@hafunohane I'm not @Meliere but in JH's car scene after confessing (when it was raining and his head was down) it was announced on the radio that Taek yielded to his opponent because of personal reasons. Or something along those lines, I have a bad habit of doing other things while watching dramas >.<

Edit: I was rewatching ep 18, it was after the concert not confessing. I'm  dumb, it wouldn't have made any sense if it were after confessing and then taking it back and saying it was a lie

JH HAD the right timing! He was there in TKs room with DS to see her like those gloves/mittens. He got them to her on the DAY of Christmas. 

it was TK that had bad timing. He called when DS tv was too loud and caused confusion, he had busan trip to worry about, didnt look at the paper in time, and he gave his gift LATE!

technically JH knew DS longer, and it didnt matter they had more "time" because it was the WAY their "time" was spent which made all the difference.

Out of all the kdrama 'heroes' out there, Choi Taek has the sh!ttiest setup in terms of 'timing'. Dude was never around due to his baduk career, and always had to deal with FOMO (fear of missing out). 

Like he couldn't join the school field trip (we all know what happened there), was at the richard simmons baduk club at midnight during first snow (when JH was RIGHT THERE, listening in on SW breaking DS's heart), and couldn't go to the MBC jem concert because of ... you guessed it. ... another baduk match. On the day DS is supposed to go to that Lee Seunghwan concert with her date, he was scheduled to compete in a tournament. 

People discredited him as a legit husband contender because of it-- all those arguments of "but but but he's so busy he doesn't have the time to romance the girl."

Seriously, when the majority of kdrama chaebol heirs do nothing but wave their wallet at the girl all day long, Choi Taek fought so damn hard against the limits of his existence.

The key point is that Taek never, ever wasted an opportunity. If he had a chance, he never hesitated (well, noble idiocy aside). 

This is what sets him apart from JH. While both were suffering from noble idiocy, JH struggled to give DS a freakin' jacket, whereas Taek gave the girl a bridal run. 

According to Team JH's ep.17 translations, JH did acknowledge this. At one point he said something like "but it wasn't just timing, it was hesitation."

omg, I can't even browse through tumblr today. the Junghwanites have taken over the feed. Sooo much anger over the "script change" and "twist" and "husband swap" ...like dsjfhksjdfhks. First we were called delulu for pointing out narrative nuances and deeper connections. So i think because her date cancelled on her, DS wasn't gonna go. Sungmommy entered her room and i think asked her to do something. so she went out in that casual attire with just sandals and socks plus wallet (with the concert tickets inside). but unfortunately she ran into TK, JH and DR in his truck.

DR asked her if the date bailed on her, and she denied it. DR offered her a ride to the concert venue, so she couldn't refuse and faked a smile and got in, but then there's the goat sound effect as they drove away and DS cringed.

this explains why DS arrived in the concert looking like that and Taek noticed it, so he gave her his suit jacket. AWWWW DONGRYONG THANK YOU. #GARLICMVP

Basically DR remind them of the Forrest Gump movie, but DS already watched
with her date and TK with the baduk club people... She tells them she can cancel
her concert to go with them, since they see her as a woman, but they refuse... 

......

DS got cancelled on her concert, so she changes back to her non-winter-
appropriate home clothes. Mum asked her to go to the mart to buy some
groceries. On the way out she runs into the guys, where DR teases her about
being dumped again since she is no longer going to the concert now. TK and JH
both looked very puzzled. She lies and said she is going as she is, and DR offers
to give her a lift. Since there was no reason to refuse she gets on the lorry. *goat
bleats* 

..............

Yoo and his gf are talking about the guy she introduced DS to. She said she didn't
know that guy already had a long term girlfriend. He apparently joined the
soegating after he had a huge fight with his girlfriend. She feels very sorry to DS.
Yoo is worried that she is waiting by herself now. She assured him that the guy
had called to cancel. 
But she said DS went to the concert by herself, because she said she shouldn't
waste the tickets...

TK walks nonchantly out of the gents , greets and walks past them... 

...................

DR recognised the guy that DS met on the soegating at the movies and guesses
that she got dumped again. Near the end of the whole movie ( Forest Gump run time is around 2.5 hrs ) JH is distracted when he realises that DS was lying that morning.
He finally decides to go to meet her at the concert because he was worried she will be alone.

................................

JH was late, Taek reached her first. And he was blaming Fate and timing for always going against him.

DS: Hey, I really wasn't stood up! 

TK: Ok, I know...

DS: He said he was coming, but there was a big incident, and he couldn't make it...

TK ( just drapes his jacket over her shoulders) 

DS: I am not cold

TK: I am too hot, just wear it

DS: I really wasn't stood up ok?

