Hypotesis 2: assuming this drama is an interview then why JH is the one who got an ep dedicated for him hence he's the husband

We all know that both JH-TK agree that their friendship are more important than girl, no matter how much they like her.. The guy (whoever he is) love story with DS only begin when one of them is being rejected or retreating.. So a guy will get his dedicated scene for letting his feelings and got rejected..and then we see JH try to confessed and we see DS distracted.. Her answer is loud and clear, she has someone in her mind and it's not JH.. 

Edit: Hence, it doesn't make sense if JH is the husband when DS rejected him.. His dedicated scene is his approval for SunTaek to start their love story, not to verify he's the husband

And may I add that the way they concluded this episode (ep 18 entitled "Goodbye , My First Love") is like ep 15 entitled "Between Love & Friendship"? I've read some posts here that ep 15 was actually for Taek realizing Junghwan also likes Dukseon thus the title "Between Love(DS) & Friendship(JH)". How that scene wherein Taek was watching his surroundings while DS and DR was dancing, he saw JH looking at DS with such loving eyes and concluded that JH also likes DS because Taek was also looking at her that way. And so in ep 18, it's really understandable how it's entitled as it is as what explained by @minibunny  It was that scene wherein JH realizes that DS likes Taek because of how she was looking at the door thus still looking for Taek after he confessed. The title "Goodbye, My First Love" is written all over that scene and it shows how similar it is in concluding one episode that would relate to the title. That was JH's go sign to let go of his feelings for DS thus saying goodbye to her. It actually doesn't need rocket science to figure this out.

I just wanted to share this DC netizen's speculation about why DS 2015 is being interviewed. Somehow it feels like writer-nim was quite inspired by this article. This is from an interview of the wife of Lee Sedol, another top professional baduk player.

haha so did the writer inspiration for ep9 China arc based on this story i wonder

because obviously something change after DS witness first hand the world of baduk and the cool Choi Taek since she start seeing him as a man and slowly stop treating him like a kid after that, even stuttering when he rest on her shoulder for first time and he the one who start petting her head while she stop doing that 

their China arc is really very important timeline for the beginning of their love line, when Taek confirm yes she is the one and DS seeing him in different light

Hey guys! This is my first time posting in this topic haha. Let's just say I was a chilbong fan and a lowkey taek supporter. Honestly I thought the husband was junghwan until the recent episodes. And I just wanted to share with you guys what the kfans have shared on DC which I thought was really really interesting.

Remember when people noticing about Bora and Deoksun's parallels. This is interesting. Remember Bora's 1% theory? On that day where she got lied that she still have a date on in front of Taek and Junghwan, she was basically betting on that 1% too. Why would I say this? Back in episode 17, Deoksun really cared about how Taek cancelled their movie date. She even asked, "Am I really nothing to him? Right, I'm obviously nothing." Back to ep18, she knows that Taek has an important Baduk match but she took that 1% bet hoping that he will come even though he had an important match (which, of course, he did!) Taek ran to Deoksun and she asked him, "What are you doing here?" Proving that she was not nothing to him, he could give up an important match just for her.

Of course, there's a possibility that this theory can be Deoksun taking that 1% bet to Junghwan too. However, right after that scene, it was cut to Bora's scene where she talked about the 1% theory. So... I'm still leaning towards Taek being the husband. I'm posting here instead of the main thread because I'm kinda scared of JH-DS shippers. :S

Btw, I'm new to this thread and my last visit here in soompi forum was she was pretty era thus the avatar at the moment.  I already watched ep 1-11 of reply 1988 and I was waiting for it to end before I'll continue watching. We all know how it feels watching a drama when we'll wait for 37375858823838 days for it to be aired + 3285823582 days for it to be subbed, right?  Then, I came across with PBG and Hyeri's bts vids on reply 1988 via YT and they were really pretty close off cam.  So I was starting to become a fan of both of them and wished they were the end game of this drama. I knew someone would make a forum of these two cutiepies and so after I've found it, that's the time I was lurking here and there until I read @minibunny's post and added some touches. I hope it's not too late to join this thread even though we're down to two episodes.

So i just finished revisiting EP18, and here's little insight about it. Outside the confession scene (where she obviously looking at her beeper and door all the time) and concert scene (where miracle happens), we do get a glimpse of Deoksun's feeling in the episode.

 

1. The night after celebrating Taek's birthday, DS shows her long face again (similar to her expression on EP17). What could happen on that night that make her look like that? My best guess is it's about the conversation where Taek is said to always go to so many blind dates, and that many girl fall for him. I think outside of that, there's not much thing from the party that could make her goes like that. 

