I have always been on Team So but let's just give Wook some justice here. Wang So is definitely courageous but I can't really say Wook is a coward. Unlike So, he has so many things at stake - the mom and even the evil sister whereas So has nothing to lose, he is an outcast to begin with and he has never been the one fearful of death. The one thing that Wook did badly was showing up during the rain and then turning his back on her. If he was not going to do anything and decided to abandon her, he would better just continue hiding rather than hurting Haesoo at her most vulnerable time. Wang So is definitely the man but Haesoo is definitely not the woman.

Next ep is not just the plot development of WS-HS-WW relationship but also the side plot of Won Hee and Baek Ha! They are the only second couple I am shipping in SHR! <3 

We don't see the 10th prince in this ep at all! He totally turned his back on her 

I love the scene here that Baek Ah went to visit HS - does anyone realise he is the first one to see her while she knelt? I am gushing over that scene right now!

 

i really liked that Baek Ah was the first and useful of the princes, preparing medicine for her. A man of sense. I knew I liked you for a reason, Baek Ah.

I love the scene as much as I begin to more understand about them. In front of each other HS and So always play strong. When So visit her at the jail both were hiding their pain and talk as if nothing happened. And in this scene if you all notice, after Wook (that I don't know why he turn his body and leave...oh that's so depressing for me) HS try to forget her shocked and fix her seat. Then she straightened her back and sit in strong position for her plead. And So...I don't know he aware about Wook or not, but he just keep his eyes fixed at his front not even look at HS, because he know HS will hate it if she find him pity her. And So know if he look at HS he will not able to restrain himself for taking her from that place and end her "stupid strike".

Was Wook seeing ghost or what....why he's leaving and let HS see him playing coward like that....this is the last time I'm having him hesitating over HS. All those sweet words from him means nothing now....

The burden to choose between protecting the  family and your love. During the Goryeo time when the status and virtue are important..even today in the 21st century, it is still tricky if the need to choose family and love...

Yeah, right? I totally pity Wang Wook! I cannot hate him! And I only cried at his scene when he killed the court lady for his sister and told his sister he will not see her as such anymore but 'creditors' - they owe each other a debt. That made me cry! He tried to be with Soo but his mother stopped him and even asked him to step over her dead body in order to reach her. How can he do that to his mum? For Soo he cannot sacrifice his mother, his family, that had been a reason for his political marriage with Myung Hee. Hard not to like this guy even if you cannot forgive him for abandoning love. Choosing family over romantic love is hard enough. 

Soo's cave scene with Lady Oh did not really make me cry, strangely.

Re Wook, since his character has been shown as really good and loving until now, could have still chosen his family without being that cruel. He anyway was within Hae Soo’s sight, he could have walked up to her and said that “I’m sorry; I have to side with my family as I don’t have a choice.” Then the 21^st century Hae Soo and we could have understood him and sympathized to an extent. But giving an impression to someone in need that he will fulfill that need and then abruptly walking away is indeed cruel. Though I love the actor, if I find Wook crying and bawling Hae Sooooooooyaaaah again, I’m gonna wish that Wang Yo drives an arrow through his eyes!

Before we talk about the three VVIP, i want to talk about Madam Oh first. That lady is one of a kind. She was right, the Queen didn't win the game. She did. For she took the King's heart with her. She lived and end her life all out of love. Her love for the king made her live an unwanted life. Her love for HS make her choose her way to die. So I guess Madam Oh is HS's mother in Goryeo era because only a mother dared to bare a pain to that extreme for her child. So, I rise my glass for all mothers in the world. 

So this eps marking the end of Wook and Soo relationship. He had decided his destiny and so is the destiny of their relationship. I love how the prod team give me a reason why he had to turn his back. It's not because he doesn't love her but he doesn't love her enough to make that kind of sacrifice: he would have to abandon his mother and sister (although I doubt Wook will care for her as he care before but YH will still be his valuable person). He resent his own steps and the person who make him take it but for Wook, who has been living a world full of pressure, lies and deceits, in order to live and be what he wants, he has to take it. 

For Wook, losing HS will make him lose the one thing that make him feel compassion towards another because he had lose his heart. So be prepare for the heartless Wook. We have seen it in a glance when the preview ran, when he mock So, "A prince will marry a launder?" 

