Actually between when she crushed on SW and JH I see no difference. Some may insist that there is and I understand it because they see Deok Sun as how they want to see. It can be same for us too we hope that Deok Sun loves Taek unconsciously but if not  it still fits my description of Deok Sun above. Even for DR being husband it's not surprising actually it's just far fetched. Still if we look at the story Taek has more chance because we can't compare her reaction to him with others since they insisted on not to show it...isn't it fishy doesn't it smell trolling? 

 

Exactly.I think the writer is really clever/creative in the sense that,it has been told from day one that this season would be based on family...and we exactly get that.Episode 16 is gone and main lead has not kissed yet lol...isn"t this screaming the very fact that love [the so called love is not the theme of the season?]...I have not realized myself until some very perceptive people here have brought out the fact how the daily mundane activities are the concept of this drama.So we don't get romance,instead the overall theme is placed all over the episodes.So even if dates/concert/movie nights happen...they are given the minimal time..while hug by the alley,or crying beside friend/or taking life lesson 101 from girlfriend get more focus this time.Maybe because the time is the eighties. ..the writer decided to go 'slow'...and maybe this was how people used to  love each other.So I think sunwoo-bora or taek's dad-sun woo mom's story was a way of showing us how love is going to be explored this season ..instead of anything sort of steamy..

Well we started with basically zero chance right ...so we already know the worst case scenario...And keeping the expectation low till now lol..In my mind the worst condition would be if they really go the real life baduk player way.Hope that does not happen.

So I'm trying to compile a list of scenes that are missing/ yet to take place/ happens off- screen/ at least not yet revealed in full so we can have some ideas of what flashbacks we may be given in the next 4 episodes if ShinTroll PD choose to give us any:

1. TK's childhood accident involving DS when they were 9 years old.
2. DS' chocolate being received by SW (this chocolate may or may not ended up elsewhere).
3. DS' secret santa gift for JH.
4. Movie date between JH-DS after JH asked her in front of his house (DS' girlfriends were eavesdropping this). As of now, we still don't know if this ever happened or not.
5. 1989 College Music Festival that adult DS and her husband went together to.
6. DS' response after TK told her he likes someone and will confess in episode 14's cliffhanger.
7. JH's secret santa gift for TK.

Hmm.. think i may be missing a few points here... but those are the ones i could think of on top of my head. if anybody wants to add, please do!  on a side note, speaking of the manitto game.. let me share @saturn.'s old post from the main thread: 

"The manito game (secret santa) the person who picked it gets to see the heart of the person on the memo. Deoksun learned Junghwan's feeling (That he likes her) and Junghwan heard how Taek feels, and soon Taek will see how Deoksun's heart is." 

Hmm. interesting, because what happened later, as we all know, is that TK found out about JH's heart, not DS'. Since we still have EP 17-20, could it be that TK will also be the one to figure out/ discover DS' feelings then, instead of JH? Regardless, I'm looking forward to this revelation as well since it's kind of like the last leg of the cycle. Truth be told, just like almost everybody else, I'm also starting to feel worried about the pacing of the drama and how the series is going to tie up all the loose ends, give us the time skip, and end its run with proper resolutions for all the characters..

And to add to your opinion @nearsea, the worst case scenario for me would be if they kill off TK literally (which I will never forgive the writer for although I doubt that he will go that route) or figuratively, like killing his character's awesomesauce in some way somehow (for instance: suddenly making him the typical kdrama nice guy/ pushy clingy love competitor or whatever/ kill his baduk career/ make him sick forever etc). that, and/or if they pair TK up with his own future stepsister Jinjoo/ someone who is reminiscent of DS.  #hugeNO 

edited to add: @allegramente to be honest with you, that is one of the biggest hints favoring JH as the future hubby. but there's always the possibility that SW told the future hubby/ the hubby read it before as one of the entries in her diary. if the future hubby is TK, maybe since SW and him often have sleepovers/ in the future they become stepbrothers, SW feels the need to share this piece of info? hahaha idk i'm not trying to plant false hopes just thinking of possibilities. in my mind whenever i think about that clue i immediately think of JH's eavesdropping SW and DS behind his gate, sorry.

