- More similarities between BR- TK:

1.    The most obvious one: BR & TK were the first two people that departed JH's house after they picked a name.

2.   Both BR and TK went against the rules/tradition of Christmas in a way. TK completely abandoned the first rule of manito that JB mentioned seconds before and innocently announced who he got. JB immediately got nervous hahaha. 

(and btw, we all know who was the next person to say the exact same thing right after TK blew JB’s cover)

BR too, couldn’t care less about preserving a kid’s belief in Santa’s existence. Poor JJ lol! And i think that both BR and TK did what they did not because they meant to break the tradition, but because these actions align with their character.

3.    There’s only 1 other person that completely forgot about the manito game besides TK: BR. She misunderstood SW’s present as a romantic gesture so she was caught off- guard when SW said it’s for the manito game.

Also, when DS was down because TK also forgot about the present, NL mistook the culprit for BR when it was TK that made DS upset. BR of ALL people... Why?

4.    Speaking of the manito, we’re only shown two pairs of manito partners talk about the present outside on the streets, late at night, on the D-day. One is TK-DS, and the other is BR-SW. notice the camera angle....

5.    I’m sure we have noticed the countless amounts of TK after shower’s scene with the white towel that this drama has bestowed upon us. Guess what, BR also has her own trademark repetitive scenes. In this episode alone, I counted her doing it twice.

Moreover, here’s an eerily similar outfit that they have while caught in their trademark scene: a plain white t-shirt. Look up then look down:

6.    BR and TK “exchanged” colors in ep7. Assuming TK is sometimes green, we can see here that BR is wearing a GREEN towel against her purple sweatshirt. And we know that TK’s other pillow is purple, but here I noticed that the gloves paper wrap for his dad is PURPLE. TK also sported a striped PURPLE shirt this episode when they did the manito game at JH's house.

7.    Two highlighted umbrella scenes happened today. In both occasions, one waited for the other with umbrella for him/ her. In TK’s case, his dad waited outside the club until TK came out. In SW’s case, he waited in the library, checked the time, and went out right before BR’s car arrived.

8.    We know that TK is a picky eater from EP 9 and 10: he doesn’t digest Chinese food well and won’t eat the raw meat. Now, lo and behold, second picky eater of the block frowned at her parent's remark after she refused the oysters. 

- The other things that caught my eye in this episode. these aren’t necessarily TK/ TK-DS related so I’m putting it under spoiler:

1.    There are another set of dolls too in TK’s room (it's TK room, JH is just there) LOL. I have no theory about this so I’ll just leave the screencap here in case anybody wants to taek a stab at it.

2.    I noticed TWO MAJOR FORESHADOWING in this episode. The first one is with JH’s dad. Remember how in EP 10 he was soooo sulky on his birthday? Guess what he said to Sungdaddy and Papabear on Papabear’s birthday this episode?

3.    Now, the next one is actually soooo obvious. But I seriously didn’t realize this until just now. Look at how the parents are positioned here. It’s the two husband and wives on one side of the street, with the future couple on the other end, and the framing went from the 2 married couples to SW’s mom and Papabear singled out in the next second. Slow clap to the R1988 for the umph-teenth time they blew my mind with their attention to detail.

So that's it for now. This first part is just a warm-up. I’ll post the part 2 soon which is about JH-DS-TK. *Note to self: better learn how to edit/ shorten thoughts lol* Btw @lady65432, i would even argue against the genius trait that CB and TK supposedly shared. I know CB isn't a natural genius at baseball. in R1994 they made a point to show that he is not born a talented baseball genius, just extremely hardworking and determined to become better. TK, on the other hand, I think is gifted with that brain. Of course he improved with practice too for Baduk, but i remember countless times that the gang comments on how TK is good at other things (would be better at studying than DS/DR, JB wants his help to solve the rubik's cube, the quiz answer that he got right on EP 0, blue marble game, galaga, etc.) CB on the other hand, is stupid. Like he isn't very academically accomplished compared to the rest of the gang. The similarity is more like that they have a devoted passion for one field, and they made a successful career out of it. 

 

Hello all, lurker emerging from the darkness here  I just rewatched episode 12 and discovered one more TK-BR similarity...

In episode 12, BR volunteers to deliver food to SW's house. SW comments on how BR must be cold because she has no socks on. He then covers her feet with the blanket.

