Seems, that preview shows far more story, than it will be aired 12/13, misleading us again

scene with pecked kiss must happen earlier, than scene when WS in mask back hugging HS, cos see her injured lip

And for their marriage, guys, YH is capable of deleting HS name from kings family notes

see, if WS really HAD TO (and no other way, only of extreme need) marry YH, she would want to be first wife, as she told YU

so, WS is a man of his words, I do believe he married HS as he said in preview

but later YH made him divorce and even deleted HS name in records? That could be her option for marriage, very cruel

But. BUT. In all preview except damivon uniform dress, HS hair lay free, as if she isn't married. All married women and concubines, and palace maids who are forbidden to marry, have their hair tight.

That's why I only can guess now, what should it be, but I somehow trust WS, he will find a way for sure

  GOSH...I don't know whether this has been posted since this thread move at lightning speed for me to backtrack for every comments but I do have this tiny complaint that has been bothering me in this latest episode.

 

When I was watching this scene, I was thinking why is he's still wearing makeup?! His lady love is so bruise yet he bother to cover up his scar, he doesn't even bother with his life in the first place & he just woke up from his sick bed right...so did he became the vain Wang So now?

Why is he still so pretty shouldn't he appears with his mask or better yet his scar...you know more realistic under those situation. I know the makeup team wanted a pretty WS but it just take away the severity of those scenes. Especially the last scene, why bother with makeup when he doesn't even bother with his life right and wouldn't the rain ruin his makeup duh? It will be so daebak if he appear with a mask at the raining scene since he just give off such badass crusader vibe. @Yeekrfan2 dear, I feel your pain. I've complained about the same before... It's really annoying when my brain keeps harping on about lack of attention-to-detail by the production team while I am trying to get into the mood of the drama. Sigh...

It is sibling rivalry that Wook feels.  When So first came to the palace Wook felt that it was okay to be generous and friendly to him (a bit condescending) because So was the underdog and outcast, but So soon started showing that he was someone to be reckoned with in everyway.  Also, position wise in the royal hierarchy Wook is actually below So and when he sees him rising in favour with Soo, the king, the people and even Baek, he begins to be jealous and envious. I see Soo as being a toy to Wook that he does not want but nobody else can have, especially So.  It will be his hate of So for being all that he could not be that will drive him to evil and stop at nothing to drive a wedge between our SoSoo couple

I believe it's maybe she will be weating pretty clothes again , after wangmo becomes a king . since he realy loves wang so as his younger brother & best ally .. & he likes haesoo as a friend or younger sister

People might criticize this mythical take because we are not actually being shown the myth or the legends behind Hae Mo Su and Yuhwa, sky god's son and river god's daughter. But knowing the Yuhwa water maiden founding myth, knowing the water maiden legend behind Lady Oh, knowing the Lady Hae connection to the water maiden myth through her clan name, all converging in Su who is connected to water imagery time and again, has the Hae (Go) Ha Jin connection here and in the future, and is named by Lady Hae and Lady Oh as their spiritual if not literal daughter gives a lot of context to the writer's choices of symbol and theme. These myths lie under the story and we can only understand some of the writer's choices by knowing a bit about them and following the imagery. For me, they add so much depth to the story. 

One scene this last episode might illustrate what I mean. Lady Oh asks Su to leave with her - to go home. Su rejects that until Lady Oh is about to die in her place. She pulls her to the cavern beneath the baths and the blocked up exit and starts pulling down stones. The baths are fed by the river/hot springs we saw in the first episode. The added texture I saw was two water maidens - water itself - yearning for home, the home of the river, away from the hellish constraints, dammed up water, dammed up love, of the palace. 

And now Su's about to find herself a water slave judging by the previews. Consistent imagery again. 

To return to Queen Yoo and her baths. Maybe she's another water maiden character, a corrupted one. I see her more as an Ursula figure from the Little Mermaid. Stealing Ariel's voice, stealing her man. When Taejo chooses ambition over love, he chooses a false water maiden, with short term gains but no longevity or long term stability. Lady Oh remains as his support though - notice how he staggers when she dies as if a support has been pulled out from under him. Or how he interprets her decision to die as her abandoning him.

All the blessing and support of the water maiden for a new kingdom die with Lady Oh. Her death signals the beginning of chaos, deaths and near disintegration of the kingdom. It's up to Su now. 

 

My dear @brielover , I can definitely return the compliment. I loved your post as well.  I cut your post because we are not supposed to quote everything. Next time, do the same with my comments, since your replies are always very long.

So you asked me about Queen Yoo, if she had stolen her power from lady Oh.  I had to think about it. My conclusion is: no from my point of view. What I believe is that Queen Yoo loved Taejo and she was jealous that she could never be loved by Taejo. So her jealousy is the reason why she decided to use her sons to become the Queen Dowager. Striking is that she keeps saying that she would like to shine. So she wants to become the sun, while lady Oh is connected to water. They both represent two different things: sun vs. water. Therefore she doesn't steal her power from lady Oh. On the other hand, since she is so dirty (corrupt, vicious, cruel, greedy aso.), she is using lady Oh in a figurative way to appear so clean in the surface. That explains why lady Oh is always aware of Yoo's involvement and the latter feels threatened by her. Yoo is upset that lady Oh knows so much about her so getting rid of her was a good thing for Queen Yoo. She could feel relieved that her sins and crimes will disappear with lady Oh's death, since the latter is the one who knows Yoo the best. Queen Yoo always felt inferior to lady Oh hence she was always cruel to her. Hwangbo mentioned that Queen Yoo used to torment lady Oh. As conclusion, Yoo never stole the power from lady Oh. She wanted to be Taejo's biggest love and she always failed.