It doesn't mean that to mock HS, you know. It just his way to vent his frustration, for WS can do what he can't. His jealousy towards WS is one that make him bitter and cruel. 

I love how KHN portraying Wook to the bits. His anger is dark and visible when he said to WS, "I shouldn't let her hanging around with you in the first place. Now we come to this." His jealousy and disappointment when HS asked about WS being first when they first met in prison. He tried to the very end to maintain his persona to HS, he didn't let her see his disappointment and again he promised her he will set her free. This is turn out to be empty again but not because he didn't want to try but because the other side is his sister. His face when he found out about YH, is one I couldn't forget. There's so many emotions flashing and moulded into one: disbelieve, anger, disppointment, betrayed and manipulated. He said to her sister that she own him big because of that. And mark his word, he will collect it. For that night he believed that the person whom he ever truly love surely die and in a sense apart of him died with her. That night he made up his mind to be A King. YH ws right. It was always his ambition no matter how hard he tried to deceive himself because of HS. The scene where his mother kneel before the evil Queen make it steel hard. 

So, Wook decided to abandon his love for now. Like in the final moment when his eyes met HS's, the love still there but the pain of unrequited love is too hard and painfull. He knew he can't be seen quth HS. Why is he still there then? Because he can't help it. Although he knew he will make her disppointed and later turn her heart, he had to see her. He ashamed of it, his act of not helping HS. Power do make a man become such a coward. But Madam Oh was spot on when she said, it will make him regret his cowardness. His love is not an empty love for me at least. Many of us have to back out of a relationship, not because we don't love the person or want to be with him/her, but because the situation wouldn't let us and we are to coward to take chances. Wook is kinda like that. My take is, that's why later Wook will again persue HS. Because later, his heart can no longer contain his hard long longing. He will miss her every second he's not with her. But that's for later. Today, I'm just glad I finally get to see the wolf. A clever deceitful heartless wolf named Wook. 

WS in the other hand, had prove his love is as big and strong as the mountain. Even when he was dying he still concern about HS. He wanted her to be the last thing he sees and told her to quickly go away because he fears she will be the escape goat. He wasn't cover yet but he tried to sneaked in to see HS, much to BA annoyance. He revealed it was his mother behind this without hesitation to the one who he think can help and solve this matter. He didn't even care that guy is his rival. He even confronted his father and make him angry. As long as his Soo is safe, anything or anyone will do. This pattern will repeat itself time and again. 

It breaks my heart a little bit when he visited HS in the prison. Seeing the one he love, bleeding and week must be upsetting. But he tried to lighten the mood. He lied and say he didn't know the tea was poisoned and denied he did it to save her, so that she didn't feel guilty. I guess WS really knows how HS's mind work. He smiled when she worried about him and start to give him lecture on how to take care of himself. For him, it was the evidence that she really do care about her and it's not wrong to choose him as his person. 

I don't see him as being pushy to HS. Regarding the beach scene, I think it was the choice of words that making him look like one. If they choose to make him say, "If it was for you, I think I can kill someone. I won't let anyone be in a way for me being with you. I know your heart is not yet the same as mine, but I will wait for that day to come. All I know is right now for me, you are mine as I am yours." Still sound pushy? Well, then let me remind you that he said he will ask for permission to kiss later. He lied of course. Haha. 

To HS, this eps is the beginning of her new life. In the preview she even didn't want to be associated with the princes anymore as she said, "You can't be with me, Wang Ja-nim." (cmiiw. It goes by so fast). But that will not stop WS, so don't worry. He will do what he please, he said to Wook. Even if it meant to demote his rank for marrying a launder. He never care for power or throne anyway. Until the situation make him to save her. (my bet is Wook try to take her by winning the games of throne)

She tried to believe Wook until the last minute. She even dare herself to ask about Wook to BA, although backed out because of his expression. When she saw Wook walking toward her, she was so happy. Maybe she thinks "My belief didn't fail me" but her face quickly turn to sour and heartache when he stop and back away. Luckily, in no time WS was there, sheltering her from the rain with a proud and determined look. If that doesn't make her change heart, I dont know what will. But HS's back was straighten the moment WS come for her. Like her gesture was saying, I know I could count on you. I know you wouldn't abandon me. I know you will get my back. 

