Popular Post bebebisous33
Past, future and present Since this is going to be a long analysis, I am sorry but I won't add many pictures. It took too much time to write it!! I find it fascinating that the writer has unconsciously written three kind of characters: - either past-oriented - or future-oriented - or "carpe diem": the living in the present type I would say that Jung, SD and Eun are persons who are living more in the past than in the present or in the future. Some viewers found it weird that it took Eun so many years to discover that he was actually loving his wife SD. Even SD was kind of jealous of HS for a long time, as she had always thought that Eun would still prefer HS over her, until they realised their true feelings for each other during the bath. Jung is also more past-oriented because he can't forget the promise he made to HS, after she had rescued him. Moreover, he told Hae Soo that he wished to go back in the past, when Hae Soo was living with lady Hae and his brother Wook. Jung has idealised the past, just like Eun and SD. SD is even more caught in the past due to her first meeting with Eun. He was her first love and she could never forget his words. Eun kept thinking that Hae Soo was his true first love and was so blind to get aware that his wife loved him, just like he was blind to recognise his true feelings for SD. Because their past has a huge influence in their life, they are unable to live in the present and observe their surroundings or even predict the future. In the episode 13, SD feared for Eun's life, when she heard that Taejo had died. She even explained her fear to Eun: in the past, a new king would kill his siblings in order to make sure that they would not endanger his position. As we can notice here, SD is again mentioning the past. Her words reveals her wisdom (her experience based on the past) but also her flaw as she is misjudging Wang Mu's personality. Mu has always been the caring brother and she is totally oblivious of this. However, SD and Eun could have noticed that Mu was in poor health and think more about the future, yet they never did. The past influenced them so much that they were unable to plan for the future as well, since they were incapable of living in the present as well. They didn't pay attention to Wang Wook's behaviour at the court (Eun was not present), when Wang Wook started making strange demands. Only Wang So was there to criticise him. Since Eun got married, he was never shown during meetings. We barely saw him and this was no coincidence. Eun didn't care for politics. His marriage had a huge impact on him. Since he had been forced to get married, he thought, he had fulfilled his duty. That's why he didn't even show up at the event where Wang So got poisoned. First he was on his way, when he met Hae Soo. He got so upset that he returned to his place and SD was following him behind. After that, we barely saw him and his wife. This is deliberate by the writer underlining that Eun and SD started living in their own world, both living in the past: SD trying to get his attention again like at their first meeting and Eun remembering his time with HS and the pain she inflicted him. So his marriage that had happened in 942 changed him to the worst in my opinion. He was childish before but with his marriage, he didn't really become mature. He didn't show up, when Hae Soo got arrested and when she begged and this is no coincidence. Like I mentioned it before, Eun and SD secluded themselves. They didn't pay attention about the events around them at all. In the end, they didn't live in the present at all. The only time they mentioned the future was their death. They should die together and these words are really telling. Neither SD nor Eun really thought much about their future at all. They didn't worry at all. Only when Eun had to hide, the 10th prince started imagining a more concrete future. But it was too late. In my opinion, this explains why Eun and his wife SD became the first victims among the brothers. Another clue to underline that Eun was really living in the past was that he reminded Wang So about the birthday party and his present, something even Wang So had forgotten!! So like I mentioned it above, Jung is also more past-oriented. He is also similar to SD. Their similarity is underlined because they shared how they fell in love for the first time. Both talked about the past. Moreover, Jung is someone who learns through experiences, like SD. Due to his bad experience and Wang So's words, he realised he needed to grow up. Jung is maturing, but just like Eun and SD, his past makes him blind to the real causes of the tragedies. Because his family started falling apart, when Wang So showed up at the palace, he is blaming Wang So for the misfortune. Because of the past, Jung and the others