And Hae Soo ya! Please look at So and don't get bothered with that premonition you got! You said yourself that So will ascend to the throne with or without your help, but your existence may soften his heart!

Agree 100%. Yooku bgm reasonable than sbs bgm. 

Inside Hae so was scared and felt insecure while outside, wang so with the anger feeling. Sbs bgm didnt suit the condition.How can they put love song in such condition...the song got to wang wook and hae so or when there is a mellow scene between wang so and hae so.

I think it does stay faithful to the novel but there are some scenes left out of the drama from the novel. I've seen the drama twice and unfortunately haven't read the novel. But I'd love to if I could find somewhere that translated it into English.

I had my reservations about the choice of IU for this drama, but now that I've seen the nine episodes I can say that I like her acting. There are actresses of Korean dramas that I cannot stand, or are too sweet, or too exaggerated, but with IU it seems that she knows well how to move between the comic and dramatic part. Nothing seemed exaggerated in yesterday's episode, remember that Hae Soo comes from a different era to Goryeo so is normal her reaction and she just follow what the director and the script says. And most importantly she has good chemistry with Kang Ha Neul and Lee Joon Ki, so don't give importance to what doesn't have it, let's continue enjoying MLSHR that gets better in each episode.

i truly think that the kiss moment is the worst moment that they have individually.. HS with her panic that WS might kill his brother and WS is finally i guess realize that except WJ his family is the worse of all... 

they both need a comfort and found each other (not a good thing) and things just make the wrong turn...

you can see in preview they both calm enough and WS don't really believe whatever that HS said.. yes she might have something going on behind him but WS can see throughout his friendship with HS she not really that type of person.. also i like that he bring the friendship thing.. yes he love her the most but above all she is his first friend in Goryeo...

yeah get that girl WS.. you on the right path already..

I am actually enjoying this drama very much! I am baffled to why the ratings are so low in S. Korea. Could someone explain why there are 2 versions of this show? It is making a lot of people including myself, confused. The scene between HS and WS where she does his make-up and teaches him how to do it himself was lovely and I don't understand why it was cut from the version at DF. Why is SBS showing 2 versions of the same drama? The fact that they are cutting scenes does not contribute to good editing!

So accuses Hae Soo that she feels pity for him - the emotions he sees in her eyes whenever she looks at him - he mistakes them for pity, or rather he convinces himself they’re pity, and he is angry at her and even more at himself because deep down he knows that he wants from her far more than that. What he sees in her eyes makes him confused because subconsciously he can feel there is more to it than pity. Wang So hates his scar, and in a way he hates himself, so it’s inconceivable for him that someone could love him when he even can’t love himself. From HS’s suprised reaction it’s obvious that she’s still completely unaware of the the way she looks at him and how different it’s from the way she looks at Wook - it’s so unguarded and open - when she is looking at So she doesn’t wear her mask. 

Even when she’s asking him that about it, her eyes and her own body betray her hidden feelings for him as they subconsciously react to his touch. She must avert her gaze because just like So, even she is confused and deeply affected with the emotions she sees in his eyes; even when she is not looking at him, she is not able to escape him, his nearness, because her mind is focused on her wrist where he is touching her. And when So ever so slowly begins to release it, as if he were loathe to let go of her despite his words, it feels more like a gentle, sensual caress of a lover full of longing. HS’s reaction and body language belie her own words and it really shows that she’s indeed sending him mixed signals which frustrates him because he doesn’t know how to explain it.

The whole moment is so impossibly poignant because it mirrors the time when So angrily confronted Hae Soo about her injuring herself  - again, it’s angry and raw and honest, and again they are talking about scars, this time his; something that would be a taboo topic for anyone else, but not them. And yet again, he is covering her scar with his hand - it feels like they are connected, bonded. What I find so symbolic about this gesture is that while Wook covered her scar with a cold bracelet, So keeps covering it with his warm hands - he keeps touching it. And she can feel it - his warmth, his body, his skin touching hers. All their conversations are so meaningful, while with Wook she always talk about things that don’t really matter - pillows, books,…

“Stay out of my sight. Next time… I don’t know what I’ll do. “

Wang So said the same thing to HS after she told him that the leader of the assassins wore fur. However, this time he is referring to his feelings that get out of control whenever he is around her. He’s warning her not because he would physically hurt her, but because he just might act on them. When he leaves her, the sheer emotional toll that that conversation had on Soo sends her reeling back, falling on the same pillar against to which So pinned her only moments ago, and despite it all she can’t stop herself from watching him leave.

Why is there 2 versions of the episodes?

To explain it simply, this show was pre-produced, meaning that all episodes were shot in advance and edited. Moreover, before this show was aired in Korea, it was sold to multiple countries to be simultaneously broadcasted. Therefore, the overseas broadcasting channels, who bought the rights to this show, have already subbed the episodes and they air them at the same time the episodes are broadcasted in Korea.
However, since this show did not receive high viewership rates in Korea as expected, the production company decided to re-edit the episodes. Nonetheless, the production company either,
1. Did not send it to the overseas broadcasting channels that already bought this show.
2. Or they did send it, but the broadcasting channels did not want to spend more money and time to re-translating the episodes.
However, that was what cause the chaos.

What are the 2 versions?

