But when Zhao Yun becomes embroiled in a love triangle with the beautiful Xiaohou Qing Yi (Yoona) and another great warrior, Gao Ze (Kim Jeong Hoon), will he discover that battles of the heart are the most dangerous of all? “God of War, Zhao Yun” is a 2015 Chinese drama series directed by Yong Guo Jian. I think the entire approach to the drama was fundamentally flawed. More often it felt like two dramas that didn't quite mesh together. There was certainly not enough there for a 60 episode drama. I suppose someone had the bright idea of doing a Three Kingdoms drama with wuxia and romance elements but the execution leaves much to be desired. To turn Zhao Yun into a Jing Yong hero was eye-rolling stuff but the love triangle was poorly conceived and executed. I didn't find much to really enjoy there. It's not a criticism of the actors, Chinese or Korean but how the characters were written.
