melleri
@salz very true. it did come down to it being her choice. And every husband (as I linked before) said they didn't know before the end, so it's common. And I like how he said he didn't know he would be the husband, but Taek was devoted to DS and spent a lot of time with her. So he's saying he sees how he's the husband even if he won't really say it. I honestly like how he said it more than other people not understanding her choice or saying she should have made a different one. It wasn't their choice, but Deok-Sun's choice and her feelings. It wasn't about what the guy's felt or did. And yes I'm glad he said he wanted her to be happy. Hyeri said the same thing. I also really like how they aren't totally sure about how the plot is going. They are in there blind, and only know things when they watch the episodes like us. So, I can see again why he wasn't sure about the dream kiss.

I have this thought that he is aware Hyeri is the best person to talk about the husband choosing game in and no position to talk about the husband hunt process since he and RJY when it came down to the choosing part, they were both at receiving end of the stick. And I can see that he took utmost care to watch his words by not projecting his personal feelings to his character TK and consequently avoid fanning shipping wars or ruffling people's feathers he worked with. Like the exemplerary young man that he is, he directed focus on the good parts about his Reply1988 experience. Looks like he thought very hard about the questions that would come his way and listened to those who counseled him about what best to say. Very good PR indeed as @mangachickava said -------------- ETA: Bogummy also said it was all down to who will make DS happy, much like what Hyeri said. Out of the three (in the love triangle) I think these two really understood their characters well and the writer's intent.

She did not want Taek to find out, because SW was her brother-in-law and Taek’s step-brother. Little did she know that Taek had already found out about SW. It was not uncommon for DS to lie. She lied a few times, especially when it came to protecting her pride as a woman. First, it happened in Taek’s room. Then, she lied about the concert. Finally, she lied again when Taek came to her rescue. Whenever DS lied, she tends to repeat herself over and over again. That’s a telltale sign. We didn’t know how frequently she lied until ep 18, so we were inclined to believe her. But look at their dialogue again. Taek: Who did you give the chocolate to? It wasn’t me. DS: Jesus… Why did you read someone else’s diary? Huh? Why? Taek: Who did you give it to? DS: (loudly) I gave it to you! Taek: You want to die? It wasn’t me! DS: (softly) Yeah, it was. It wasn’t you? (avoiding eye contact) Yeah, it was. Taek: I’ll come back after a smoke. (Taek leaves) DS: It was you! Taek: (off camera) I told you, it wasn’t me! DS: (after Taek left) Geez… it was him. It’s been almost 30 years, so I guess he forgot. He was so smart back then, too. Just moments earlier, DS was reading her diary. She should remember exactly who, how and when she gave the chocolate. But she quickly lowered her voice and avoided eye contact. Taek knew her too well. He could tell immediately that she was lying, so he excused himself to avoid further conflict. Only after Taek left did she continue to insist her stand to the reporter. I agree with you're chocolate theory , I've been processing about the chocolate mystery but can't solved it. after read your chocolate theory part 1 and part 2. Yours is most logical one.

Yoo Seung-ho, Seo Gang-joon and Do Kyung-soo? (Asked by: Anne Susano) A: I’ve never thought of them as competitors. My parents always tell me that I’m not acting to compete with anyone but just to do what I enjoy doing, and to be thankful for having that opportunity. Some of them have more experience in acting than I do, which means I have a lot to learn from their acting. If I get the chance, it would be nice for all of us to hang out together. Q: How do you feel about being compared to Zo In-sung, both in appearance and acting-wise? (Anne Susano) A: It’s a huge honor to be compared to Zo. I met him at a private meeting with other people. It’ll be great to play a brother or childhood role of his character in a film or TV series. Q: Who are your biggest supporters other than your fans and family? (Ana Vo, Allegra, Han) A: People at my agency. They have trust in me and helped me to be where I am now. I really appreciate what they have done to make my dream come true. Q: How are you so natural with women? (Asked by the Kpop Herald) A: Maybe having a sister 10 years older helps. Both men and women feel awkward when they’re in the same room for the first time. I think guys have to lead conversations and be a man. When I was shooting a kiss scene with Hyeri, I was really nervous because it was the first on-screen kiss for both of us. I was shy too, but I pretended to be okay and tried to make Hyeri feel comfortable. Q: Do you think it's possible to get married to your first love in real life, like Deoksun and Taek? (Asked by the Kpop Herald) A: I don't know. It depends who you are with. I'm not dating right now, so I can't really related myself but I guess it's possible if you have faith in each other. I think about this a lot these days. You're living with one woman with the rest of your life when you get married. I'm trying to pray a lot to meet the one. Q: Who was your first love? (Asked by the Kpop Herald) A: I met my first love in middle school and dated her until I was in high school. I can't remember the exact year we had dated, but we did date for a long period. We also broke up a few times in between. When I meet a girl, I date her for a long time, than just being in a month or year relationship.