Since lady Oh was a court lady at Damingwo, she was responsible for the health and baths of the royal family, So basically, lady Oh never left her natural environement: water. On the other hand, Queen Yoo thought by marrying Taejo, she had succeeded, only to realise that her position as Queen had isolated her and it was an arranged marriage. He did not marry her for love. This must have hurt her therefore she placed all her hopes in her children. Yet, she got disappointed too because Taejo kept marrying other women so that her rank and position were more or less common. She wants to distinguish herself from all the others. She wanted to get Taejo's love, but she failed. The reason for her hatred towards Mu is also jealousy. She knows that Crown Prince gets all his father's love. She is mad about it as well so that she wants to get rid of CP either. Lady Oh and Wang Wu are so hated by her due to her jealousy. As we can see, Queen Yoo is obsessed with Taejo and his love. Yet, Queen Yoo was never able to make Taejo forget about lady Oh. The latter was pregnant with his child 10 years ago, this means that Yo and So were already born. So lady Oh's child never represented a thread to the inheritance to the throne. She killed the child because she knew that this unborn child was the result of Taejo's love for lady Oh. The bottom of the line is that she can't bear the thought that she was just a tool and that other people around her who are far less powerful than her (CP, lady Oh) are favored and loved by Taejo. The latter doesn't act like a king in front of lady Oh and Wang Mu: he is a lover and a father before a king with them. That's why Taejo is powerless in front of lady Oh. He said that she was throwing him away. His words reflect that lady Oh is the one who has control over Taejo therefore she could make requests to him, like f. ex.:

- Hae Soo as a court lady in D. palace

- she as the scapegoat in order to protect her child.

We shouldn't forget how lady Oh threatened Queen Yoo in the episode 8. She mentioned the king and this stopped Queen Yoo's action against Hae Soo.

But since Taejo has been accompanied by lady Oh all these years, he could bear the burden of being a king. However, lady Oh's death marks the beginning of his real loneliness. Like Hwangbo mentioned it, he would regret it as he would become lonely. And she is right. The burden of ruling as aking will weaken him and his heart wounded by the loss will never recover from it. He thought, with Queen Yoo's power he could be happy as king. Yet he was never really happy. From my point of view, Taejo is exactly like Wang Wook: he was just too greedy. He was ambitious and greedy so that he wanted the throne, but he wanted to be loved as a man that's why Taejo kept lady Oh by his side. However, Wang Wook's path will be more tragic: he gave up Hae Soo for his family and ambition and we all know that he will never succeed. He was just too greedy.

But Queen Yoo's character is interesting because she represents the future Yeon Hwa. In my opinion, that's how Yeon Hwa will be later. Yeon Hwa loves Wang So (we could see it again in the episode 11) and she is jealous of Hae Soo because she has noticed that both Wang So and Wang Wook are attracted to her. In the earlier episode, we could see her vulnerability and her affection for Wang So. Yet as time passes on, her ambition and greed become more obvious. Just like Queen Yoo, she started being cunning and scheming. She planned the poisoning by using people but she was not smart enough to realise that she was playing in Yoo's hands. She only realised it, when Wang So drank the poison. Interesting is that she was already rude and even cruel (She whipped Hae Soo herself!!) but she could show some empathy towards Wang So. In the episode 11, she is even crueler because she makes sure that Hae Soo gets arrested. she knows that Hae Soo will be tortured but she doesn't care. She is not the one doing it. In fact, she is not really confronted with the results of her action. Only one time, she has to face the consequences of her action: Wang Wook kills in front of her the court lady. Notice how shocked Yeon Hwa is. She is kind of surprised but als frightened. In my opinion, she will share the same fate than Queen Yoo whom she abhorrs. She will be happy to become the queen and to marry Wang So. She will think that her dream has come true: she has the position she wanted and she could marry the person she loves. However, she will realise that Wang So will never love her. Honestly, I am hoping that her brother will betray her as well. So far, Wang So thinks that his mother is behind the poisoning, but imagine when Wang So discovers he married the woman who actually poisoned him and even had his love arrested, he will hate her. I hope, this is going to happen. As conclusion, Yeon Hwa is Queen Yoo's in the making. Striking is that she uses the same words ("shine", be above the king aso). So her ambition and her greed knows no boundary. Her brother could tamper her behaviour, but since he declared she was no longer his sister, she has lost totally her moral compass. I said, she is in the making as she needs to be smarter since her first scheme didn't succeed entirely!! And in the end, she will be as much lonely as Queen Yoo and King Taejo.

count me in!!!!!! we wont see HS wear pretty clothes again in near time..if she doesnt wear pretty clothes soon, then the teasing pic that LJK post wont happen soon too???and that sexy back, i cant see in near time too then???ah LJK really test my patience...okay lets see if this really just teasing or will truly happen later in this drama

Thanks for your response. I like and agree with your analysis of Queen Yoo and Yeon Hwa following in her footsteps. I didn't pick up on the determination to "shine" but that makes a lot of sense. Neither has water maiden myth connections. They do indeed have "sun" symbolism, and this is of course the royal palace. I'm still not quite feeling the Queen Yoo and bath imagery in connection to the myths and legends. Every other water scene can be connected consistently so this one is still tugging at me. I loved your own analysis of the symbols in their own right but I think I'll reserve judgement pending later scenes as to how it fits with the mythology. Thanks again for your marvellous post!
