she harbors a lot of doubts about Korea’s patriarchal wedding traditions and wishes for a freer, more egalitarian family dynamic as her father being a pro American ex military personnel and the mother being a typical Korean mother favoring the son over the daughter. She broke up with her boyfriend in Korea who tried to force her into marriage, in order to pursue her dreams and ambitions in China. At the office, she meets Wu Xiong Xi, a HR manager with whom she ran into before in Korea. Their previous misunderstanding is cleared up and they fall in love, become a couple and get married.

Jin Bo becomes a Chinese daughter in law and begins her life in a Chinese family with her mother-in-law Xu Man Li, who’s described as “prickly as a cactus.” and duo to cultural and educational background differences, they clash and have a string of misunderstandings and arguments but Jin bo is a straight up, no nonsense girl and is the one that the Chinese grandma favors. Both daughter and mother-in-law are kindhearted with only the best intentions for the family and in the end they resolve their differences and live happily ever after.

Actress Lee Da Hae has confirmed her role in a Chinese drama titled “My Goddess, My Mother,” strengthening her popularity overseas as a Hallyu star.

Lee Da Hae takes on another Chinese drama with another one soon to air: the Hunan TV drama “Best Couple” that is set to premiere on May 31. “Best Couple” is a Korean-Chinese co-production that is about two stars who are paired as a couple on a virtual-dating variety program and eventually fall in love.

Lee Da-hae will be continuing her activities in China!

The star was recently cast as a female lead in a drama entitled “My Goddess, My Mother” which is expected to premiere early next year.

The actress already have another Korean-Chinese joint production drama in her hands, ‘Best Couple’ where the actress will be romancing with a Chinese actor and Member of Super Junior-M Zhou Mi. The drama has wrapped up the filming and is set to premiere on May 31st on Hunan TV.

In her upcoming drama “My Goddess, My Mother”, Lee Da-hae will be playing a successful Korean career women with both beauty and talent who has a small eye on Korean wedding traditions. She then falls in love and gets married to a Chinese man, where she finds herself clashing often with her prickly Mother-in-law (Jin xing).

After gaining popularity through her role in ‘Little Bride’ and ‘Green Rose’, Lee Da-hae made her ultimate breakthrough with ‘My Girl’ and ‘IRIS 2’ which enjoyed massive popularity among international drama viewers. I was interested to know why the director picked Qi Liang as the male lead here. They worked together before in the last Drama for the director as second lead. So I searched and got this article, the director praised Qi saying "he way of the performance let me very surprise, he is able to make public the role of bad deduce astute, the characters in the text to play live."

So he surely made an impression on the director and as Qi said in this article "Don't Judge a book by its cover". I hope we really so good acting in this drama specially from our girl.

The article also mentioned how Qi was handpicked for one of his dramas by the producer and how he is known for his acting chops. He can create chemistry with all his co-stars. The article also mentioned that he is not handsome in the traditional sense, but his mono eyelid look has a following among fans.

Actually, I am a bit concerned about his look in the drama, because Jin Xing doesn't look that much older than him. They look more like siblings. The only way is to make Jin look older by her wearing traditional Chinese dresses.

I actually saw some pictures that seemed like taken from poster shooting for the drama for Jin Xing (although I am not able to find them again) and she was with older hair style and fashion sense compared to her look in the meeting pictures we saw.

Hopefully the visual don't distract us so much in this drama.

I saw some entries about the drama mentioning it being again 40 Episodes with 45 minutes each, one mentioned about it being aired on Hunan TV and it would air in May 2017 but I am not sure since it wasn't mentioned in any of official news. Also I may not want it to air on Hunan TV because I do think if it is on another station even if less popular, it will be more possible to skip dubbing.

@Annya I know! The actor already looks 8-10 years older than Da Hae. Unless she is the step-mother or something...?

@apqaria When you hear DH speak Chinese, she actually enunciates very well and her speech is articulate albeit slow. This might be a problem when she is acting out angry scenes that require faster talking, but since her character is Korean it doesn't make sense for her to speak perfect Chinese either. I am hoping they will let her dub her own voice after the filming so she can concentrate on putting more emotions in her speech. It is like doing voice acting but you are looking at a script so there is no need to memorise lines.

@ELY_397 Yah, actually when this project was announced I did think that one of the reason Dahae did accept it is that she will be able to act her role with her own voice and show her Chinese. The decision is usually in the broadcasting station hand and hopefully they will be smart enough to take the right and obvious way to go here because as you said it is expected that her Chinese won't be perfect and she is acting Korean anyway.

Mentioning her dubbing her own voice, I remember "Love Actually" they made all the Chinese actors dub their own voices so they could also do this here including Da-hae as well.