The original international version and the SBS re-edited version.

How to know which version I'm are watching?

It is simple, just look at the top right corner and if there is an SBS's logo, you are watching the re-edited version. Plus, usually, the original version starts with a song, while the re-edited version starts at the lake shot with the 15+ age restriction.
If you are watching in Kissasian & dramalove, it is the SBS re-edited version. If you are watching on dramafever & hdfree , it is the original version. Many of you keep thinking that Kissasian has the original version and keep confusing the scenes.

Are there many differences between the 2 versions?

No, there is not much difference except for a few extra scenes and some music difference. However, I suggest you choose one version to watch and then watch the extras from the other version. All the extra scenes timings will be included below.
 

The SBS version has some untranslated lines, why is that?

If you notice some missing subs, that means you are watching the SBS re-edited version.

There are 2 versions of the show because the original version of the show was already sold to Dramafever and Youku, but based on the netizens complaints of the original broadcasts (Not enough Lee Jun Ki? Too much Baekhyun and the other princes? Background music) SBS reedited the show - which is why the Korean broadcast is often LJK-centric with BGM without a lot of the rap-hip hop songs...

Hi Chingu's on this thread, silent lurker here.  I really don't see nothing wrong with IU's acting. This drama was pre-produced I think the main target market is China and they need to strictly follow their guidelines.  Not bad for having 1billion views at Youku and seems like other international market has no problem either. SBS caters to domestic clients  and they have the ability to make adjustments base on the their viewers reaction.

It is an adaptation,  so for me anyway, I am just enjoying it, not really sure what will be the ending but I am hoping it will be a happy one for the OTP.   Probably bloodshed is unavoidable in the coming episodes, so be it!

Thank you and @vieedhaso much for the explanations on different versions! I actually am also enjoying a lot the other historical drama being shown at the same time, I don't think since I started watching K-dramas, I have ever liked so much Monday and Tuesdays dramas as I am right now. Mondays and Tuesdays really rock for me now!

I have realised something after re watching all the episodes. Since the beginning I was too busy hating on queen sms aka the witch  to notice the other queen aka the mother of witch number 2. 

WW and his mom are  similar in so many ways, blood is thicker than water after all. In appearance she seems to be very calm, demure and kind hearted but her character  seems more complex just like WW.

In the scene where ww comes to seek for her help after it was revealed that the king was going to marry haesoo, the way she looked at him was so cold and dark, she didn't want him to show his emotions  in front of queen sms as if showing them  would make him appear as weak. She is much more calculative than I thought...

Remember eventhough she looked worried and cared for her late daughter-in-law she didn't fulfill her wish yet (haessi wanted ww to marry haesoo) and I don't think she will ever let that happen. In the preview, ww is the one who's informing them (the queen and YH) of his decision to marry HS and honestly the queen didn't seem that pleased.YH's evilness will be even more noticeable after that moment since she will stop supporting her brother.

i still want to talk about how different that WS being portrayed in this drama compared to 4th... 

well both of them broken person but WS is worse because of his scar and his family.. and the friendship with Ruoxi and HS.. 4th in cdrama not really a friend to Ruoxi i guess cause Ruoxi try very hard to avoid him and later close to him because she learn all his like and dislike in order to get his good side.. and yes Ruoxi can seem a bit manipulative although later on she really fall in love with 4th...

WS and HS have a more solid built friendship.. both dislike each other initially and HS with her limited knowledge of history don't know that WS is KG so she just basically don't care how broken WS is also the fact WS is a prince and just treat him like a person.. that make WS always notice her and start a friendship.. i think the point their friendship start is when HS saw WS in his lowest point (after killing the monk) and don't judge him... what HS did to him is actually make him accept himself and be a better person.. so WS start to fall in love with one person who truly care for him.. also HS have more emotion and soft heart than Ruoxi... so the way HS will love WS is different too...

even here you can see how different the dynamic between the lead.. the way both 4th and WS love their other half also different.. i often said that WS love is more deep and raw cause HS changed him in so many way. so as someone that know the ending that drama and novel have its truly scared me on how much its going to effect WS if he loss HS.. even now we can see how desperate he is to being with HS..

the ending is downright cruel to both of the lead... i can't find any ending to a story as tragic and heartbreaking as in BBJX...

yes its memorable cause sometime we don't get what we want even if we love each other and its realistic but man to do that to WS and HS?? its just not right at all....

That little boy's name was Eun Wol in modern Korea (his relatives call out to him by name). Su dives in to save him, the eclipse begins, time shifts, and she emerges from the water to find another Eun this time in Goryeo. A Eun that acts much younger than his age - a defining feature - to highlight his connection to that little boy in Korea. People blame Baekhyun for overacting, and he does, but he has also been directed to act in just this way. 

This helps explain to me why Eun gets  so much more screentime relative to the other princes. 

Eun Wol - the little boy in Korea - is likely a reincarnation of Eun, 10th prince of Goryeo. 

And Su's imperative remains. 

"Save the boy". 

Doesn't this give much more impact - and horror - to the vision she just saw?  She's been catapaulted to Goryeo perhaps for a variety of reasons (see my river-daughter post p 516 if you're interested in some mythical/historical possibilities), but her main and most immediate imperative is to save Eun.
