I think Taek is competitive. Very very. He doesn't show his glee or happiness when he wins but he sure hates to lose. Why do you think he plays baduk with almost every breath of time he has? Even Christmas holiday. The more games you play, the better moves you can make after analysing the games... There is a reason he made 6 Dan in less than 10 years of play... Assuming he went pro after middle school ( which I dunno is what age in Korea)... 

When he made that mistake in the earlier ep 4? and lost, he wasn't as sore at the loss but at himself for making the error. That's why his friends knew they had to needle him and 'lance the boil' so to speak... By telling him he shouldn't have lost, they made him defend himself and excuse his own mistake... 

Like many other fellow shippers have pointed out, he didn't even want to lose at a blue marble game.

But of cos when it comes to romantic love vs familial love, things are not so clear cut as a simple win and lose situation. Taek calculated the endgame and ultimately decided to not confess for now...  Even though it hurt him so badly... 

That was the way the ep15 hinted at his competitive spirit and ep16 DR vocalised it.

All the games he set his goal for DS he won:

The movie date in ep6 ( 1 vs 5 game in China)

Ep8 the group movie: he won so he can go watch with all of them...

The ep9 China trip so he had a day extra to spend with her 

The pork cutlet dinner in ep12: even DR was impressed lol 

The confession ep16: The narration even emphasised that it was a come from behind win

Part 2 of my reactions lol

We've already seen DR, SW and JH shirtless both front and back. Can we see TK's now? not just the back?? :)))

LOL DS shouldn't have the right to over react when the boys want to watch porn, she was hoping to have some "raunchy passages" as translated in what I'm watching when she was about to read another romantic novel and I really like how respectful BR was when DS was crying over the phone. She might be just as upset too but she didn't let that emotion fuel her raging attitude. I bet she cried too but for her dongseangs she stayed strong just like in everything she does. This is one of my favorite scenes of BR, they show that she's still a caring unnie even tho she fights with her siblings.

SW's glare is hot :)) hahahahaha I want GKP and PBG to have a stare off (omg they might end up kissing, lol what is wrong with my mind) I also want to see the glares of the others, I should watch their other movies/dramas after this hehe

I wonder what the 2 henchmen of the bully think about him getting all worked up with SW's necklace, what is wrong with him =____= I bet if JH hadn't punched him, SW would've already done it. I really think the 4 guys have a lot in common even tho their personalities are different. Like how SW is the normal one in the group and he's well liked but everyone but then he also watches porn and drinks even tho he's underage (ish) and then there's TK who's also well liked but then he smokes and watches porn, he can drink too and is actually more than he seems. JH and TK are both very caring to the ones they love that they can sacrifice their feelings for the sake of the other and both are observant to their surroundings. DR seems to be the one that comes up with all the risky ideas but his friends are never forced to accompany him so in a way, they also want to do it and he helps them gain the courage to do so (though I'm not sure if that's good since they tend to get in trouble with his ideas) he is also very wise for someone who likes to goof off a lot. Ah~ I love these guys. DS is lucky to have them as friends and lover lol. Who wouldn't fall in love with such a sweet guy like SW, the queit but caring JH, the funny and wise DR and the precious yet strong TK. OMG I'm sorry for suddenly getting somewhat emotional towards these guys.

And in other fact, whenever Taek lost in game, only need to see DS, he can smile immediately, such as:

In the manitto episode, on the way going home, Taek met DS and smiled when seeing her ccame closely. We didn't know he lost that match, including DS, only when No Eul told DS that he lost 0.5 point and can not remember DS's gift. We can see that Taek still smiled, and then found out that he was DS's manitto, he ran out and talked to her but in happy mood because DS was still there. ( He just worried because he forgot it but didn't use losing as an excuse although it is more acceptable. )

In vice versa, DS also agreed for his forgetting and smiled although she expected the gift a lot but nothing important if Taek was not happy at that moment.

In the episode that Taek leaned on DS's shoulder, he also lost the match after more than 10 hours playing and via NoEul ( again) we knew Taek will be very uncomfortable with that result. But when he met DS, she asked him to smile then he smiled, she asked him to head up and he did and she just need to say " you worked hard!" the he could smile during sleeping.

(Vice versa, although it was late and cold weather and DS was running back home to avoid the cold but DS still stopped to talk with Taek, still stayed when he was leaning on, and didn't say that " it's late, we should go home" but saying that " you worked hard" sounds like " you can lean as long as you feels comfortable with it.."

And the second leaning between DS and Taek showed that they really care each other and put the hapiness of the partner in front of their sadness and stresses.