This might have come up before, but it just occurred to me... if the husband is Taek, how would he know that DS's memory of first snow might have been Sunwoo's rejection?

.... the sage  of ssangmun-dong... Our own Dong-Ryong... with hearing superpower... would have probably heard the commotion (she was screaming) and whispered into certain ears... would he?

I don't know why... hahaha.. Ask DS lol

5. 1989 College Music Festival that adult DS and her husband went together to.  According to my subs, husband said "Didn't we go with the rest? ( I assume the gang) - Its just that he gotten the year wrong - this scene was also the one where DS said " I watched it at home on TV, instead of we watched it at home - Everyone was at JH's house to watch 1988's Dec24 Campus finals because Taekie had to go to Busan for a match... But since Korean language tends to drop the noun...but if it was JH she would have known he didn't 'bring anyone' right... BUT pls remember adult DS memory is not that great either hahahaha she already told us up front she inhaled way too much carbon monoxide from before...lol  
6. DS' response after TK told her he likes someone and will confess in episode 14's cliffhanger.. Yes she looked pretty stunned and got all quiet... Like I told my friend before her reaction is quite different from how she treat No Eul's gf...when she asked alot of questions. DS has always been very protective of Taek, not wanting him to be conned...for her to react quietly to this news without an outburst of curiosity or big reaction is rather telling... 
7. JH's secret santa gift for TK. 

I hope this helps heehee... I forgot to add that the reason DS maybe pretending to have forgotten about who she gave the chocolate to, is becos if Sunwoo is now her brother-in-law, it would have be a very very embarassing situaion right hahahaha

I wondered about this myself... The biggest question regarding how the hubby knew about her SW crush is quite the clincher in this case, because we have only seen that JH holding proof of her confession to the deejay. 

However, if Taek had been perceptive and ( we know he is) he would have already known that she is having a crush on SW. And if he also knows that Sunwoo is crushing on Bora noona ( for 2 whole years - plenty of chances for a quiet boy to notice things ), maybe thats why he picked that very night to call her out for a movie.

He wasted no time, and once he knew that Sunwoo was out of the running. While JH was all relieved that his rival had disappeared, relaxed and eating his ramyun, our boy started his game hahahaha

Now chances of this being taek also seems slim =/. Err and to add to your fear ...what @Meliere said comes to mind...to serve the classic kdrama second lead service,here he comes as beneficial to the lead pair at his best..So I Dread that taek would come to know about what has been going on with deok sun-JH and be the best friend as he can and clears up the miscommunication factor...=|.But if that's the case then there would be  no point of the last 8-10 episodes,right? Also what comes in mind is that maybe the whole point of showing how the two boy functions is because,,while one's route was right,another's was wrong? -ep 8: deok sun's friends telling her about JH,nothing else happens except JH staying beside DS,while she's sleeping happily with gaped face.

-ep 9: JH following DS when she's returning home late at night from the library,later telling her,sleep well or something,her puzzled face

appears again.He secretly smiling at her from inside his den.

-ep 9: Deok sun asks out everyone for the starry night concert.No one else is free,jh casually agrees.They take photo together.[So till now Deok sun not interested in JH]

- ep 10 : deok sun asking jh if she should go on bind date [so this happened at ep 10..not 11 hmm]..

- ep 10 : deok sun conscious of JH liking her..*** ep 10 is also when taek is confessing in front of all the friends that he likes DS.

- ep 11 : DS sad from JH refusing to go to the concert..The scene allso happens when deok sun is sleepily telling JH to go to the concert with her.

ep 12: deok sun waking up early to catch jh on the way to school.The bus scene when she's sleeping on his shoulder.Later that scene when JH is tugging in TK's bed.

-ep 13 : Concert night..we only get the scene at the toilet,JH's little act with the boys.DS's feigning to have strained her foot.