I'm myself ordinary, but when I focus on something, I tend to concentrate on that one thing and get absorbed, too. When I act, I focus on one person (that character) but with my personality I'm not good at multi-tasking so once I began acting I have never been able to date anyone (laugh). Ah, but I can tie my own shoes and I'm not the kind of man that needs someone to take care everything for him. Popular Post snolaxy
im loving everything im reading. thanks everyone for sharing and for the translations. adding on bits and pieces ive read as we wait for more exact translations. sorry for the bad english and grammar and repetitive answers, im just typing along as i read. when did you know that you are handsome/good looking? *starts to smile like Taek* .. sometimes when i look at the mirror.. i'll think to myself.. Ahhh thank you! Dad, Mum thank you! previously RJY mentioned that he tried auditioning for Taek. PBG said he is the opposite, he cannot act JH's character. during audition when they asked if he can curse, he cant and started to panic as he really wanted to be in this drama. any other character from reply 1988 that he feels he can try? pd said that from DS to jinjoo, everyone is the main lead. pd is really good at choosing actors/actresses. getting a character that fits you is a gift. he managed to capture pd's heart with his tears. during audition, he acted out reply 1994 crying scene of Chilbong calling his mom in the telephone booth. pd told him the original Choi Taek is very different. after he was chosen, the character changed a lot. although he doesnt know how the original Choi Taek is like, he is just grateful to have met this Choi Taek. talking about the fame after reply 1988 and the 'reply curse'. pd told them that is a side that he feels apologetic (to them) for. pbg doesnt let that bother him too much, it is already a 'family honor' to be chosen, thankful for the opportunity. other than Yeo Jin Goo, he also hopes to work again with the reply 1988 family. in the drama he spent a lot of time alone, it's a pity. if he has a sister, which character from reply 1988 will he introduce to her? i want to introduce everyone! if i have a sister, i will definitely dress her up nicely and buy her pretty clothes. at home, he is the maknae, has one older brother and one older sister. found out from parents he is an 'unplanned' child. he gets a lot of love at home, when he wanted to be an actor, there was no objections and they all hope he can meet good works. his dad said if you remove 1 from 10, it becomes 0. meaning even if you do 10 good things, if you fail in just one, it becomes nothing. did the pd give special instructions for the princess hug scene? pd said to show a different side of Taek, the point is to portray a man that you can depend on. it was really cold that day, Taek's clothes are really thin, Hyeri is really light. *laughs* what type of girls do you like? someone who takes good care of me, learn from each other, care for each other, can help fill each other in areas lacking. someone who is like a friend, at times like a mother, at times like a sister, i like this feeling. havent been in a lot of relationship, he is the type to maintain long relationship. last relationship is before debut. how about girls like DS? of course (i'll like). she is lively and cheerful, and is so good to Taek, whether as a friend or woman, i'll like. difference between him and Taek, he doesnt know how to play baduk, but he knows how to tie shoelace. he never tried to find out about the script but hyeri did and said she found out in ep16. she was shocked, dizzy and amazed. 16-17 years of feelings that is piled up slowly, other than baduk, his friends are everything, one can feel Taek's love and heart without the need of any explanation. he only know he is the husband near ep 19-20. there are a lot of things hidden from us in the script, he even thought the dream kiss is a dream. DS and his script are different. his script only has DS asking what dream and then off to school. he later found out extra details for DS's expressions and inner emotions are only in DS's script. they were also given scripts with the adult scenes torn away. after returning from phuket, he was kidnapped after mubank, he thought they were going home as it is the same route, but he ended up at the airport again. when he saw na pd it feels like seeing a star/celebrity. an honor to be in YOF, he used to imagine to be on a reality variety show at least once, now dream has come true. in the drama he didnt have a lot of scenes with the hyungs, managed to get closer thanks to this trip, to him that's the biggest gift. between love and friendship, which will he choose? he has thought of this question before. if the person he loves marry his best friend, it would be a really really big shock/hit, so he will choose love. any NGs for the kissing scene? yup when their nose got into the way lol