BTW, during the beach scene, when Taek drank coffee then dropped out, but he still stay to let DS dry it on his mouth, his sweater and almost have no action until she finished. But when DR ask him to fasten the buttons when prepared to China trip, he wanted to make it by himself. It's totally different.

And, for the Cupid team, I think we can point out Mr Choi ( who always ask DS take care Taek with a sad face), No Eul ( who can gives the excuse on time), Dong Ryong ( who gave wise advise that DS should love back) and SW (who knows a the plan of Taek's confession and aways support him to confess). And the leader of the Cupid team is Sung parents because they clearly stated that Taek is their son in law.

And happily annouce that Monday boring working time is ended and 4 day left to watch new episode. Bravo...

Can we hope/dream for a time jump scene where Taekie comes out of the shower again but you know, in a towel? LOL *sorry to our younger shippers in this thread, pls avert your eyes* 

Ep6 was too soon to casually reveal the hottest Baduk player there ever was hahahahah He was not meant to look sexy yet right, but more child-like and endearing...

Waahh I love love all the posts and y'all being positive thinking and just enjoy and embrace every moments of R88.  I like the idea of the cupid team. I think most of em' know about TK liking DS like the boys, mr Choi, DS' parent. I dont know about Noeul. If TK the one in the diary Bora too should know. Too bad only clueless DS didnt know it. 

No eul seems to know alot about Taek and being super respect and careful to Taek. He is such an obidient person. When DS dress up beautifully to Junghwan birthday he seem to dislike it. He said she look worst /ugly when she dressed up and he said he is being honest. I dont know if there is a deep meaning to that.

PART 3!! hahaha

waaah PBG's acting is really something else, from the moment he meet's DS appa, all of his movements are just simply outstanding. The way he jolted a little when DS appa calls out to him to suddenly coming to his senses that he should pour soju even tho he was so tired he could pass out. Something I also want to point out is as TK, he is really kind and mature. Even though he was dead tired from his match he agreed to accompany mr. Sung and even poured him a drink. The sad face too ughhhh it gets me every time! </3 I think that part where mr. Sung asks TK when does he miss his mother most is to show that no matter how mature TK may seem, he is still a child and for mr. Sung to realize it at that moment is just so heart breaking for both of them because it seems like TK had just realized that fact too. He could've unconsciously known about it but he has never acknowledged it until he was asked. well that's how I see it. huhuhu this show. Also wow, didn't notice that DS appa offered TK a shot before their scene ended. Its really nice to see that he doesn't treat TK like a boy who knows nothing but baduk only.

TK and the gang are really adorable. I feel bad for him tho, I could just imagine how tired he was. If that was me, I would've been very cranky :))) also, I would watch a reply 1977 or something if it was them as young kids doing whatever in the neighborhood of Ssamunddong haha

Oh oh! I think BR had no idea who is the guy that DS likes, I think DS just expressed her admiration towards the guy without writing his name because isn't it weird that her giving the guy a chocolate was mentioned but she is not sure who she gave it too (and just kinda made herself believe she gave it to her hubby lol) but it was caught on tape that she did put the chocolates in SW's bag. That action proves she liked SW even before she thought he felt the same. But because of mixed signals, her friends thought he did like her which made her really happy 'cause her crush likes her too. So DS' first love was indeed SW but it unfortunately ended bitterly as we all know. Though I'm glad things worked out well for them  I don't think it was TK because she was grabbing him by the hand to go outside without even telling him something like "don't forget to bring your bag"

wow I had a lot to react about episode 2 I guess this really is the most important episode that prepares us for the series xD off to episode 3~

a lot of these I'm sure you guys have already known, I just felt like sharing

@allegramente Great post, @mustardmaimai too.I think tk's skill in great in the blue marble game or the arcade game is simple,because he Is that much analytical and observant in his game,he uses that same tactic in case of any other sector of his life,for example, while engaged in idle games with friends,he takes it seriously and uses his brain as anything else.I can relate to this lol,I've friends who categorize movies in excel files according to ratings,view count,remarks blah blah hahah.So when you're a sorted out person,you would do all aspect of your life according to how you work,I think it goes for anything.So if I'm a messy person,I make a mess out of everything that goes from my works to my personal life.Last one works for me lol.

If there's any deep meaning to that then I guess its the fact (maybe) that JH thinks DS doesn't need to dress up 'cause she's already cute/pretty ooooor~ he doesn't want to see her dressed up because the other guys are there too (especially TK) but I don't really know for sure :)) just a speculation I have in mind

 There was another scene between DS and No Eul that make me wonder if there is a hidden meaning or foreshadowing.. 