-ep 14 : JH's birthday,deok sun giving him the pink shirt..Deok sun miffed with him later on because of jung bong.

ep 15: Nothing much happens except the bus scene..JH giving support to DS again.The episode when taek is helping out with JH's father's doctor issue at the hospital.

ep 16 : The confession episode,the purse returning scene.Taek knows,then JH gets that taek knows[?]

 

Taek :

- the hug scene with DS happens on episode 6,

- ep 9: taek's taking photo too with DS.This is the episode when ds takes care of tk of which everyone had doubts upon.[major tk childhood flushback..with sun woo's mom's part in the whole moving aspect]

**ep 10 : but rest of the episode has deok sun having those moments with taek-the sunset point.

well there is bored people like me spend free time while waiting every week for new ep coming up with new theories bizarre, eyebrow raising,unbelievable stupid or not even it make no sense whatsoever like when i say she might be in love with taek all the time without realizing it so she treat him special more than anyone else, or maybe he could be her first love but since she have the believe he only love baduk so give up and many more stupid thought what DS think or feel even if might not even close to the truth and many more to gain some hope even if DS don't do or say anything that resemble those thought..it not really for taken seriously and just for killing time or just for fun guessing until the show answer everything..

well tbh i haven't replay the older ep and don't really remember all that DS or others have say or did like the case she say SW is his first love i actually forgot about that until someone mention since SW-DS arc maybe don't interest me much since it start and end pretty fast and i don't took it seriously since for me it just a crush but yeah like some others say it might just look a crush to others but people should took her word seriously as it is that SW is her first love it just a teenage thing..

yeah even i don't understand her but maybe cos im pretty slow in understanding people might just see her as simple as shown in tv but my curious brain think her action might mean more but im usually wrong anyway

she might just be mrs obvious what she say or did just stay as it is no need to have any flashback since she might already say everything and just living her life in present...her attention for junghwan might be because she really have feeling or because her friend give her hope someone like her after get disappointed with SW and her kindness to Taek might just as it is a kindness and no other intention but a girl can still hope deep down her heart say it love and her eyes beaming happiness everytime around Taek could mean something special, she hide her burping from him might mean she start being conscious of him as a man, she acting like his wife/gf(just my bias eyes pov) checking if he watching porn video, reminding him of movie date, say to him they can go to another movie easily making promise to spent time with each other without other friend around, her indifferent voice talking or react to jh is it just a cold shoulder or she already over her jh phase and so on..

i doubt the writer gonna kill taek or anyone...the husband could saw or read her old diary and found of the chocolate story or like someone say DR might heard the commotion that night and told taek about sw-ds if he ever know lol but tbh i think DR is clueless about BR&SW and still didn't know about their dating or he just act dumb..maybe the pd troll would help us and be generous for once telling us what did happen to that mysterious chocolate is it in Jinjoo stomach?..tbh i never know if sw even realize that ds ever like him in 1st place, more like he confused why she get angry at him for no reason since he already madly in love with bora he just don't see other girl signal..i think Taek have an idea that ds might like sw since he look kinda jealous together with jh when she help him with the crutches..

well even if the writer respect the baduk player Taek based on but i think it pretty lame if they copy the player story and make Taek end up exactly like that man like who he marry....i think Taek already have story of his own

which brings to mind, one of the things I love about this instalment... no key points, like JH  or Taek liking DS, are exposed via drunken talks. I just hope that DS's feeling, for whomever it is, would also be revealed in a way that did not include drunken talks (a la 1994. I hated that...). The show is capable of dramatic showing like it did at the end of episode 15, packed with meaning and undercurrents... please give us more...

@st4rdust Our perceptive boy might have done so. I suspected that he noted DS's preference of confessing at first snow, and made that call... 

I think1989's first snow will be interesting too...

