I don't like the melodramatic elements of the novel, but the funny parts make me tolerate it a bit, at times it's very ridiculous and hilarious. This is a scene in Vol.2 where they're playing hard to get.

BLY and GH finally welcomed each other into their lives again, but they hadn't said anything concrete about their moving forward with the relationship yet. BLY came to GH's office to wait for him to go back to GH's home to eat lunch (what's with the many to's lol), but GH being GH made BLY change his mind.

Unexpectedly, BLY didn't get in the car but walked to a nearby restaurant, GH asked from behind, "What are you doing?"

"Trying this place's food for a change." BLY walked to the door.

GH calmly reminded, "There's nothing you like in this restaurant."

BLY turned around, the corner of his mouth hid a sly smile, "Your place has my favorite food, yes, but I can't eat there anymore. I can't get used to eating other people's meals just like that, you see, only a couple of days having lunch at your house and now I have to watch your mood to park in front of your office."

He entered the restaurant. GH gritted his teeth, BLY, how can you still provoke me like this?

So, GH also went in.

BLY was in the middle of ordering, seeing GH walk in, asked incredulously, "Hey, Director Gu, aren't your cooking excellent, why eating out?"

GH dropped a word, "Lazy."

BLY shouted, "Another table setting please!"

However GH didn't sit at BLY's table but the adjacent one.

Hatred filled BLY's inside, GH, good for you! You want to play hard ball? Two more days and I'll be back at the base, you won't be able to find anyone to annoy even if you want!

The waiter came to BLY, looked at him and then glanced at GH, asked quietly, "Is there more people?"

BLY hardened his face, "Put it over here, in front of me."

He then placed the food around in front of him, as though there's someone facing him.

And so, they sat at two separate tables, nonchalantly having their meals as if the other didn't exist, without a word. GH of course couldn't get used to the food, but he was already here, just as well tried to have a good appetite.

"Here, eat this, it's kinda delicious!"

From his side came BLY's voice, he dropped the chopsticks in his hands, took a peek over, and almost sprayed all the rice in his mouth out.

BLY ate by himself, with no one facing him, yet he put a lot of food in the other bowl, happily talking with the dishes and utensils. Like a mentally ill patient.

GH wanted to vomit blood.

"This fish, I've already picked out all the bones, didn't you use to pick fish bones for me? Today I'm gonna do it for you. Is it delicious? Really? Look how messy you are, your chin is eating your food, here, wipe..."

Cold air swirled around, two patrons left, the others looked at BLY, pity in their eyes:

"Oh God, that guy, he seems so nice, how come he becomes like this?"

"Definitely has been through a rough trauma."

"I'm sure his other half's gone."

GH choked on his rice, mixed feelings stormed inside.

Suddenly BLY asked another question, "Gu Hai, the food I got you, isn't it lovely?"

GH's face burned into black ash, BLY, I'll kill you, I'm not dead yet!

Even after being pushed into the car by GH, BLY couldn't stop laughing.

Well, if this news "China seeking help to improve its image" is true, maybe the PR films can share with the Chinese government not to be too hardline when it comes to the entertainment industry too.

I am sure everyone here will agree that it has worsened its image by not even allowing the boys to stand together.

"I promise someday...we will show them," Jing Yu says determinedly, his fingers lightly clasping the smaller hand for just a fraction of a second. He then ducks away, before his absence is noticed.

Wei Zhou takes a deep breath. A subconscious smile playing on his lips as a ray of faint hope starts to bloom in the deepest recess of his heart. Yes, he believes. In him.

Under the lone spotlight, Jingyu stands tall behind the podium, his eyes sweeping the packed auditorium amidst the whistling catcalls, thunderous applause and resounding cheers. His large hands clutching the coveted trophy tightly and  he puts a finger to his lips, asking for silence  from the ecstatic audience. He smiles or rather half-smirks, drawing appreciative sighs from the female audience, his eyes now lock with another pair of bright brown orbs amongst the front-row VIP. And then, he takes a deep breath, his vetted thank you speech a forgotten item in his pocket. 

“I actually had a written speech, vetted, prepared and memorised…well, just in case I win,” his mellowed voice captures everyone attention, before collective laughter rings out. They all love his wry sense of humour and straightforwardness, something that has not changed since his explosive entrance into the entertainment circuit some eight years ago. “But since this is my night, do indulge me and first, I would like to give my thanks to…”

“And finally,” Jingyu pauses, his facial expression softens considerably, “I would like to thank YOU. You who was and is still by my side all these years, encouraging and loving me. With no expectation of anything in return. You, whom, I made a promise to 8 years ago to do us proud. We did it. I love you.” 

Jingyu  knows he might just get into deep trouble for his uncensored speech but he also knows he has to do what he just did. As he takes his seat, his companion for the night turns to him and despite being shrouded in darkness, Jingyu could make out the slightly misty eyes, obviously touched by his sudden public declaration of love. 

"You are an idiot,” the other says with a low growl before letting out a beautiful blinding smile, conveying how he really feels, about him, about them. He laces their fingers tightly just for enough warmth to course through their veins before letting go.

Jingyu chuckles before retorting, his hand grabbing the younger man’s slipping hand,  “Yes but I am your idiot, Zhouzhou.”

The pair of lovers return their attention to the stage, next to each other, at their rightful place  as they vow silently to walk the rest of their lives …slowly but together:
