Gary and Song Ji Hyo Talk About Their First Impressions of Each Other on “Entertainment Weekly”

Song Ji Hyo and Gary, also known as the famous “Monday Couple” from SBS’s “Running Man,” sit down for an interview on January 9’s episode of “Entertainment Weekly.”

The show catches up with the pair while they’re shooting a medication advertisement together. During the interview, the two stars are asked to compare their chemistry on “Running Man” versus on the advertisement set.

Song Ji Hyo says that she feels their chemistry together more strongly during their ad filming, since they’re away from the group. “The funny thing is that we’ve never met on our own outside of the show before,” she says with a laugh.

When asked about their first impressions of each other, Gary says, “They say that actresses have an aura of their own. I didn’t think that was true, but when I saw her, I realized it was.”

Song Ji Hyo replies, “It was my first time on that kind of a program, so I didn’t notice anyone at all.” Gary bursts out laughing, and Song Ji Hyo adds that she was just so nervous about the show and so busy thinking about what she needed to do that when they first met, she just answered Gary as though she was in a daze.

“What other variety show would you recommend to each other?” asks the interviewer. “Gary would be really great on a variety show with a lot of talking,” says Song Ji Hyo. “Maybe it’s because he’s written lyrics, but he’s so great at speaking. Women really like it.”

As she laughs, Gary says with a smile, “You’re the only one it hasn’t worked on.”

At the end, the interviewer asks them to share their wishes for each other for the new year. They both laugh at the awkwardness as they hold hands and look each other in the eye. “I hope that you will find someone in 2016,” says Gary.

“I was going to say that to you!” says Song Ji Hyo. “I hope that in 2016 you are successful in love, work, and business.”
