MBC Starts Preparing for 2016 Idol Star Athletics Championships

MBC has started counting down to its annual Lunar New Year special “Idol Star Athletics Championships.”

The filming will be held on January 18 and 19 at the Goyang Indoors Sports Hall. On the first day, MBC is planning to hold the opening ceremony, along with track and field, wrestling, and archery. The second day will be spent filming futsal matches.

This will mark the 12th time for “Idol Star Athletics Championships” to be held. Despite some calls for cancellation from fans concerned about injuries, the show has been consistently brought back to entertain viewers over the Lunar New Year holiday.

From January 4 to 8, fans interested in attending the filming will be able to participate in a ticket lottery through MBC’s website. The winners will be announced on January 12 at 3 p.m. KST.

“2016 Idol Star Athletics Championships” is expected to air on MBC in early February.