So two relationship was broken apart and one is on their way sailing tonight. It was a beautiful episode. I thank the PD and the prod team for that. They delivered a heart strung performance. Bravo.

Lesson to learn today from Lady Oh. 

Don't abandon anyone or you'll regret it for the rest of your life.

This is why I hate watching previews after every Tuesday's episode, now I'll spend the rest of the week thinking about what will happen next, specially that kiss scene, aww! 

Anyway, we had a pretty intense episode today... 

1. Wang Wook  pulling some major Star Wars s*** on us, going from Anakin to Darth Vader in an instant. That scene where he stopped then turned his back on Soo, I seriously wanted to throw my shoes at the back of his head. I mean I get that he also has his family to consider [and we all expected that this will happen] but we spent half of the series watching him and Soo all gooey eye over each other and  in the end he wussed out just like that? So much for his big declarations of love! 

2. Lady Oh sacrificing her life to save Hae Soo. No words needed, the tear stains on my cheeks explains everything. Btw, so far anyone who treats Hae Soo with a motherly/familial affection winds up dead, isn't that a wee bit morbid? 

3. Wang So proving time and again that he is THE ONE. Not just for Soo but also for the throne. He was the only one who  had the courage to talk to the king [who IMO has no balls whatsoever because he is aware that evil queen SMS is behind all these machinations but chooses to ignore it at the expense of someone else's life] and was ready to cross swords with the guards just to protect Soo. Oh and that scene at the beginning when he was reaching out his hand to Hae Soo as he is slowly losing consciousness and not to mention that part where he visited Hae Soo in prison? and just about every effing scene that involves him?... just perfect, I got chills. LJG is definitely the star of this show! Although I did LOL when he went all Dracula on us while shielding Soo from the rain.  

Special mention to Prince Baek Ah, you win BFF OF THE YEAR, for always looking out and caring for So & Soo. I also acknowledge Prince Jung and Crown Prince Mu.

LJG and KHN nailed their scenes as usual.but tonight's episode belongs to the actresses who played HS, Court Lady Oh and as annoying,hateful as it is YH. Kudos and a virtual unending round of applause.

I had a bad day at work and came home just in time to catch this on tv...best epi and saddest epi by far.

It was an unusually cold day as the royals of goryeo stood by and did nothing as an innocent life was taken.

History would judge them for failing to do what they should have.

Very disappointed in WW. As HS made a pointless endeavour to protest against King's order, she said that its better than not doing anything. In deed, even if the result might be the same, when another life is on the line, its worth trying or at least pray for a miracle. WW's cowardice of not trying (becos of his responsibilities/burden) in contrast to HS' bravery and persistence just make me look down on him. 

4th prince on the other hand, sacrificed his life for the one he loves. He left the "party" to die quietly and told HS to flee when he was dying just to protect her, has earned my respect. Seriously only he is good enough for HS and powerful enough. WW, indeed, is of no match. Even Lady Oh reprimanded him, saying he could have tried different means of saving her, but he didnt. 

What a sad day. 

HS shld and must fall in love with WS. And this crisis will be a turning point for HS, that you need a powerful man. Even though she was once afraid of WS, knowing that hes gonna kill his brothers. She might come to realise (after this incident), that its inevitable, in order to survive. I know the thot is gruesome but after todays epi, its...a battle of the fittest. And HS is not a monster becos others are worst. Powerless and spineless. 

I dont know. Circumstances might have limited them...but you only live once. At least die for a worth cause...

I think Wook wanted to save Soo when he appeared but he tends to think too much and when he thought of how much his mum and family depends on him, he could only turn his back on her. He did not appear in the scene planning to abandon her in the first place!

But is true that Wook has too much to lose while So has little to lose, which makes the decision by Wook so much harder. Such an unfortunate character. 

I don't wish to judge a character so I try to understand them as much as possible and find it hard to hate them for the actions they did or did not do. But if they are truly evil, it will be hard to like them like So's mum or Yeonhwa, even the 9th prince.  The crown prince, 13th and 4th all knelt with Soo but the 9th simply took the umbrella away and left! 

HS' maid also made an appearance in this ep! Hope she'll enter the palace soon!
