YG Entertainment gave an explanation as to why CL‘s single “HELLO richard simmons” was released late to online Korean music sites.

On November 21, CL’s new single “HELLO richard simmons” was uploaded on SoundCloud and was available to download for free. Later on December 5, the single could be purchased for download and streaming across various music sites.

YG Entertainment explained, “The reason why we decided to release the free song late to music stores in the country is because fans have been interested in CL’s song, even putting her on the real-time most searched on MelOn, the biggest music site in the country. However, the fans were experiencing inconvenience because they could not listen to the song on those sites.”

MelOn and many other music services require a subscription to stream music.

Meanwhile, CL’s “HELLO richard simmons” achieved great success after release, claiming a spot in the top 10 on many music sites. She performed the song last week at the 2015 MAMA.