I did tot of this too cos DR is also quite close to Taek, know his schedule n once packed his suitcase for him (the ep he rebutton Taek shirt). But then there will b a flaw cos DR would then have overheard BR name n SW crush on BR. cos few eps later, JH teased SW abt liking aggressive gals like BR, JH n SW n DR in Taek rm, DR acted confused abt JH comment.

Rewatched the ep16 phone call scene countless times, Taek voice was almost breaking with emotions. Ah.....   actually i  had a crazy tot but probably wouldn't hold. Wat if DS called instead? Know tat the 1st short scene was taek being all determined n pickup phone, scene cut to DS hse n ringing. The flashback scene, why there is only Taek side initially? No scene of him dialing. If so it would explain the shot of side table with rm key. Somehow Taek told her or she call hotel reception. 

T: hello? (Silence) Is it DSie? (Silence) Yes, it is me. Taekie. DS ah....

After above then we hear both sides. Wat if tis happens.

Ring ring. T: hello? (DS: hello?) Is it DSie? (DS: Taek?) Yes, it is me.

i am thinking that they will probably start the episode 17 with a time jump. what did they become a few years after. 

probably we will not see taek for the first hour. and leading the audience to think that he died or something. then at the end of episode 17 we will see him.

I know!! The hubby saying that they ALL went to watch the concert together in 1989 signals that between Apr 89 - Dec 89 that 8 months will be crucial.. There will probably be alot of angst, alot of sweet moments...But by the first snow of Dec, all things should be right with the world hahahah we can hope... 

I just had a crazy thought : Hows this for the ultimate conspiracy theory : 
What if all the future scenes ARE the TROLLing scenes same as the previews have been?? Since when have the previews been really what the actual scenes were right?

Ds already warned us her memories cannot be trusted. Can we really trust what she said? The fact that DS said she must have been momentary insanity to accept her hubby.
From the looks of how the story would progress from this point forward, I think DS will be the proactive one who goes to pursue him, because of who she likes, not because she thinks the guy already likes her.
But for that generation no female wants to admit she went after her hubby, so she did the face-saving thing and said he chased her and she accepted becos she was crazy hahaha Plausible right?
Usually a woman will not go on a interview that alot of people are going to see to admit you were so brazen back in those days hehehe 

She can't say who she gave the chocolate to, becuase if Bora married Sunwoo ( I have no doubt about that ) and Sunwoo is Taek's brother now. So we can only assume hubby know about the crush, but don't know about the chocolate. 

But things that are not being said : Like how the hubby drinks coffee in his left hand, still a hot blooded guy who goes bare footed around the house in winter ( DS and No Eul both had their socks on and Sunwoo always commented that his body is like a stove hahahah ) and goes to smoke... Hubby says he couldn't speak banmal to No Eul for 10 years... ( we can trust hubby's words over DS, but the concert he remembered wrongly hahah) 

Even the way he gets mad at her is so gentle.. his Ýaaaah is so....hahahah  ( reminds me of how Taek told DS to Hajima when she was teasing him with snacks back at the beach )...

@salz. You're right but believe me I nearly memorized various expressions of Deok Sun and Taek by now so I can tell similarities and differences. That's why I'm sure PD-nim trolling us with Deok Sun's reactions. As I watch fmv's for both pairing you know what I see? As if Deok Sun has a twin sister Soo Yeon lol. With Junghwan they seem to be in love-hate relationship. With Taek they seem to be in friends to lovers relationship. That's says a lot about shippers preference too. We were talking about progress of pairs right? Actually Deok Sun and Junghwan experienced this proper kdrama steps hate-love-noble idiocy-angst no confirmation? Whereas for Taek and Deok Sun they shared all those moments as their relationship moves slowly friends-more than friends-love(for Taek) no angst? I expected that to be happen after Taek's 'You know nothing about me' line. I'm also with you I think Deok Sun shines more with Taek. I'm loving  her character more when she is with Taek same goes for Taek. But maybe this isn't writers preference for the main couple. Then again I'm still thankful they crafted Taek's character beautifully out of love lines and they allowed us to see that possibility of soulmates. If they do not end up together it won't erase anything but it will  look like they were doomed soulmates maybe in the next life they can find each other ^^  I'm giving a reason as for why they made their interactions  this carefully, see Chingu isn't this the biggest picture involving writer and pd's mind? SunTaek full of possibilities but it may not happen no need to be sad about it. If this was a mistake I'm willing to do same mistake again lol.We were sure Junghwan is husband but we still  boarded to this submarine.