are blind to recognise the truth or what is in front of them: Sure, Wang So killed Eun, but his desdain for Wang So made him forget that Yo was the real responsible. Sure, he was mad at Yo and defied him, but he really hates Wang So because before the latter appeared at the palace, his brother Yo and his mother were very nice and caring so that he had a nice picture of them. From the moment Wang So appeared, his mother and his brother Yo started acting strangely and even planning a murder in front of him. That's why he wishes to kill Wang So. He thinks that if Wang So dies, his brother Yo and Queen Yoo will behave like in the past. Since he is so focused on the past (he is idealising the past!!), he is unable to perceive Wang Wook's true personality. Notice that he becomes close to Wang Wook after the poisoning event, as he is aware that his family must be behind it and Hae Soo was the victim. As long as Wang So lives, Jung can't live near his mother, he will be confronted with the harsh reality: she is very cruel, resentful and ruthless. Therefore he decides to remain close to wang Wook as like he told Hae Soo, he wished to return to the past, when Hae Soo used to live with lady Hae and her husband Wang Wook. It was his happiest time. Wang So was not allowed to live in the palace and his stay in S. was supposed to be short. Jung remains close to Wook because of that happy time from the past. He also knows about the real relationship between Hae Soo and Wang Wook. That's why he showed Wook where Hae Soo was living in the episode 12 and he even respected Wook for that love. So the past dictated him to be considerate of his brother's feelings. However, since he had promised to Hae Soo, he would become a great man, he is also different from Eun and SD. He has to change in order to become a great man... that's why he thinks more about the future than Eun or SD. In the end, this also explains why he is more mature than Eun and SD. However, the past has such an influence on him that it makes him blind to really perceive the true personality of his brothers. Yet, when he realises that Wang Wook has given up Hae Soo (episode 12), then he also changes his behaviour: he won't support Wook for his love for Hae Soo, rather he will claim her for himself hence he tells Hae Soo in the episode 13 that she is no longer his bigger sister. He wants her to see him as a man. All this proves us that Wang Jung might be blind and would like to return to the past, but it is only partially: he wants Hae Soo as his wife therefore he asked her if she wanted to get married aso. He is definitely more future-oriented than Eun or SD. As conclusion, Jung is less past-oriented, but yet he is not able to live in the present that's why he blames Wang So for Eun's death too. He only saw Wang So killing his favourite brother, yet he forgot to see how the real events happened. - Hae Soo and Wang Wook are more the future-oriented persons, however their past has a huge influence on them as well. Wang Wook keeps making promises, but each time he fails. Promises are connected to the future. Hae Soo has always been scared of changes and in the end of the future. Hence she tries to make sure that nothing changes. Yet, she wants certain things in her life: the love and the relationships will never change. That's why she is relying so much on promises as she takes them very seriously. Moreover since she started having visions, she got even more afraid of the future. Both want to make sure that they won't lose anything (love, throne). Yet, the past had an influence on them. Since Hae Soo has experienced so many betrayals and bad experiences, she wants to forget them each time. She is trying to erase the past in the end. Thus she was always saying that she would like to forget everything. She considers the past as a burden, she doesn't want to feel guilty too. Wang Wook had a similar way of thinking. The banishment was a bad experience, yet he told his own sister Yeon Hwa that she should forget the past too. Yet he couldn't forget his first killing... however, he didn't see it as something bad. Since they are so focused on the future (making promises, like f. ex.: Hae Soo promises to Wang So that she will never change as long as he doesn't change, promise she broke a few days later!!!) that they were unable to live in the present as well hence both became victims of circumstances. After Wang Wook proposed to her, he told her he would ask for her hand one month later. Yet, he didn't get aware that his own sister was planning to ruin his plan. Wang Wook is now always planning to become king. The poisoning of Mu took two years and as such, it reveals how long Wang Wook is able to plan for the future. Well, for Hae Soo, it is a little different because after King Taejo gave her the advice She