In the jeep later where JH listens to the baduk news :

"The strongest Baduk player Choi Taek had forfeited the first match of a special competition. This is the first ever in his baduk career.
After informing the Baduk center and apologising to the other 9dan player he was supposed to play.
The released statement of the reason to forfeit this round is he had personal reasons and did not provide further details. "

After hearing this news, JH realised that Fate and timing had nothing to do with the end of his first love. 

He narrates: 

But fate, and timing, is not something that just happens.
Its making many different choices with an earnest desire, to create moments that seem like miracles.
The unhesistant forfeit, the decisiveness, created the chance.
That guy was more earnest, and I should have been more courageous. 

The problem did not lie in the traffic lights, it was not timing, its is the many opportunities where I was hesitant...   

 

What a well crafted story... I was happy that Taek made it at last! But this episode sucked all the joy out of me. Poor JH. Well, you did have Ep1-10 to make your move...  

Taekie didn't need words to know that DS was cold, even though she lied that she wasn't and offered her his jacket anyway. This is how Taekie made his way into her heart. 

I am ready for Ep19-20!! Please, lots of sweet happy scenes!!

But you know what else is amazing about that scene?

Taek knew just by looking at her.

He knew there's no way her date pulled through.

Tbh I'm rather disappointed that people overlook Taek's actions in showing his concern and love for DS.

Yes, he may not have the swoon-worthy actions such as the wall scene, bus scene and umbrella scene. These are the kind of scenes we are used to seeing n k-dramas. These scenes translates these actions to determine JH as the husband confidently because they are "hey, that's what most male leads do so they will end up with the girl" kind of scenes. 

Whereas we have Taek who also shows his feelings to DS in a different and fresh manner. People overlook them because they are not seen in k-dramas because firstly, Taek doesn't have the typical male lead personality like other dramas. He appears quiet, anti-social and has a sibling-type of relationship with the female lead. People forget that not every guy is like JH. There are girls who prefer guys like Taek and wants to take care of them (but that doesn't make Taek less of a man to a girl's POV).

Taek's scenes that show that he's a potential candidate:

1. Taek admitted he forgot about the manito issue and apologized to her immediately. He didn't let the misunderstanding go on and promised to buy her one (which he did eventually and DS preferred his present).

2. Taek gave her his trophy (which is a prized possession especially after he had gone through so much effort for it) after he won the competition.

3. When DS said to confess during the first snow, Taek did ask her out for a movie which shows he listened to her words and did exactly what she said. Like what @packmule3 said, when DS said that, Taek's expression wasn't shown so people tend to overlook it.

4. Taek said that she was pretty after she doubted herself before taking the picture at China, DS was obviously happy about it and admitted that she took his clothes to wear (why would she wear his clothes?)

5. Taek sat down beside her after she was traumatized by the flasher. Taek followed and waited for her when she went to the washroom the second time but never said explicitly that he was protecting her to save her pride. This reminds me of the bus scene where JH protected DS from the shaky bus but people only remembered this and not Taek PROTECTING her from the flasher. 

6. When DS was crying on the stairs, he didn't hesitate to go over to her. I thought it was obvious Taek knew she was crying but sometimes you don't have to ASK the reason for crying. Instead, he conversed with her and made her forget her worries for a while. 

7. When Taek knocked her nose with her elbow, he let her rest in his room and removed the grip in her hand to make her calm down. It's very subtle but it's because the way Taek handles angry DS in a different manner.

8. As mentioned by Taek's father, Taek likes to ask people he likes to do things for him (similar to himself). DS was not babying him like what people concluded, Taek didn't even realize this habit of his and found it comfortable to ask DS to do things for him. If you looked carefully, everyone else was babying him on their own accord (e.g. buttoning his shirt, split chopsticks), not him asking others to do it for him so he didn't mean to "act like a baby" in front of others. But DS is the only one he asked to do things for him.

9. Taek admitted coolly about liking DS as a woman. It's not an easy thing to do, especially in front of your friends who also knows the girl. He was true to himself and others, making other friends root for his bravery. 

10. I shall leave this point for the next two episodes. I bet we will get something that make Taek a better contender as the husband.

Some scenes I would like to see if Taek is the husband:

1. How did he know about DS' old crushes? The chocolate issue? Taek has said that there are many things he knows but DS doesn't know about him well enough. They also emphasize that there is no secrets in the neighborhood. If Taek is the husband, I need to know how he knows about DS liking SW/JH.

2. Where did DS go when Taek was rumored to be in an accident? We see DS having a close relationship with Taek but she was nowhere to be seen! NOWHERE. It boggles me because she's always the most dramatic one but her reaction to the accident was 0%!

