Popular Post skxz
REVIEW EP 9 My stream last night was about as horrible as Queen Yoo so I had to re-watch and analyse the whole thing today. Here goes! The rain ritual comes to an end with Hae Soo looking like she’s seen the devil. We cut to Yo who is furious that he lost the chance to the seat. But then his mother slaps him and he is beyond stunned by her actions. “If I am to rise up as a king’s mother, you must be persistent and ruthless.” This woman is so selfish how can she be anyone’s mother. Yo realising that all he is doing is to benefit his mother and to help her up the pyramid. When will Yo learn? My guess is NEVER. “I am to raise you up, Mother?” He is hurt by her actions but continues to stand by her side. Finally So receives the recognition he has wanted from his father. I am so happy for him. LJK is (I’ve said this a million times but I feel like it ain’t enough) absolutely amazing with his expressions. The layer of tears in his eyes really shows how happy and shocked he is that he has been recognised and praised by his father. His father sees him as a force of greatness. When he said “Father.” I was like YESSSSSSS. Spoiler Jimong is really creeping me out. He’s describing the future but he doesn’t seem to know it. Maybe he’s lost his memories from when he was in the future. But the way he says it with that smile on his face. CREEPY. He has visions of the future and Hae Soo is having visions of the past? “Leave things to play out the way they are meant to be.” That is some very good advice Ji Mong. Soo needs to get the idea that she can change history out of her head. It will only make her and those around her suffer. Spoiler It was nice to see So all happy and cheery that things were finally going right for once. But what made that scene difficult to enjoy was that although So was happy and smiling Soo was standing beside him beyond terrified. When he said that he was starting to like himself and accept himself my heart skipped a beat. It was all thanks to Hae Soo but was it a bad thing? It gave a rather unsettling feeling. Seeing So smile though was a gift from the Gods. Thank you! Spoiler “I’d rather die” Eun doesn't want to get married but is forced into it anyway. As he thanks the King for his benevolence a bag of marbles falls out of his sleeve. To me this represents the childishness of Eun and that he is far from ready to be married. The ancient times sure are cruel. Spoiler My god Won has no chill. Soon Duk is so adorable and she’s such a strong female character. But her being paired with Eun idk, I need to keep watching them to feel like they’re a good pairing. She’s so aggro and he’s such a baby but the two of them as so cute hehehe. “Sister-in-law can beat any man.” Good one Jung way to make your hung feel better. OMG yessss Beak Ah and Woo Hee is happening. I loved their little bickering and they complement each other so well. Waiting for the ship to start sailing And she dropped a very ornate pendant which Baek Ah picked up less. Till they meet again. Spoiler The Soo Wook scene had my heart melting/shattering idk I was so confused. Soo gifts him a pillow to help him sleep better at night but Soo I don’t think that’s gonna happen cause a court lady will not be released as Eun is getting married. Wook looks very troubled by this and doesn’t know when an opportunity like this will arise again. He gifts her a book and when she initially sees it she’s like oh no not another book. “I will study hard.” But then to her surprise it is the most adorable flip book of when she was following him in the snow. Soo also has he own worries but doesn’t express them because she doesn’t want Wook to worry anymore than he already is. She just asks for him to wait. Why do I feel that this won’t end well. WHY?! BUT THEN HE TELLS HER HE LOVES HER OMG FINALLY! AND THEY HUG. WOOK WHY YOU GOTTA ALWAYS SWAY ME. Spoiler Now to the scene where Soo talks to Eun before he gets married. She firmly tells Eun that she can’t live in a polygamous relationship. “I can’t share my husband with several woman.” I wonder if/how this will change with So. Cause if he does end up marrying Yeon Hwa first then that goes against your values and morals Soo so what makes you change your mind? Is it you wanting to change history? Will things go bad? I’m very curious. Awwwwww Eun! Don’t cry! He calls her a liar and that even he had asked her to be his first wife she would’ve said no. Soo is beyond shocked. I hate to say this but where is the lie. Eun was spot on. But Eun you guys can be friends don’t be sad!! Sun talking about how he is lesser than his brothers in intelligence and just all round further emphasises that he is still young and growing. He is aware of it though their is nothing he can do because life in the palace means your life is dictated and you live your life following orders of those above you. Eun thinks Soo doesn’t like him because his stupid but I feel like if you’re aware that your stupid that makes you rather smart. Soo assures him that she was happiest with him. That’s so sweet. Unrequited love really does hurt the most. But I am really glad that Eun got that off his chest, I feel like this will strengthen his relationship with Soo. The marriage scene is so cute. Soon Duk is so straight up hahaha. I love her warrior fighting spirit. Spoiler But the cheerful scene was soon ruined by the grim visions which Hae Soo is having. My heart stopped for a good second when these images flashed across my screen. They are literally bloody visions. Spoiler The scene with the King talking to So and Yo shows a massive turn of events for the both of them. Yo is being sent on a dangerous mission whilst So has been grated charge of Yo’s tasks. Oh how the tides have turned. Yo are you feeling the karma? When Yo finishes talking to Ji Mong we see his intense gaze on the throne. He seems more determined than ever now that nothing is going his way. Well like his mother he doesn’t know when to quit. Spoiler Queen Yoo you’re next level crazy. “Let’s forget the past.” Are you serious woman?!?! You who cause a permanent reminder on So’s face now wants him to forget the past? Last time I checked you were constantly reminding him of how worthless and shameful he was. Treating him nicely just so you get what you want. Who are you seriously? You are pure evil. And having poor Jung a completely innocent soul sit in on this. I just can’t with this scene they are so underhandedly and manipulative. UGHHHH someone just punish them. Save my from destroying my computer screen. OMG the conversation after the dinner. All theses angles being played FUARRRRRRR. So you are next level. Just when your mother thought she could manipulate you and make you hate the people that are now looking after you. I love it! “Do not call me in here again.”