It kinda confirm her about her 'other image' about Taek. She saw him smoke (EP9), she got told he like a girl and he's going to confess (EP14), her friend told her TK might think of her as an easy girl (EP17), all of that kinda form an opinion inside DS mind that there's "another side" to Taek. The fact that he goes to so many blind date somehow fit with that side, and she's feeling uneasy about it. Basically, jealousy? 

2. The night before the Lee Seung Hwan concert. She makes a long face once again seeing the concert ticket.What happens this time? I think it's because she learned that night that Taek knows about her concert date beforehand. Taek knows but do nothing about it. Maybe she's hoping that Taek might stop her from going? Or she hope that it's actually him that goes to the concert with her? Or something else?

I get so conscious when i try to post something taek & ds related on the main thread when it comes to color theory hints, so i might just post them all here. ^^ also thank you @kilaalaa im blushing rn  youre right everyone here is amazing 

(There's a reason why props and the color theory are very much viable in 88', even the writer acknowledges it by naming one of the characters after a color (bora) and creating a necklace motif that says purple. And also the constant showcasing of the colored dolls. This isn't just something that fans somehow deluded themselves into. It's a culture already of the series. So that's why if anyone's wondering why fans keep on posting about colors, it's because they're clues.)

Just another random thought. ..

In ep 16 when when TK ask DS to return JH's wallet I wonder if DS check out his wallet. Because her action here  reflects her true feelings.

1) She open JH's wallet & saw their picture.  No matter how harebrained she is surely she'd realised JH like her. So if she still likes JH, would it bother her that much when TK cancel their date when she supposedly to be more giddy abt JH liking her?

2) She never open JH's wallet. So isn't she curious abt the guy she's crushing? Why won't she take a peek? Unless  she's no longer has any interest in JH, therefore she's not interested to see what's inside his wallet.

3) She look inside his wallet & saw the picture but in didnt matter to her anymore, but then she seems so confuse why TK suddenly distancing herself from her. If she saw the pic in JH's wallet she would have guess its because of JH.

So my bet is no 2, DS has no interest in JH any longer to even bother abt his wallet. She has move on from JH just as she did SW. She only has TK on her mind since then & he still in her mind 5 years later.

Now, the reason DS lie abt the kiss, my answer is simple. ..she was shy! It was her first kiss, she responded like that to TK kiss, now fully awake he can't even tell if it was real. Of cos she's not going to tell. She wants him to come to her with a clear mind & kiss her again....

JH getting married?  If the venue was at the air force based than I'm sure it must be him...with the girl who pick up his fiancée ring! He has to go first & find his happiness too, so that TK & DS can be completely happy & without guilt.

I finally caught up on 15 pages of posts and I feel like i have been through a rollercoaster.  Or met a person with a multiple personality disorder like KMHM. 

let's have faith. Remember, I was one of those who did not believe and focused on DukSun. Yet. I am now convinved the husband is Taek. The writing makes sense, structurally, if viewed that way.  So do all the clues you CSI found.  

 As many of you noted, this time around, it is not so much about first love, but about learning what love, as opposed to crush and friendship/kinship, is. DukSun is so kindhearted and yet so wanting love, she had to learn that love is not about reciprocating someone else's love but falling in love for yourself and from loving yourself and wanting to give out from oneself.  We now know who she fell her despite or in spite of her friends, and overtures by the guys. She fell for Taek, watching him be the man he was despite her preconceptions of him being childlike and inept.  

Goodbye my first love, title of episode 18, meant just that.  closure for JH. 

Now, let's see how Taek and DukSun gets together as adults. 

Regarding some questions people had about Korean weddings, I think I can answer some since I have been to Korean wedddings in 1993-1995 and even one at the Korean air force facility.  Back then, if people had western wedding, they had no bridal party (maids of honor) who stood up with them.  Thus, it is normal for DS not to be in formal wear.  The military facility can be used by non-military as long as military person requested the use of the facility and attends.  My cousin head his weddingat the air force due to his best friend, who we had always treated as family, was an air force captain. Thus, the wedding hall venue does not mean JH wedding.  Based on photos, I think it is Sw and Br wedding. Plus, korean traditions require older siblings to get married first, especially back then. DS could not get married before Bora.

one thing i admired about JH  shippers are that they are so optimistic and so confident... and they're so brave..

they didn't even flinch,, i wish i got that sort of security blanket... i wish i fear less and trust more...