And in episode 14, TK tells his dad he will deliver the fruit to DS's house... and what would you know, he has no socks on either! DS comments on how he must be cold and then covers his feet with the blanket.

If you rewatched again towards the end of ep 2, tru Kim's appa unintentional recording we will see DS running out from JH's room, dragging TK with her, never stopping at/around/infront of JJ like JH, DR & SW to pick up something. If she put it into Taek's item, surely she wud pause to wait for TK to get it but as far as i remember TK never carry anything except the comic book DS ask him to get for her, and after the slapstick with the parents he went directly into JH's room & hand the comics to DS. 

I think basically who DS gave the chocolate to was resolved long ago, but when hubby said he didn't receive we thought something might happen to the chocolate IF SW is the husband, but now since we know for sure SW isn't hubby, mystery solved. Obviously hubby didn't get the chocolate  because she certainly didn't give it to hubby! But why she insists gave it to hubby? To avoid unnecessary confrontation, perhaps? A simple trick after years of marriage..insists its him or pretend to have forgotten

I don't believe that DS's first love is any other than SW either. (as much as I'd love it if it was TK)  She said herself it was her first love, when she started liking SW. I think it can not be anyone else. ABT the hubby; She said it's someone who she never even dreamed of marrying, ---meaning TK  because even if she joked about marrying him, I don't think she ever took  it seriously but I bet Taek did muhahahahha  I just won't change my mind about this ship sailing. Our writer-nim is wwwery smart, and has planned all this all along. I believe. and continue believing so until someone hits my face with a cookie and reply88 ends without TK-DS as endgame.  

@hafunohane omg, I actually was going to reply to your "verdict" about taekstyles earlier, but I forgot while I was working  okie, all the styles look good if you ask me hohoho but I voted for the gel hair because it's reallly smexy and I want to see 1994's Taekie with more confidence, persuading DS, with that hairdo.  But at the same time I do want our cutie patootie Taekie always stay the same smart,sweet,kind,caring kiddo he's been all this time, with the bowl cut. Taekie-ah you're so precious.  With that being said, I really don't mind his hairstyle that much (but I hope to see some other look in 1994) because what really matters to me (and I believe, most of us) is his amazing personality. We want to keep that forever.  With @reyna0804's words:  I don't want him to be bickering with DS. Continue to look at her lovingly and tell her she's pretty even if you've been married for awhile, Taek. Continue to be a soft spoken-calm person to DS. I don't want you to change to someone who calls his own wife ugly, senile.

DS deserves someone who will treat her good.

...and I think they're all from the same scene(s) because the location is exactly the same in these 3 pictures when you look closely where Bogum&Hyeri are in the first pictures. Now I don't know why JH's coat is on the bench in the third one, if it ever even was his?!?!? But I've made my own conclusion, connecting the dots that it's Taek carrying DS in the last picture. And I hope they really look like this up close:

Then right when she received the call from Taek at the first snowing day, she had a new one?

As I remember in the Reply Series, the female lead just change her hair style when she has a new step in love, like Na Jung.

I said so because the moment JH found he has strange feelings with Duk Sun, his hair style has no change and DS the same.

 

Should I input more hope on expected ending of our Taeksun?

Yes. When she fell for SW she tend to put her bangs aside. This is from EP 6.

Then she changed her hair-style EXACTLY that night when she got such a twist with BR/SW thingy, and after that she received a call from Master Choi. This is also from EP 6

And again, when JH started to like her the PD-nim didnt change her hair at all. Why?

Just some trains of thoughts...

With all  parallels and mirrors between Bora and Taek, it's highly probable that, like Bora, Husband (ehm... Taek, he is!) did read DS's diary/journal somehow...

And this brings to mind the "chocolate": Is the one that Husband is talking about the one in the footage after the Future Scene (ep 2)? 

The footage is taken September 1988. This chocolate mystery is simple:  she gives it to Sunwoo, the crush of the moment... else on what occasion would she give "meaningful" chocolate secretly in September 1988? Just random thing to do?  I understand Valentine's Day, but September?

So either Future DS lies and won't tell as does the Husband about not reading her diary/journal.. (more likely)

... or the diary/journal records another person, another "chocolate".... 

After the concert, when DS bumps into that boy from middle school, the conversation seems to allude to a quite colourful middle school life for DS...  yeah, she gloats to fish out JH's reaction to another boy's attention on her, but there might be a little bit of truth to it... 