started living differently. She doesn't live in the future any longer. This also illuminates why after 2 years, Hae Soo didn't confess her love to Wang So and even tried to get married to him. She was living more and more in the present, yet too blind to notice that Mu's health was deteriorating and think about the future: who would be king and what would happen to her? Here, she made a mistake again: she was too careless so that she becomes a victim of circumstances again. - As for the third type... it is naturally Wang So! This also explains why Wang So couldn't become king before. His only goal was to be loved despise his scar and be accepted by his family. First, his carpe diem mentality comes from his experiences in his childhood. He needed to survive and as such survival is a short-term strategy. Due to that, he never really thought about the future and he always acted in the moment. Let me give an example: When Hae Soo is supposed to marry the king, Wang So had no problem to tell her to refuse to follow the order, well aware that his brothers and himself could have been really hard punished by their father. He didn't think about the consequences. Another example is the killing of the monks. He did it and hoped praise from his mother, but when he was in front of his father and admitted the crime, he had no real explanation first. Only Wang Wook was smart enough to justify his action and So confirmed it. Yet due to Hae Soo, he becomes more and more involved in politics so that he starts learning. Yet he keeps living more in the present that's why he had no problem to propose to Hae Soo, although she was only a water maid. He had to reach the bottom in order to realise that surviving is not enough, just like loving Hae Soo is not enough. When he says, he wants to become the king, he already starts planning. So he thinks about the future and he is really careful in his planning. It also takes him two years. As conclusion, he changes, just like Hae Soo has changed. She lives more in the present, less in the future based on fake promises. And now, you will ask: Yeon Hwa? I believe, she is more like Wang Wook and Hae Soo. Her past had a huge influence on her, but unlike her brother and Hae Soo who tried to forget the past, she decided to focus on the future: becoming the Queen. That's why she also doesn't live in the present. Her search for her perfect husband (to make her the Queen) takes her many years, she is still unmarried!! But I must confess, I am getting tired to write so much. I hope, it was interesting. @chi13lou @Claudia Koh @meahri_1@nonski@lavender2love@sleepingkitty @UnniSarah@adijnpu@iloveknovela @solelylurking @fathiayunia @dramu51ch0c10ve @ktcjdrama@40somethingahjumma @syeramy @littleloony @Yongzura @valsava @junee22 @evie7 Edited December 25, 2018 by bebebisous33 empty my attachment account

stevii
omygod this is so very very very late but i just had to get it out there. the director's cut for ep 1,2,3 is perfect.*just watched it* i still don't get what is the problem in the editing room that can lead to a very choppy and unprofessional editing in the first place. maybe its because of the episode reduction to 20? (coz i heard it was supposed to be 35) but .... i don't get it. what were they (whoever they are, the ones responsible, idk) thinking? even until now, the sbs version are all always better (altho after episode 6, the editing for international version is getting better and better, IMPO). and btw i am still very optimistic that this MLSHR will have a late blooming *fingers crossed* altho i never seen such a thing called "late blooming" drama hahhaha idk but this series is still too good to be missed. and i hope the "moon lovers was here" project will be a success, very happy to know that the cast are so lucky to have fans like us lol

I'll address each of your points, okay? No. 2) Preview for E07. It was a misleading edit. As shown in the International version (it didn't make the SBS cut) Evil Queen does overhear a conversation--only it's related to the CP's illness/skin condition, after Hae Soo tried to help him, and has nothing to do with the General and Wang So. No. 1) and 3). Thank you for pointing out these deleted scenes. I'd somehow overlooked these stills in the PD-Note... I don't know exactly where they would fit (i.e. in what episode)--you might have noticed, for each deleted/cut scene featured in the Compilation-PDF, I tried to identify the corresponding episode. So instead, I'm thinking I will create an end section in the PDF, an addendum if you will, where I will list missing scenes that can't be assigned to a specific episode, and also which might be considered of (relatively) lesser importance. (And by scenes of lesser importance, I mean, of course: scenes where Wang So neither appears nor is mentioned. Lol.) That