 Synopsis 

Of course, Fluke Teerapat is the older (step) brother in the overly dramatic, overly tragic yet endearing My Bromance. If you've been wondering how is he doing since all we have been updated on is mostly with Fluke Pongsatorn (Red Wine in the Dark Night, Part of Love series), then Teerapat is back with a new series, but is he playing another BL character? Not really sure . . . /  There's a university system called SOTUS (an acronym which stands for Seniority, Order, Tradition, Unity and Spirit - a tradition in which upper classmen sometimes exploit and even abuse freshmen and others seeking acceptance). Junior level students are required to mentor those freshmen and be respected in return. Enter a rather assertive and vocal freshy at the Engineering faculty named Kongpob who gets to be under the mentorship of Artit, a strict Junior who happens to be the boss of his year. ~ Based on a BL novel by BitterSweet (Nabu Publishing)

 

It’s about a University. A  freshy and a junior.

Kongpob is freshy in this new place and junior Artit. In every year freshy must have a welcome from junior. And the boss of junior in this year is Artit. 

Junior have to be very hard to freshy. And every freshy have to follow the boss ´(Artit) says. 

It’s started when Konpob didn’t want to follow the ‘sotus system’ so he think that this sotus system is only for fun. But every time when he try to make things fun Artit is always angry at him. 

Kongpob like to play the role HERO too. He always want to help his friends but Artit didn’t like that. This sotus system will everyone to be a team not someone special or a person that take the role HERO. So every time Kongpob play as hero Artit is always mad. And that made Artit and Kongpob become more closer. 

And a thing more. Kongpob and Artit are live a apartment. And their apartment is very close to each other. And that is the way how Kongpob can look (from his window) at Artit (’s room) when he’s not play the role as the BOSS(well, not the angry face, not screaming at people and got watch at him when he living his normal life. He’s kinda cute, heh) . And that’s how Kongpob started to like Artit. 

A new series that is reportedly about to follow in the success of Lovesick is underway. SOTUS is another Yaoi novel getting a live action version. With close to 500k reads/views, it already has a loyal following.

"Lovesick" way (i.e. falling in love)

 

Storyline | Backgrounder: Apparently, we have graduated from middle school and are now in Uni. There's a system called "SOTUS" whereby Junior level studes are required to mentor freshmen. Enters a rather assertive and vocal "freshy" named Kongpob (Singto Prachaya) who gets to be under the mentorship of Artit (Kristtps Kasetsart). As is the usual case, when you have a pro-active freshman being told what to do, there's always fireworks. Note that Artit also asserts himself and wants Kongpob all to himself... so there's the rub!

Although I'm very excited about this new series, I have to remind and caution myself that Lovesick may have been trendy, but looking back - the change in director (Season 1 offers up close and personal approach while Season 2 is chaotic and even prejudicial to some of the characters' previous persona) was questionable. Dunno if they did some sort of "brainstorming" to polish the characters, but it turned a lot of positives into negatives. I mean, Earn and Pete, the two guys with the most interesting personalities (probably because they were played by two incredible and promising actors, Ngern and August) were turned into bit characters and waiting for them to appear on the screen is almost torture.

Some thoughts: There is no denying that Hormones trailblazed its way into the hearts of young Thais and the international drama fans, this was followed by the trendy Lovesick, so if there is a newcomer on the block, comparisons are to be expected.

 

1. Consistency in the treatment of the characters: If there are going to be more than one pairing, at least the producers should have the decency to be fair and treat the cast with respect. Some of the cast who may come later in the series may be better (more popular, more dramatic, more interesting) than the main characters. [ read: Ngern + August in Lovesick, can't emphasize this enough

2. Characters need to have some logic: I really hope the producers of this new series will learn from the mistakes of previous shows and take the negatives as a challenge to come up with something exciting and logical (at the same time).

3. 'Get real' with the live action version: After all, we are talking about raw fiction here being adapted into a TV series. The original source is not from some popular novelist or writer who underwent the process of editing and had the benefit of a publishing house who manages the literature. Having said that, I hope the live action version will focus on not so many characters and leave the audience asking for more (about the pairing) and complaining about scenes featuring #deadfisheyes.

The "Gear" is one of the engineering mechanical devices in the cogwheel system (as in a clock). Having one signifies that one is a student of the Faculty of Engineering. However, to get one, all engineering freshmen must first undergo the SOTUS (acronym for Seniority, Order, Tradition, Unity, and Spirit) system. Arthit, one of the third year seniors, often abuses his power over the freshmen by making them do things against the rules. Freshmen students are practically powerless to complain or resist any orders given by their seniors. Arthit was seemingly unstoppable, until Kongpob stood up against the abuses by the former. Fast forward 2 years later, Kongpob is now the head hazer in his faculty, while Arthit works at the Ocean Electric Company, During Kongpob's final year, he needs to find an internship company, and requests to work alongside with Arthit over his family's company, which unbeknownst to Arthit. I love the trailers eversince the first I saw it. This series seems good, and promising. Hope it fulfills anyone's expectation who watch it. And I need a fresher Lovesick "kinda" series..

And I just realize that someone up there compared this lakorn to Love Sick, and I have to laugh out really really loud. Different channel, different production company, different cast and crew, different broadcast rules between public and cable channels, and so many many more...

And off-topic but, despite many misgivings in season 2, I still love Love Sick a lot and EarnPete was my least favourite pairing, sorry to say...

I am so ready for this series. I have heard some good things about the novel this series is based on. I know it's nothing like Lovesick or Make It Right but idk that's good y'all since I honestly want something different. Too many cookie cutter bl stories get too much at times...plus it's looks like there is actual back and forth between the leads before they get together...I love that. I am honestly so hyped about this series!!