So, could there be another "chocolate" incident in DS's past?

@hermess-san hahaha to be honest i don't have a conclusion for why there are so many similarities between them. it's just what i happened to notice upon rewatching the 6th and 7th episode. anybody can draw their own conclusions. @reisu yes, someone in this thread had noticed that too hehe good catch. that was i think when i began to see parallels between the two couples. but back then i didn't think that TK would have more similarities with BR than with SW individually. i found this creative decision an interesting one, coz SW and TK practically grew up together and spend so much time with each other and are later hinted to become possible stepbrothers in the future... so why didn't the writer make the two share some commonalities? why BR instead? Anyway, let's move on... maybe i'll figure out something as i watch more episodes hehe. (P.S: a friendly reminder to not quote images guys, thank you!)

in 1997, SW had waited for YJ on his failed confession day and YJ was holding the pager as well, the screen showing SW pagering for him. 

in 1994, as @Betsi Soma said, pager was used a lot in NJ-Trash interaction. some examples from 3 different episodes of DB's recaps :

EP. 7 REWATCH: PART 2/2 

1. In EP 16, DR went to a dance contest and we’re given a scene in which the 3 guys talked about the awesome dancers that went first and second. JH was the only one to correctly remember the names of the first two contestants. They even inserted JYP’s name haha.

Now, back in episode 7, we know that the entire gang minus TK watched the 1988 college music festival at JH’s house. The fact that it’s in his house alone had made me question why he would get the year wrong in the future scene (assuming JH’s the husband). Moreover, the show went an extra length of highlighting his excellent memory. The gang had watched 11 performers at this point, and JH actually remembered the FIRST performance.

Ok, the fact that everybody else didn’t remember but him means that the first contestant wasn’t supposed to be memorable in terms of her performance. To say that JH remembers even her FACE means the person is perhaps pretty for real, (but then DR/NL would’ve commented on it too, no?) or that JH's brain went the extra mile of remembering not just the supposedly forgettable/mediocre song, but also the performer’s face.

2. Let’s compare this with how the show highlighted TK’s selective memory many, many times. He remembered the craziest things, and since episode 0 this trait of his has been made known to us (I posted about this before). He knew the answer to the second question, he remembered how many stitches he got when he was 9, but he forgot things like the manito and watching the movie with the gang after his baduk competition. DR made a comment on his selective memory before in ep 8. And... adult DS also made a remark on his husband’s memory in ep 9:

Ok so the multi-shipper in me would like to stop here and not conclude anything/ assume anything and declare that i should wait for the 1989 concert scene (if we’re gonna be given any) to gauge the validity of this “concert memory” hint. It could be a red herring, like maybe JH’s awesome memory deteriorates over the years as he gets older (again, assuming JH is the husband. Am I in the wrong thread? Don’t kick me out of the blanket guys.). But yea, I’m sure you guys can connect the dots to conclude this theory in favor of TK too (since the husband did remember the concert year wrong)☺

3. This one’s kinda farfetched. But when the presenter interviewed that year’s last contestant, she made a remark about him being the LAST one and asked about what he was thinking while he waited. His reply:

Guess who also just wanted to go home soon to his dad that day? Granted, TK actually did not win.

But in latter episodes, if I really wanna make a connection here, we know that TK also wants to go soon to be with someone he loves after he won his baduk competitions, just like this winner. Isn’t that why TK finished his match early in ep12, to join DS and everyone else? Isn’t that why he stayed for JH’s birthday even though he has a competition? And isn’t that why he wanted to finish the competitions fast both in EP 9 and in EP 16, to spend time with DS? Also, this could be related to the underdog quality that the drama often associates TK with (he had to win against 5 people in ep 6 and majority thought he would lose), but it could also be mere coincidence: the gang had announced their guess for the winner two times before this last contestant performed. Some changed their pick, some stayed loyal to their first choice. BR remained quiet.

But then as soon as the music start, they all changed their votes (except for BR who had no opinion, but did let out a smirk when the last contestant sang). And look who changed her pick first (together with NL actually), insisted on it and shouted it out loud:

And, speaking of the word last “LAST,” let’s go to EP 8 and recall the movie title that TK and DS watched together.  

