How do I ignore a topic?

Is it possible to ignore a topic like how we can ignore a user? We can see 'Hot Topics' or 'Popular Topics' on the sidebar so even if I just enter the thread I want, I also cannot avoid seeing the existence of topics I dislike.

You can't. It's all or nothing

A bit similar to what you want: you might want to make use of the Activity option. You could go there (next to the forum tab or right here) and go to "My Activity Streams" followed by "Content I follow". It would, however, require you click the "follow" button on each topic you're interested in.

 You may want to follow these instructions shared by @liddi This way you can just access the threads you follow without going into the Forums.