The thing is most of the future clues pertains to TK. The smoking, left hand, not wearing thick clothes or socks during winter. Even the scene where TK went to DS's house and NL was eating banana between them is similar to the future scene when NL visited his sister. 

If JH is the husband,similar scenes like that should be shown right? Unless the writer is going to twist things. I'm trying not too put too much hope but deep down everything points to TK..*sigh* I dunno anymore..truly.

Edit: PBG loves to lipbite. I'm not talking about R88 alone. I browsed through YT for clips of him and there is at least one or 2 lip bites in his MVs.

Ep 16 title is  "Life is ironic - 1" , so Ep 17 title is  "Life is ironic - 2"

I don't think that a time jump will start at ep 17. Maybe, at the end of ep 17 (or start at ep 18)

I think a half of Ep 17 will continue in 1989 

- Taek and JH ‘ll talk each other about their feelings with DS

- Taek's Dad will confess with SW'mum

- We will know what career DS likes

- Taek can't confess with DS directly, but he need some movements to make her heart jump

* at least he need say to her " DS ah, don't treat to me like a kid any more. I’m a man now" ^^

 

* Taek should talk with her about what career she dreams about, give to her an encouragement. He need hug her and say “ I’ll always support you”

 

…

 

- DS will know two guy’s feeling to her before the jump time

But @onlysb1 the fact that deok sun started to have this crush after JH in the first place because of her friends. right? If not for them,it could be anyone.The way DS is acting hot and cold now with JH,is the same way she was with SW.I wonder if the writer is ever gonna stress on this,that deok sun would for once have a relationship on the basis of what she like,like how julia roberts was confused how she wanted to eat her egg lol.Deok Sun also needs to know which name comes first to her mind in case of relationship/So just because of this,I think this time the story is different...and maybe this time the love-hate relationship won't matter,what would matter is ds figuring out her mind on her own.

--- Also JH's feeling for DS may have been deep,but I've seen how deok sun tried to prim her up in front of JH or tried to act extra cute,it was like she has whole different idea of love in her mind...something influenced from her teen romance classics.It's  kind of frustrating too that the drama is more than half done without any growing of Deok Sun yet.

Wow guys  I realize this thread is full of nice and open minded people because we are aware of the possibility of our ship sinking  so our imaginations are beautifully crafted with hope and a high spirit ^^ Partly because we cherish simple yet meaningful moments rather than swoonthy ones  And I'm glad that different voices are heard hear, from both JH-DS and TK-DS shippers  And I do agree that even if TK turns out not to be the husband, all of us will respect the PD/writer's decision and happily congratulate whoever ends up with DS as we believe our beloved characters will surely be with the ones they love at the end of the road.

Can someone tell me the reasons as to why JH is the husband? Not why TK isn't the husband but specific JH clues? I'm genuinely asking because my mind has kind of dismissed it all in light of TK. I don't want to be blinded haha.

A couple that I can think of include:

1. JH is explicitly shown reading her postcard and knowing of her crush on SW
2. They have a photo taken together in January of 1989

"Clues" that I don't really consider clues:

1. JH likes Lee Miyeon
2. Husband is almost JH's carbon copy from what we've seen
3. We've followed JH's story from the beginning

 

To add on to my list of things that I want to see in the remaining four episodes...

Does anyone want to try seeing the fiasco that is Choi Taek cooking ramen once? LOL. There hasssss to be a reason why the gang don't even bother with him. I can just see him being like, "No. I can do it," (like when DS told him that she'll pull the plug for him) but just ... *goat bleats*