- So taking a stance against his mother's manipulative ways. And Jung’s outburst! Yes you go Jung! Tell that Lady! How does it feel to be rejected and disliked by someone you love Queen Yoo? Not pleasant is it? Spoiler As expected So still had the slightest bit of hope that he would finally be accepted but it was once again torn from him. Just as the gash was healing someone has dug at it and cause it to bleed again. He has repeatedly given his mother chances and each time she has done nothing but verbally and emotionally harm him. The FINAL SCENE What pained me the most was seeing how frightened Soo was of So. She who helped breakdown his walls and accept himself for who he is is not telling him that he will ruing everything and he needs to go far away. So was beyond hurt. To me the scene was out of frustration and his mark on her that she belongs to him. She had attacked him like everyone else had saying the same hurtful things. She went back on her word and he was in disbelief. He couldn't handle what he had heard and became super possessive. "Don't push me away. Don't tell me to leave." "You are my person. You belong to me. You are mine! Without my permission you cannot leave me. You cannot die either." Not gonna lie the double kiss scene was AMAZING! I loved it! and even tho it was forced it was acted out well and the camera angles were great. I was honestly just disappointed by the fact that it was the cliffhanger. I mean like C'MON seriously?!!?!? How can you put what was in the teaser as the cliffhanger. Cruel beyond words man. We are getting played. So now to talk about Soo’s visions I don’t think they are reality. I think they are a warning to her that she needs to stop trying to change what is inevitable. Because if she does her visions are a premonition of what will take place. But honestly I can't think straight anymore. SOOOOOO much happened in that episode and everything had me worried. Like NOTHING was going right except for the fact that So has been recognised. Everything else just goes from bad to worse. Why can't Monday just be here. This is probably one of the longest posts I have ever written. There was just a lot to talk about and a lot to vent out. Thanks as always for getting to the end! Lots of love!! ~SKXZ~

She cannot do anything in her position, so maybe the only chance she has is letting the leeves break and spill her heart out TO HIM directly, with no holding back. She cannot just keep such a secret to herself without going (and looking) crazy, in front of him (who's explicitly asking for her love and trust and cannot be ignored anyway) and everybody else (who might pay the price if she just stays still and doesn't do anything). Spilling the beans right in front of WS might be the best thing to do, even if it's cruel. Some sort of twisted way to show him some trust despite everything. I'd like to know what you think of my reasoning... Does it make sense, somewhat? I quite like your opinion and it made me curious how WS would changed HS's view of him, since i think in c-version, the 4th didn't have this problem like WS had in earning HS's trust and heart.
iloveknovela
I was really surprised about HS reaction in episode 9. Her character seems inconsistent. She admitted that she didn't do well in history at school. She almost couldn't recall the King's accomplishment. She said she only heard that GJ was responsible for killing his brothers but clearly she was unsure if he really did and for what reason. She speaks carelessly out of ignorance and judge WS in contradictory to what she told him earlier for being a good person despite his scar. Doesn't make sense to me. She was immediately terrified of the unknown, which is commonly what foolish people does. Just because she knows something, she act as if she knows it all. It was all about her preconceive notion of what GJ was as an emperor, when in reality she had very little knowledge about him. The King even praised her for her intelligence but I don't see her that way in this episode. For me she's a woman who lacks wisdom (= application of knowledge) and could be dead due to her untamed tongue. She look so highly about herself that she can change the history that she doesn't remember clearly. How can you change/correct something that you don't know. In fact her reaction could be more harmful than helpful. Imagine telling WS that he will ruin everything in the end. Who would like to hear that? More so with WS who is always told to be a bad luck or the likes, as he was growing up. More so hearing it from same lips who told him he is a good person? Indeed the book of Proverbs is correct in saying "be careful how you think because your thought runs your life." She was ignorant and yet she let the unconfirmed information consume her and make foolish remarks. Okay, given that GJ was like that, at least she could have compared it with the WS that she's currently with. Is he that kind of person? If he is, then think of a way where in she could make a difference. But she did the opposite. She's trying to protect something in a way that could even worsen the situation. Our mind is the battle ground actually ... so if we are given vision or premonitions like that, it serves as a warning to prevent something from happening. So how we think and decide determines the outcome. HS already told WW of her baseless fears and it will certainly change how WW view WS in the future. WS reaction is understandable... that feeling of having that betrayed trust... especially from someone closest to him. On the contrary, this also a very good catalyst too see what kind of person WS truly is. Most often people will misunderstand us not because of what we do but because of the condition of their heart. Since WS's heart is good he will probably think about it in a different perspective.