3. What is written in DS diary? 

4. When did DS and Taek started liking each other? What triggered them to like one another?

5. What happened to them during the concert after Taek ran to her?

Points where I don't understand why people say Taek is a baby/DS is mothering him:

1. Taek was the one who pointed out JH's mum would be very worried when JB needed surgery (which JH brushed it off that she won't be). This shows even though he's not around most of the time, he knows what the adults feel and they are masking their feelings in front of their children.

2. Taek silently accepted the long interview and arranged for a doctor for JH's dad. This is not an act of a BABY, this is an act of a MATURED YOUNG LAD. A baby would brush off the interview and yell at the whoever agreed to the interview.

3. Taek asked DS to give back the wallet to JH, knowing the possibility of her looking at the wallet. Maybe he wanted her to find out JH's feelings in her own way or maybe he didn't want things to become awkward for JH and ask him about JH liking DS. 

4. Taek is the only person who has been in contact with the real world, went overseas for competitions and experienced the taste of the working world. There's no way a BABY can survive such harsh situations. He is a BABY in the group, but becomes a matured young man who represents his country outside of the neighbourhood. 

5. Unlike SW, Taek was able to sense that his father was lonely and needed someone to care for him when he's not around. He was able to understand others' struggles and empathize his father's actions. 

6. Instead of confronting his father about SW's mom, he WAITED for his father to bring up the topic even though he knew what his father was going to say. He respected his father's decision and timing but also hinted that he wished his father could have someone with him when he's out for competitions.

So many things to resolve but only 2 more episodes. And I hope they will get resolved so all shippers can get a peace of mind of why the writer chose the husband. I believe JH and Taek are great contenders of being the husband and the writer shouldn't be condemned for any choices made. That would make the viewers very shallow... for putting down the script just because it doesn't go your way.  

I would love to pinpoint these things in the main thread but people can get very defensive and I wish to avoid trouble. However, if you wanna quote anything from my post, feel free to do so! But I would rather much discuss about the script in the MT than how much I think Taek is the husband.

Hey guys, just thought I`d drop by and list some scenes in Ep 18 that I observed that would catch your interest in this loveline.

Duk Seon, for the first time in Ep 18, is meeting her best friends in a dress in the very last scene (we've got 3 scenes of the best friends hanging out and 2 of the scenes had Duk Seon in pants). Duk Seon wore a dress for her date (she and her sister are so much a like, no wonder Taek said she was Bora's reincarnation) Was she trying to look pretty and girly again in front of one of her best friends? 

In Jung Hwan's car, she was occupied by her pager (was she anticipating a message from someone? She didn't look too happy that at 7:09PM still no new message received). It obviously didn't escape Jung Hwan's attention and reminded her to put her seat belt on.

Duk Seon's head turn and look of anticipation twice when the door chimed in only to be disappointed was very note worthy - even Jung Hwan noted it. Twice.

This episode highlighted Jung Hwan's effort in getting to the concert to see Duk Seon. I have the feeling we might be seeing Taek's POV in rushing to get to Duk Seon next time since his nonchalant reaction (boy is always expressionless) to the discussion on Duk Seon being stood up at the concert to him getting there just at the right time gasping for breath was not seen in this episode.

There were two scenes in today's episode that made me think something happened at the concert. First scene - the sisters both asked each other what time they got home - it must be reaaaalllly late and they were too tired and occupied about something that they just went to bed without noticing each other (Bora had a blind date with Sun Woo - Duk Seon went to the concert with Taek. In my opinion these two scenes were big). The second scene - Going back to my first and second paragraph - Duk Seon was noted wearing a dress after the concert and looking like she's anticipating for something (pager, the door chime, her small smile when Sun Woo said Taek's coming in later).

 

Anyways, I don't know if they're going to be a part of a bigger picture, but I just thought I'd share those because they definitely caught my attention!

Wahhh I really held my breath when the music stopped and JH placed the ring in front of DS and when he smiled when he repeated saying he likes her. That face was like "ahh I finally told her" I feel so proud for him!  And DS's look to him was something like she was grateful and happy that he was finally honest with his feelings. I also think she was happily remembering their moments. When the guys acted so relieve that it was a "joke", I feel like at that moment JH and DS shared a secret, because only the two of them know that its not a joke (well TK too but he wasn't there) I'm a bit sad but happy for JH, he finally took the biggest step he needed to move forward... His first step.

 

But can anyone tell me why DS appa had a nosebleed? Don't tell me he has a serious illness?? My gosh we only have 2 episodes left, no need for hospital death scares x((

 

Also with JH umma, is she pregnant? Or having a menopause??
