On September 2010, Hyeri became a member of Girl's Day alongside Yura when Jiin and Jisun left the group in September 2010, just two months after the group debuted.

As actress

On 2012, Hyeri was cast in the SBS weekend drama Tasty Life. In the show, Hyeri played the youngest in a family of four daughters.

After her 4-days long appearance on Real Men in August 2014, a brief clip of her showing aegyo at her instructor went viral in South Korea; the clip had one million views in just three days.

Hyeri starred as one of the main characters in Seonam Girls High School Investigators, which began airing on cable channel jTBC in December 2014. She played a looks-obsessed member of a detective club.She also had a role in the drama Hyde, Jekyll, Me, which began airing on SBS in January 2015.

In 2015, Hyeri was cast for the drama Reply 1988. She attended the first script reading session on 10 August 2015.

In a recent interview, Girl’s Day‘s Hyeri reflects on playing the lead role in tvNdrama “Reply 1988″ and her acting plans going forward.

Upon announcement of her casting, Hyeri faced doubts about her abilities take on a lead role, but she overcame them with determination and hustle, impressing viewers with her acting ability and full immersion into her character, Duk Sun.

“I wasn’t someone who started in acting. It’s true that I am very lacking. I of course put in a lot of effort, but I don’t think that accounted for everything. I spend three to four months getting close to my character, and that’s how I created Duk Sun. It’s only now that I feel like I’ve learned a little bit of acting,” Hyeri reflects.

She also emphasizes that the success of the drama was a team effort. “I thought it was going to be difficult, but my seniors really took care of me. I learned a lot, not only as an actress but as a human being. I learned how important and what a huge blessing it is to work with good people in a pleasant environment.”

However, far from being high off the tails of her acting success in “Reply 1988,” Hyeri is measured and collected.

“I don’t want to get ambitious,” she says. “I want to move forward one step at a time. I’m not going to reject a role just because it’s not a lead. If it’s a role that fits me, I want to do it, even if it’s a small role. Instead of trying to do something I can’t handle, I want to enjoy acting.”

Great to see Hyeri thread !! I really like her and hope to see her next project. Since Hyeri and Junyeol cannot be husband and wife or couple in reply 1988. I hope to see them collaborate again as a couple in their next project if there's a chance..

Hyeri has to move away from DS role.. I hope she can take up a role as a villain or some role that is special because now that we know she is good at comedy perhaps can also act in melodrama.. since her crying scene also not that bad..

Aside from that, she is a nice and humble girl.  Based on the interview , she takes care of her family and now that she has good earnings , she brought her family members for a trip during the lunar new year.. What a thoughtful and sensible girl. If I have a daughter like her, I guess my life will be filled with happiness.Her bubbly character brings the people with joy and who wouldn't dote on her?!!

She had good chemistry with RJY.  It would be awesome if they worked together.  Though I'd rather wait a few years so it doesn't seem like it's being done to spite the end of Reply 1988 lol.  Let people cool down a bit.   Plus I also hope for more adult roles from her. 

I do think she needs to move away from Deok-Sun, but I also can't blame her for playing it safe for a bit.  She'd be good in bubbly candy roles.  I think she'll take on good projects and doesn't seem obsessed with being the lead, so that's good.

Girl’s Day’s Hyeri recently revealed that she reads negative comments about Duk Sun, her character in “Reply 1988,” and that they affect her deeply.

“I learned who the husband was a little earlier than the rest of the audience,” Hyeri said in an intervivew. “I asked the director why Duk Sun was acting a certain way and he told me. I was worried that I might have acted wrongly in certain places.”

“After I knew who the husband was, I tried hard to make the reveal more convincing,” she continued. “Rather than negative comments on my appearance or acting ability, I was more hurt when people said that Duk Sun was wishy-washy. I thought it was my fault for portraying her poorly.”

Hyeri also talked about the much-discussed love lines with Ryu Jun Yeol andPark Bo Gum.

About her love line with Ryu Jun Yeol, she said, “Duk Sun is someone who longs for love. When she thinks someone likes her, she starts to have feelings for them. I think her feelings for Junghwan were sweet and warm, like the way we feel when we’re young.”

“Duk Sun’s beginnings with Taek were different,” she added. “Ever since they were young, Duk Sun worried about Taek and felt responsible for him. She was curious about him. That’s why I think it took her longer to realize that was love.”

Hyeri also talked about how she cried a lot during Ryu Jun Yeol’s confession scene. “As soon as I saw the script I was so sad. As a viewer I felt so bad for Junghwan. Jun Yeol oppa also tried not to look at me because it would make it more difficult, but just listening to the lines made me cry even more.”

Hyeri transformed into Duk Seon from “Reply 1988” when she heard her colleagues from the show were heading to Africa.

On February 3, a preview clip of “Hidden Camera Battle” is revealed throughNaver TVcast.

In the revealed video, Hyeri hears the news that Ryu Jun Yeol, Ko Kyung Pyo, Ahn Jae Hong, and Park Bo Gum were dragged to Africa by Producer Na Young Suk.

“Is that true? That’s insane,” she says as she jumps around the room and laughs. She cannot hide her excitement and ends up falling to the ground. She even tries to contact her friends while saying, “This is hilarious. I can’t believe it.”

Fans are commenting at how Hyeri’s real life personality synchronizes 100 percent with Duk Seon from “Reply 1988.”

Yea, she definitely did a great job!! .. to add on, I remembered Jun Yeol mentioned after Hyeri has calmed down from her sadness during JH confession. She acted well without NG ( just one take). I would said she truly immersed herself as DS. Sometimes I wondered if DS is Hyeri true self..hehe because almost everyone was saying Hyeri = DS..

Girl’ Day’s Hyeri Makes Generous Donation Ahead of Lunar New Year

Girl’s Day‘s Hyeri, who is enjoying massive popularity thanks to her role in the recent hit drama “Reply 1988,” has made a generous donation to those in need.

According to local news outlet Sports Chosun, the star has secretly donated 50 million won (approximately $41,000) to Community Chest of Korea, a nonprofit organization devoted to helping the community. She did not personally inform her agency nor the press about her donation.

Her wish is for the money to be used towards improving the welfare and safety of the elderly.

This donation comes at a time of giving, with Korea currently celebrating Lunar New Year. It appears that Hyeri wanted to give back to the community after receiving much love for her role as Deok Sun on “Reply 1988.”

The upcoming year is expected to be a prosperous one for Hyeri. Having recently signed around ten modeling contracts worth an estimated 6 billion won (approximately $5 million), she has now entered the top tier of advertisement stars, joining fellow idols Seolhyun and Suzy.

I've tried my best so many figgin' time to refrain myself from posting during the ship war in AM1988 main thread and couple threads. The thing is im neither team taek or jh, im hyeri bias and really enjoyed the drama as a whole lol

On February 13’s episode of “Entertainment Weekly,” Girl’s Day sits down for an interview while filming an advertisement.

The interviewer asks each of the members to pick which potential husband they would choose if they were Hyeri’s character Duk Sun on “Reply 1988” by holding up signs. As Hyeri watches and laughs, the three other members immediately fight over the signs to get the choice they want.

Hyeri doesn’t grab a sign, and so the interviewer asks her which one she’d like. “I’ll live alone!” she replies.