sooji28
Just watched episode 9. And, is it just me, or this episode makes me exhausted and sad? Poor So. Being left out with evil mom, and now when he opens his heart, the woman he likes turn him away? About the ending, i think i need to see both ending (international and sbs version). Because i watched SBS version and it's a short one and too forceful. But i heard the international version has longer kiss. Jaebal, please, if any of you chingus, has those scenes, kindly share those scene. I really want to watch/see those scene. Perhaps it will change my point of view about those forceful ending kiss. fathiayunia
I logged out like 12 hours ago and It's already more than 15-something pages later (it keeps increasing eveytime I'm refreshing). I'm new here, so is this thread always moving full speed like this? Even after tuesday? Screw Ratings. Seriously you eclipses are the best When watching MLSHR in One yesterday I'm a little distracted by my college homework and missed some of the scene.. I missed WS slayed the 10th&his wife too (I can't wait to get home from college and watch it). But because I'm so curious, I googled some gif, and once again I'm blown away by LJK's acting. I can feel his pain and frustration in that crazy laugh. It's sad to see him lost control like that, while in recent episode he tried so hard to have his emotion under control . But isn't that setting somehow looks like an attack something? Maybe he is not that ruthless? HS in her vision didn't see the whole picture, right. From what I've seen so far, WS is not someone who's gonna kill his caretaker's (the general) daughter. It's against his loyal character. In fact I'm guessing and hoping that sweet little girl and 10th will be his ally in the future, along with Baek-Ah. Maybe the WW camp will attack 10th in his residence and makes WS's camp lost some secret paper or something. When WS arrived, it's already too late and 10th is on the verge of death and to redeem himself, keep WS secret or something (because thankfully after having a wife he becomes smarter) in case the WW camp comes back, and ease his pain, 10th ask WS to kill him. So WS kill him and become a little crazy because he just kills an ally and someone he trusts. (Pfffft.. I've watched too many dramas) So she doesn't know the cause of what WS is going to do (or maybe what he will do in an alternate past. but not in this past. LOL I'm confused by the many possibilities) and in fact scared WS will become someone so ruthless it's scary while in fact WS is still himself !!! So have faith people!!! esp. HS!! (I so want to calm her nerves down and bring her some herbs or something) Well my theory is biased towards WS and see him as bad boy gone good and WW as good boy gone bad. LOL

Despite, he's apparent lack of involvement with his sons, he actually and permanently evaluate them and keep them under a close scrutiny. During the show we found out that it was the grand general who taught So martial arts upon king's command. We found out that despite the fact So was sent to Shinju as a hostage, he got king's approval to remain with the imperial court, close to the Crown Prince. He started his education/gaining of knowledge, and it's relevant to remember his discussion with the grand general. The general was honestly concerned asking about his interest in the court customs and books/knowledge/learning. He's concern is obvious as So was always perceived as a ruthless warrior. Why a warrior is interested in such mundane aspects, unless.... He was brutally pushed to face his fears and insecurities, and he did well in building his first layer of confidence. He was permanently put to tests to prove he's ready for something bigger. None of his brothers was fit to be a true successor. And the scene in the ep. 9 was that emphasizing the contentment of the king firstly, and of the father secondly.... So became are what the king was expected him to be. The first part of his journey was completed. I have two theories regarding the visions/premonitions/memory fragments or whatever anyone wants to call them... The first is that they are flash forwards -- true but incomplete pictures that are out of context. Sort of like trailers for movies. Until it happens there is no way of knowing how the pieces fit together. The other is the multiverse theory and our Su is seeing images that are unfolding through the eyes of another Su from another universe when the borders between them come perilously close. Like in Fringe, the scifi tv show. I fully agree with you approach of incomplete picture that are out of context. Or maybe warnings/triggers/signals of events about to happen. Maybe metaphors. projections that however depend on many variables. Your multiverse theory is plausible, as one version of Soo can have a glimpse of an alternate universe where specific action was taken, under specific circumstances and she is able to see warning or a preview of what might happen in the future. She's not an Observer in the true sense...she's more like September (Fringe reference), making some things to happen if all the variables in that universe are met without causing major disturbances in that timeline. Out of the many of version of Soo in different alternate universes, maybe she was the most fit to make the fine adjustments. No one in the Goryeo timeline has ever expressed any curiosity regarding Soo's skills of preparing make-up and other stuff. Was she interested before? Did she have some skills that got polished overnight? From this perspective Lady Oh is an Observer, she knows things, she see things. She has a grasp of the love lines and she made her concern known to Soo. She is on the same side of trickster characters whose presence shape up Soo trajectory.