It was the scene  before DS saw JB wore the pink shirt.. she was getting ready and happy because TK going to buy them pizza.  Then NE asked why she was so happy and she answered that TK gonna buy pizza. NE said something like, waah.. TK is a saint..  but Dooly (DS) is such a jerk..  DS was mad after that..  I wonder why NE came out with that remarks... He could stop after praising TK but he continued by insulting DS.. as if saying that you're not his match..interesting that DS got angry after that... 

What is your take on this?

Oh Oh! I read @hermess-san's post wrong sorry xD but yeah DS tends to over do things when she dress up hehe after seeing JH's name I thought it was him reacting to DS so yeah sorry again xP now idk if there's any deep meaning but if its just how siblings see each other then I guess I can relate. I never actually saw my sister as a pretty person even though a lot says she is so maybe its like that?

To No Eul, Taek is a saint, and DS is non-compared person to any other, like in the scene when they watch an actress with short hair he said " Why can it so different with the same short hair like this?"

Can't imagine how suprise, painful or unbelievable when No Eul found the truth his Saint loves a thief...haha...

Ah, Teak is the one who said DS is beautiful directly, and her clothes are beautiful too, in opposite with what No Eul said.

Part 4 reactions, episode 3 start!!

Wait, I'm confused. the episode starts with DS and the girls then the 3 guys arrived at the resto and SW asked if DS doesn't have picket girl practice. But in the previous episode it was already stated that the Olympics have ended. Does this mean DS liked SW only because she thought he likes her?? because if this scene actually happens before the chocolate thing then what I said a while ago is wrong hahaha but then this could be her practicing for the closing of the event??

I think its funny that DS is bad at dancing when Hyeri is an idol irl :))

JH's parents really have a soft spot for JB, even tho mrs. Kim wanted to curse so much about how much time he's wasting from not studying she just kept it in and let him do what he wants. And again, the boys are so adorable :)) wish I grew up with guy friends too. I wish even more to have good looking guy friends haha. mr. Kim reminds me of my dad, he wears clothes that have holes and worn out even tho he has better shirts waiting to be worn.

NL saving up money for his gf made me want to meet them again, I wonder if its them that ends up together. I also noticed that BR changed her glasses 3 times throughout the series, the 2nd one is the gift she received for her bday and the 3rd one is around the time she started dating SW. Also, I really really really~ like the close relationship of the neighborhood. Everyone is so willing to help each other in every way that they can.

What if aside from wanting to go to the field trip with his friends, TK was thinking about buying the walkman for DS? DR did mention that she should ask him to buy it. Even tho he was on the other side of the room, there could've been a possibility that he heard it right? but hahaha I don't think its likely. I just thought it was fun to think about. But I wonder how it would be like to have TK around with the guys at highschool?

- It's started with DS-TK talking, and then NL come in while greeting TK.

- Then DS take care of NL by swiping banana out of his mouth (like how she take care of his injured foot on future scene).

- Then the talk of NL's face being old happen, and just in time he said his face will go younger when he's older (fits with the future husband remark on how future NL looks more his age).

Im so confuse with all the hints, as much i trying to figure it out, im stuck where 2 possibility husband got 50:50 hahahaha..

I assume JH strong at early episode 3 till 12 or 14 ep (i forget which ep, his strong position finish until jh brother wore pink shirt) 

taeki slowly appear as strong lead one by one ep, till he give us cliffhanger at the end ep 16 which make me thinking, is he the only one or the most treasure on reply 1988?

watching repeat again and again, make me realize they put taeki only one scene at the end ep 16, and make me forget how strong JH before.

I also thinking no eul song have strong meaning behind that, when the part of reff "can we fall in love again?" Its obviously lean on toward ds and taeki relationship.

i know reply series always do cliffhanger few ep before the end. Thats why we dont see DS expression/ interest toward 2 man lead. They make it blur. I saw najung and chilbong scene few ep before the end,they did the same things. 

Im on taeki side, its not because im sure he is the one, but as viewer korean drama lover, last four ep, is enough to make DS realize  who is the one she love.long way before they start pointing clue. Because early ep i realize taeki was the one who love her first.!but never had chance or realize his feeling, maybe he assume is enough for him as long ds stay by his side from time to time.

i see jh as strong man lead, but at some point,i feel there is something missing about him. He is coward.

one things for us to know, when taeki ask ds to deliver jh wallet. If ds open his wallet (because that scene we only heard her voice not the scene) JH will be the husband, if not, taeki might have a chance.

But ds did not show any reaction number one when she went to return the wallet or no 2.when she met the guys next day at the library.And she was going for study,I don't think she could study at that time if she was certain this guy definitely likes her....though that could vary person to person.About episode 16,I think no eul's song is a strong link.While we knew jh has been doing the noble idiocy till now,but tk's sacrifice has been highlighted in a grand way,either that's something assuring,or something to be nervous about.