okay? Thanks! Ah, sure! It's a good idea to put a separate section for missing scenes that, as I described earlier, reasonable enough to get edited out considering the number of episodes they had. And LOL, I agree without wang so appearance on the said scenes, I don't think we should frown too much on the editing part. I did not add the details about possible episode on each deleted scenes as it was too obscure to be put on specific episode, but if I could make an estimation: (1) chaeryung scenes should be appear between episode 1 to episode 5, when haesoo still lived in wook's manor; (3) go hajin back story most likely appear in episode 3 when Hae soo reminiscence about her 21st century self to lady Hae while doing her make up. I hope that helps

He will have fan-meetings after this drama ended. I think he is looking through and selecting scripts right now and his next plan is most probably a modern-day project. Oh my god, The Bride of the Water God!!! I used to read a lot, a lot of manga/manhwa back then and this manhwa is highly popular! It has one of the most beautiful art among many and such gorgeous characters. I stop reading the manhwa halfway because of drama license and the eng sub translation is slow. I actually was thinking and recalling of this manhwa recently when watching MLSHR. This manhwa has star-crossed lovers, epic love story as well but it takes fantasy at another level. It is about the most beautiful girl in the village being sacrificed to the Water God in other to stop the drought in the village. There she lives in an another world with the Gods and she and the Water God falls in love with each other. There, their tragic love story ensues... Way back when I was reading this manhwa, it feels as if I am living in another world and I am like the third-party watching everything happening. The feeling is surreal, I think I am going to pick up this manhwa again. I am not sure how they are going to spin this off to modern day Seoul. I hope Lee Joon Gi do considers this if it is fantasy genre. He seems to fit fantasy genres well. Though the thought of him acting as a majestic, beautiful, ethereal God from another world is woah-worthy. I don't think I can concentrate on the dialogue and the story. Hahahaha! Kekekeke! While I am not sure how the story will be changed, I am going to keep a look out for this drama since the writer also wrote Misaeng.
shiraru
14 hours ago, LyraYoo said: Original Soundtrack Survey, What is your top three most fave among the list? Mine are (in no particular order) : 1. EXO (Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin) - For You Gonna be honest, I like the song, but I didn't really like it for Moon Lovers; the sound is too modern for me at that time. But then I stumbled upon a translation lyrics video of it and now I'm loving it~ the lyrics matched perfectly with Wang So and Hae Soo's romance. Well, I can also argue that it may fit Wang Wook and Hae Soo too, ahahaha~ but of course, So-Soo matched better. I'll put the translaton lyrics in spoiler in case anyone wants to read it Spoiler It’s a different place, a different time But my love is right Even by your scent that passes with the wind I know it’s you but i don`t know When did you start living in my heart? i don`t know The reason my heart flutters when I see you You can pass me by Because you forgot about me Until you remember I will wait for you My love, look at me Do you still love me? My love, look at my eyes and tell me A heart full of love can’t be hidden Don’t ever forget the truth That I was by your side Don’t erase my heart That could sacrifice everything for you but i don`t know When did you start living in my heart? i don`t know The reason my heart flutters when I see you You can pass me by Because you forgot about me Until you remember I will wait for you In the same place, in the same time, we’re together You can always come to me, back to your place Lalala With you, for you My love, look at me Do you still love me? 2. Im Sun Hae - Will Be Back I...love and hate this song at the same time. I love it because it's a beautiful song. The lyrics, the singing and the melody are just so pretty! But every time this song plays in Moon Lovers, someone is definitely dying...as if a sight of someone dying is not enough, the song strengthen the sadness and despair. I'll put the translation lyrics down below if anyone wants to read it. Spoiler The fallen flowers scattered by the season Remains alone, lonely and sad The sky without the stars is sad Like the falling rain, it is crying Flowers bloom and wither, just like my heart Tell me with the wind When the first snow falls, my wish will come true I believe in that, an earnest wish If you know my longing heart Please come back to me 3. Epik High feat Lee Hi - Can You Hear My Heart? I was