I love that the 2016 couple scenes always carry "cues" that evoke some detail or pathos behind TK-DS's long relationship. We should do a big compilation post one of these days. For now, just focusing on this moment alone, there's plenty material to cover. Bridging off of @13infamyss's post, from this scene we also got-- Husband Taek intuitively knew DS's bathroom request is more than just a bathroom request, and followed his wife, knowing she'll want to 'talk'. Which brings us back to Tuesday Feb. 14th, 1989: When most kdramas literally throw the heroine under the bus (or under the ocean *cough mask cough*), and the hero is required to play superhero and leap off buildings (though I do love you Healer hehe), I really appreciate how the writer chose the bathroom here. "Going to the bathroom" is a simple but banal human actively. Common and instinctive but deeply private and less-than-romantic. Notice JH and DR's reactions to DS's bathroom runs (and I won't even bother screencapping their "ews" when DS heads to the bathroom in ep. 10): Hide contents Although DS is close with all the Ssangmun-dong boys, TK stands out in this instance. No "ews". No "geez." With the other boys and with her family, Deoksunnie often resorts to 'loud' pleas to be noticed and understood ("do I look pretty?" "How do I look in my new jacket?" "I like fried eggs too!!"). But TK has always been able to read DS's needs and be there for her in the least intrusive way possible. He takes in all her little white lies and accommodates her vulnerabilities. He sees beyond the surface antics and understands her intimately. Between suntaek, nothing flashy or convoluted is required. No elaborate secrets. No dramatics and histrionics. Their bond is profound but simple-- a steadfast holding of the hands; the assurance she won't change and he'll be there. He'll be there. Waiting just for her. Deoksun-ah, you got your wish: -- Also, the set design for ep. 12's restaurant scene says so much about the emotional 'geography' of DS's heart: For those of you who are unfamiliar with R88's color scheme, SW = RED, JH = BLUE, TK = GREEN, DS = YELLOW (lol notice that yellow light cast over LMY's posters?? PD Shin, you detail oriented beast). The set design here = the chambers of DS's heart. Near the door is SW's red-- that surface blush of first crush. The middle period comes JH, a coming-of-age exploration of what it might mean to think someone likes you and that sweet possibility of having a " omg boyfriend for reals". And then, in the back ... in the deepest chamber of her heart, is TK. Dear, wonderful TK who is always in the back of her mind, forever embedded in its deep recesses. Her love for him has always been there, but it's a matter of subconsciousness vs consciousness, sexual awareness vs innocent devotion. -- Bonus no. 1: Traffic lights - red light or green? Sorry JH, your fate was clear in Ep. 9, but Ep. 18 had to make it literal. Evil PD, really. Hide contents -- Bonus no. 2: 6 pm, the hour of Taek daebak... you have an eagle eyes.. saving it to my brain, and using it when I rewatching R88 . thank you for pointed it out.

Popular Post shooastrid
Hi all! I just want to remind you all that we will have rewatch as usual, covering Episode 3 “Not guilty if you’re rich, guilty if you’re poor” on Saturday, 1 pm UK timezone! Please please stay tune! The target is to dissect even further the text, and get our thread to 500+ pages. It's really satisfying when we see that this shipper's thread are able to become hot topics and even appears in Popular Now section in Soompi lol. We can do it! Let's not have the spirit of Ssangmundong die too quickly. Based on some advices that I received through PM, some people maybe won't be able to join the rewatch in the decided time. If that's the case, please feel free to start the discussion for Ep 3 earlier or continue where the latest posts end to carry on with the discussion. I will not be able to join the rewatch, however I will jump in to the discussion after the rewatch. It's an interesting episode, as the love lines became clear, with two ports were revealed to be possible husband contender : Sun Woo vs Jung Hwan. We may notice more details otherwise missed. So please join us everyone!! EDIT to add: Also reading PBG's interviews, I was like, man, he is such agents' dream talent. The way he carried himself, the way he answered the questions are just the best possible way to Public Relations yourself. He is very smart with his answers, mature too. If personality matters for the team to decide who gets which role, then I can totally see the connection between PBG - Choi Taek. He really embodies his role, vice-versa. If I were his agent/ manager I wouldn't hold my breath of the outcome of his interviews/ media exposure. I mean it's less stressful compared to Cheon Song Yi's manager, obviously... Lol.

Like may be she sat there watching first, then him sending her home ect. And probably they shoot even more act than just the kiss , so even its to hard to imagine even for actors what the pd has in mind. Also as per ep 17 they too probably thought it was just a dream since he might think the part HR's sitting & watching him sleep was edited out, not knowing it's for ep 19. However I too doubt if he only find out at ep 19 because HR knew since ep 16, surely she talk to him abt it ? Hmmm... The dream kiss happened in episode 17 and Hyeri already knew that time that Taek is the husband. Her shot practicing how she should greet Taek can be taken while the other actors were not watching. Or they can just also shoot those added scenes after the 17th episode was aired. They could just make them wear the same clothes and have their hairs done the same way.