4. In episode 15, we know that TK consulted SW about his confession plan to DS.

This is actually kinda similar to what he did with DS in episode 7 for his dad’s gift. Both times, he voiced his doubt over what the other party’s gonna think about his action.

His “doubtful when it comes to the unknown waters” trait was also mentioned in episode 6, when TK’s dad said that TK dislikes rookies most because having never played with them before, he doesn’t know their playing style/ technique yet. I’m not saying that this means TK also backed off because he’s afraid DS is going to reject him, but I think his knowledge of JH’s feelings towards DS + seeing their photo together may allow him to connect the dots to mean that there is a possibility that DS also likes JH. I think that’s why he asked DS to give the wallet back too, but I don’t know. Hmmm.

Sidenote- the colors of DS + TK’s telephones in this scene:

5. I wanna talk about DS’ voiceover. I think there’s a second meaning to this line: “we don’t wanna get caught” during the part where she tried on the gloves from JH.

Because here’s TK’s exchange with DS the night before:

So the way i see it, DS tried to hide the excitement about the manito game in front of Taek too. I think she is influenced by what NL said about his lost match, because she wanted to "kill Choi Taek" before, but NL told her not to bother him. 

But TK could see through her. From TK’s facial expression and his immediate response i know TK could tell DS wasn’t telling the truth, which is why he insisted that she spelled out her wish.

And DS’ feelings remain kinda unknown to me by the end of this episode because as excited as she was when trying the gloves from JH, she ended up wearing TK’s anyway in ep 8. we know there are tons of possible reasons why she chose TK’s mittens, but let’s not forget how DS spent the entire episode 7 hoping that her secret santa is TK, guessing it, and happily expecting the manito present from TK. 

She even relayed this to her dad, that she's getting gloves from TK. Mom asked DS, "what gloves?" and this is what she said:

Which leads me to my last list (I’m slightly frightened by my own thoughts so I’ll put them under the spoiler):

The entire episode we see how almost-impromptu the gloves idea came to DS, she saw it on TV with LMY and decided that she wants gloves later that day when TK called. JH was there when she watched the TV, and later in the bus he stared at DS' hands, so we know he's going to give her those gloves. So is the glove really that important to DS? Coz we know she didn't complain to NL about not getting the gloves. she's more upset about not having anyone as her secret santa. But maybe that's why she ended up wearing TK's mittens as well, coz she didn't even bother describing to mom about the gloves and was more excited that she'll be getting something for the manito instead. 

I don't, however, have any explanation for her change of expression when she found out that JH gave her the gloves, not TK. or what went through her head when she tried on those gloves. Anyway, back to my original point. What I noticed is that JH is somehow set up to be the second pick/last resort for DS in multiple occasions  (this is, so far, based on episode 7 alone). It may or may not be related to the husband hunt at all, but I think it's interesting to share it with you guys here. 

1. She told JH that between him and TK for the manito game, she’d like it if it’s TK. In fact, she threw out the idea first to JH to test if it's JH or TK. 

2. She said this to JH again after they went to McDonald’s:

3. And this is what she said when TK confirmed that he is her secret santa:

3. When her friends pushed her to ask one of the guys to come, even DR’s name came up first for DS, before JH.

4. And lastly, it’s strictly her friends that want JH to come. MO sorta guilt- tripped DS into calling JH too (I just noticed this bit now).

We know that DS’ girlfriends influenced her a lot. They “misled” DS into thinking that SW likes her by convincing her that they can’t be wrong about this. They did this again with JH, only this time maybe they’re right (we still don’t know yet). And then they convinced her to ask JH about the blind date. Moreover, MO even helped her pick that pink shirt, which I know someone has mentioned before is like one of the many “tests” for JH.

But this is why I need episode 17 to JUST. AIR. ALREADY because depending on DS’ actions to TK (homegirl really holds the key here), I may or may not have to start believing the theory that DS only starts liking JH after her friends told her… I had previously REFUSE to believe in this, but after episode 7, I hate to say it.. and it doesn't change the ending anyway, but there may be a chance that DS really only noticed her feelings for JH as a crush after her friends brought up to her that they're really sure this time that JH likes DS. she was pissed with them in the beginning of episode 8, but then she started warming up to the idea...

Anyway, I’ll stop here. Now I need to go watch episode 8.  Sorry for the word vomit guys. I am truly terrible at condensing my thoughts (more like, I’m not even trying to. LOL.)