dancingbee
This last episode shows how both Wang So and Wang Wook have begun to think about their places in life. It is the first time we hear Wang So mentioning about sitting on the throne. And Wang Wook starts thinking about where his place shall be.... Wondering what are the reasons behind the ideas of both princes ? If they both want to be the King, why?.........

solelylurking
I've look at the second make up appliance. WS looked at HS so lovingly while talking so soft and warm with her it breaks my heart... She's creating distance between them but it wasn't bothering him. He just questioning her about it in everyday manner. Like when you ask your lover, "Why haven't you eat today? Is your stomach unwell?" as soft and cocern as possible. Sorry for the bad metaphor hehe. He also took a step forward to be closer to her. With Wook, it's as easy as breathing air because he is a gentle person initially. That's just his thing: being gentle and caring and comforting. Seeing him triple fold it, just making me goes 'aaawwwhh'. But with WS is not like that. He's not naturally gentle and soft. So seeing him like this is like a gift from heaven. He put so much effort and his voice is so much sexier that way.. The 'aaaawwwhhh' is triple fold. Ooohh.. This is breaking my heart! I hope they go well with the horse riding next ep.
otchosais
If Soo didn't intervened and helped So to cover his scar, it might be Yo who will continue the ritual. So he will be the gwangjong that Soo is having premonitions. Haai. Hopefully So will not be so hurt its so unfair for him
Diana Blanche
Hae Soo will not change the history but maybe she will change certain facts. I will repeat myself. We are all horrified that he killed his brothers (well, one of them, two... or his grandchildren, it doesn't matter to me. But we don't know the reason. (Treason, attempt on his life or the destruction of the unity of the country or maybe just their stupidity. Sufficient reason for those times to be killed). But we forgot about his reforms and the fact that he abolished slavery, weakened the power of the nobles (And I think that was a good move). Powerful nobles tend to divide a country depending on their interests.

Powerful nobles tend to divide a country depending on their interests. There is time when one has to kill other people in order to save one's own life or for self-protection.... Regarding the matter of the throne, the reason may just be that either you kill or you get killed... A King who is sitting on the throne can't be a King if he can't protect his own life, let alone his family, or his citizens... Hae Seo's reaction to the pictures she sees of Wang So is over the cliff. She starts saying things about Wang So in the manner that will endanger Wang So without seeing the whole story or the reason behind....
arabela
... just smiling by myself ... both of them even have the same kind of illusion: she thinks she can change history and he thinks she can only die if he gives her his permission ... as we know from the novel , both of them are wrong - she wasnt able to change history and she died without him giving her permission ... I would call it "desire" illusion - the feeling that you can change fate one of my favorite lines in this episode is "I was not manipulated. I knew and crawled into that seat" and one of my favorite scene is the hole dinner scene - I feel it shows the hole complexity of WS - the longing to be part of his family, the deep desire to be accepted and loved, the loving and kind part of him, the intelligence to realise his wishes will not come true, how fast he can understand a situation - his mother's real intention, how fast can he have a reaction and make an "attack" on her, the courage, the power to stand above his hurt feelings, the anger, the sincerity, the determination, the force of his personality, the deep of his disapointment, the cynical part, the dark side, the ambition one, the loving one, the charming part ...

Isn't king can only have one queen at the time unless the queen died or dethroned..? Now we have queen yoo and queen hwanbo together in the palace so who is hold a higher title and position since they both queen? mema
In the end it does indeed look like HS and her limited knowledge in history is going to cause infighting with the brother. I feel really exasperated that dramas, women can't be smart enough to take things slowly or not be confused or surprised or totally oblivious all the time.
iridescentmoth
I think Hae soo's reaction is justified in her consternation, albeit distressing to watch So reaction to her words. I'd be questioning my sanity if I was spontaneously having premonition and trying to reconcile with the fact I've just fell through time...which is where the inconsistency in her character becomes conspicuous to me. She had adapted remarkably well to Goryeo but it is now she falters? I can only attribute this to her growing feelings towards So. She's dismayed by her involvement, did she precipitate his ascension to throne by covering his scar? I'd be frightened too. Now her actions have consequences and she's afraid of how far those repercussions will reach. From her perspective, she reacts plausibly but as an audience member it's difficult to watch.