debating between this song and Lee Hi's "My Love", but in the end, I picked this one because even though I didn't understand the lyrics, I felt something from it when it's played in Moon Lovers; the very first make up scene. Take out the rap since I still feel it doesn't fit for historical drama (so sorry Epik High!), you got melodies that felt...sensual, I guess? Lee Hi's voice also felt strangely sultry, and I think it fits perfectly with the intimate tone of the scene. After I read the lyrics, I feel it's also perfect for Wang So and Hae Soo's current dynamic. I'll put the translation lyrics down in spoiler in case anyone wants to read it too. Spoiler Are you listening? To my voice, to this confession for you? Are you listening right now? Can you hear my heart? Like the rain drops falling on the window You enter my heart i need u i need u i i miss u I saved my words in order to forget you I tell myself that I really forgot But in the end, I’m talking about you But I need to forget that I’m trying to forget you In order to really forget you you gotta give me time, I ain’t perfect but I’m tryin’ to erase you perfectly. We came too far to turn things back But when I look back, you’re always right behind me I know I don’t think I can erase Because the memories were too perfect For the imperfect me But I try again It’s so much harder to fall out of love Than to fall in love you make me live and die again I’m not alive without you. I’m not alive without you. You know I’d die without you. Don’t forget Are you listening? To my voice, to this confession for you? Are you listening right now? Can you hear my heart? Like the rain drops falling on the window You enter my heart i need u i need u i i miss u Like a summer night shower, it falls It’ll come again, the shower of memories I think you need an umbrella I’m really worried I can see out the window The rash lights of the cars, busily going somewhere Though you already know my final destination Even if you don’t ask All of you that was always in my hands It transparently smears and my eyes get blurry with tears When I look back, I’m in the same place My heart is always heavy The footsteps of my breakup are slow If I can’t turn things around I know one way would be to accept it but I’m standing here I’m still standing here Are you listening? To my voice, to this confession for you? Are you listening right now? Can you hear my heart? Like the rain drops falling on the window You enter my heart i need u i need u i i miss u Don’t forget me ever. Never ever Don’t forget me ever. Never ever Never ever girl Don’t forget me ever. Popular Post bebebisous33
Past, present and future (part II) I would like to add something about Eun and SD. Like I mentioned it in my last comment, both are really past-oriented. This is especially underlined, when they are taking the bath. He used to make animals with towels to his brothers and sister. Notice that SD brought him his favourite toy too. Then Eun also brought her an ornament, something that belonged to her. Then when he gives her the ornament, he mentioned the exact same words like in the past, when she fell in love with him. Moreover, they behave like little children (toys, the towels, the race with the toy boats...) as if they were reliving their childhood and in the end their past. Through that experience, they come to realise that they love each other. Striking is that Eun regrets now the past: they should have lived differently! Now, he is able to focus on the present and enjoy his wife. Yet, they are so deep into that moment ("carpe diem") that they leave the place without thinking about the future. This illuminates why they forget to erase any evidence of their presence which has a fatale consequence. As conclusion, in the moment they give up on living in the past and enjoy more the present, they have changed but they are not mature enough to think about their real future. SD thinks about babys and it is really not the time. Actually, in their situation, they should think more about the future.

(coz i heard it was supposed to be 35) but .... i don't get it. what were they (whoever they are, the ones responsible, idk) thinking? even until now, the sbs version are all always better (altho after episode 6, the editing for international version is getting better and better, IMPO). and btw i am still very optimistic that this MLSHR will have a late blooming *fingers crossed* altho i never seen such a thing called "late blooming" drama hahhaha idk but this series is still too good to be missed. and i hope the "moon lovers was here" project will be a success, very happy to know that the cast are so lucky to have fans like us lol can you send me the link of ep 1-2-3 ? I think I've only watched 1 deleted scene from ep 3 when WS tells HS that she's the only person on her side
