Newsie
Hold on while I wipe the drool off my keyboard. Korean firefighters are taking off their helmets and coat and baring some skin for charity. The city of Seoul, South Korea annouced today, November 13 KST, that it will soon be releasing its “2016 Firefighter Calendar” featuring 14 firemen who participated in its “4th Momjjang Firefighter Contest.” […]The post Sizzling Hot Korean Firefighters Release Calendar for Charitable Cause appeared first on Soompi.View the full article
SC7
good cause. This is smart. More people will buy, and more money will be available to the burn victims.

Denali
At a loss for words. Let me guess? The concept for the calendar is all about the fact that since burnt victims can not show their skin, these firefighters expose theirs instead? The end does not necessarily justify the means. It's just a sexy calendar to help raise funds. It's not like they're doing anything illegal, so I don't really get why you seem offended. The calendars sell exceptionally well, and these men volunteered to do it. Nobody forced them to participate.

Not that you're an exception, quite the contrary.

You're completely missing the point...it's so funny lmao. They coulda made the concept whatever they wanted but it doesn't change their intentions. They found that this concept worked well and idk how you managed to see this in a negative light lmao.

Teleri Nyfain
Denale, WTF??? I love this concept - it's been done in various places and I'm ALL for it :D You don't like hot bods on guys? Or just when it's KPop on stage or in a drama? Get real.Meanwhile, most of us are really supportive of this idea - & would gladly see more, uh, CALENDARS, yep...Go firefighters! It's called being sarcastic. I could surely take time to explain the twisted way of thinking behind this calendar, but right now I got more important things to do. My country, France, has been hit by multiple terrorist attacks yesterday evening and I've been up almost all night talking with my 동생. She was waiting for news from 6 of her friends who attended/worked at the Batacla, the concert venue where over 100 have been murdered and many more in desperate state. Early this morning she found out that only 4 have survived. So let me/us grieve.
Ginaaaa
Think about this from another angle ... if this were a bunch of women being objectified, would everyone still feel the same way? That it's OK? I'm not against this calendar, but I do see the hypocrisy in my point of view. I absolutely detest the objectification of young women that happens in some of the Kpop MVs. It horrifies me and makes the little piece of me that has been influenced by Gloria Steinem scream. And here I sit, looking at pictures of some awesome muscles on men and think it's cool. And it's for a good cause. But does it make it right? Because if this was a calendar of female Kpop idols in various stages of sexual innuendo, I would think "Foul!" I'm only calling myself out here. This is not to criticize the POV of anyone else. But hopefully it will help generate a little more understanding all around.May all have peace. Women are always going to be more objectified than men are until the world finally wakes up and realizes that women absolutely need to have equal rights and privileges as men. While it's not okay to force anyone to objectify themselves, I still believe that they shouldn't be criticized if they want to express their sexuality. Do we know if that's the case with these firefighters? Maybe, maybe not.Women are basically seen as sex objects in the media, but they are called "sluts" if they dress too provocatively or enjoy having sex with different people in real life. Men, on the other hand, are expected to seek out sex whenever they can. There are just way too many double standards and contradictory views on sexuality everywhere. Not too long ago, girl group Stellar opened up on why they had no choice but to do sexy concepts. It made me angry and sad because they aren't the only ones dealing with this. The entertainment industry seems glamorous and shining on the outside, but it can be very seedy and have disgusting practices hidden underneath. Just look at what's going on with Kesha for another example.
Guest leelee.
@Denali I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to all the family, friends, and victims who were hurt in the attack. The whole world is grieving for France.
