Hmmmmm....she been steam alive till cooked(dead) in a very big steamer...by 4th..which is the king by then...that why rouxi cannot take it, oh in additional to that, 4th force every maid in the palace to watch that process, to serve as a warning to them..that is totally disgusting..

This thread is my true consolation, really. First and foremost, I'd like to extend my gratitude to everyone in this thread for recapping, screencapping, giving their two cents, or just simply being here to spazz. I know from the start that this drama is far from perfect, but its imperfections got me hooked deeper in each episode. 

Episode 14 was such bittersweet one. I'm a sucker for slow burning romance, and friends-to-lovers kinda trope. That's why Moonlovers is a winner for me because I get to see how romance slowly blooms amidst all the hindrances and heartbreaks. So and Soo officially begins their love journey, although I'm dying to know how their interaction in the past two years of time-jump. It should be at least explored a bit to give us a clue how So&Soo finally reached a mutual understanding of their feelings. It doesn't have to be with grand scenes, a simple voice over by So or Soo would be enough. But well, what's done is done.

While watching our OTP in eps 14, I could not help but wondering how lucky Soo is to be loved by So. When a hero in a drama says to his leading lady how much he loves her or how he can't possibly live without her, I'm mostly just neutral about it, if not impressed. There's no more magic in those words anymore. Until last night. In the stargazing scene, So tells Soo that he can't live without her and he asks her how long she's gonna keep him on hold, he prolly does it in a most teasing way possible, but the way he looks at her, the whole set-up, his gestures, somehow sends me this fuzzy feeling of happiness. I thought to my self, "This guy is a sick love puppy and he's never gonna be cured." and I'm just happy for him. LJK deserves all the hype and praises, he's one amazing actor who can portray any emotion so vividly. Heck, he brings the magic back to those magic words. I owe him huge.

The kiss, tho. A make up kiss is the best, isn't it? A kiss after a fight, a confirmation kiss, call it whatever, but that one kiss still makes me feel funny every time I watch it. A kiss that's been long overdue. The surprised look on his face when she initiates it, then tell him to never forget again that he loves her. I live for that enamored gaze of So. I turn into giant pile of goo instantly. 

I would be lying if I say that I'm not devastated about how short-lived their sweet moments are. It's not friggin' fair! We should at least get 10 dates and 2 bedscenes! 

The saddest part is how Soo is going to be manipulated as So's leash, to keep him tamed. As much as I hate separation as a conflict, what I would despise most is misunderstanding and prolonged noble idiocy. Please don't go there, show. Please just let them be together, in sickness and health, kicking goryeon baddies' richard simmons for the next 6 episodes.

After last night's episode, I keep asking myself whether I'll be able to watch tonight's episode.  TBH, I can't recall the last time where a K drama got me hooked and so emotionally invested in it, to a point that my daily routine revolves around MLSHR. Like literally.  It's the first thing that comes to mind when I wake up every morning and the last thing I think about before going to bed.  Heck I even dreamt of WS & HS!  I'm torn. To continue watching or not to continue?  It seems that uri OTP has a long way to go and plenty more hurdles to overcome.  Will my heart be strong enough to witness everything? It's too heart wrenching seeing the good guys gone one by one while the snakes are busy slithering inside the palace.  

To summarize how I feel, I'll be borrowing WS' lines:

Uri OTP can never catch a break.  We will probably get less and less romantic scenes and the happy scenes that we have so far are typically less than 3 minutes!!!! We have deaths and more deaths. We've had 1 'wedding' involving an uncle and his niece and soon we'll have a half sister marrying her half brother. arghhh. We need more happy pills and definitely a happy ending for WS & HS to compensate our frustration throughout this drama.

It's considered an intimed touch ... and that is still to this days

If one looks into relationships these days, than one sees, that even now holding hands is “romantic“ & it takes some nerve to slide one hand into the others

The scene of child Wang So tied up as a hostage is part of what was skipped in episode 3. Hae Soo came to his room to return his hairpin, but left when she saw him having a nightmare of his childhood. Supposedly the Chungju Yu clan and Shinju Kang clan had a feud between them (which doesn't make sense to me as they're not geographically close), so when the Yus were attacking the Kangs for some reason, they put So up there to stop their attack. It is speculated that Mu was the one that saved him then. In ep 3, So wakes up and follows Soo to the stone piles and they have a discussion on motherhood that leads to So eventually deciding on covering up his mother's plot that was added later to the rerun version of the episode in Korea. This is also why when Wang So tells Hae Soo that he'll be living in the palace, she tells him to stop having bad dreams.

No wonder I feel like I'm always missing something. This is an important development between the leads and So's backstory. This drama needed an extension to put all the parts together succinctly. If they just had 5 more episodes, that would've been enough. The rush is becoming evident.

@dears I think despite the fact that MLSHR is an adaptation from the popular original novel and TV series, its uniqueness captures us all. So on my laptop I have the uncut SBS version, eng subbed SBS version, eng subbed international version, vietsub version and possibly the vietdub version (soon). LOL

@fuyukoneko In the original, the one who wanted to marry Ruoxi (Hae Soo) was the crown prince (2nd prince in the original). I think in this drama, Yo is his counterpart but he wants Yeon Hwa though. I wonder how that will happen.

@dustdevil I sense Hae Soo has a part in the skincare routine of all the princes after seeing her facial mask and spa.

@violet90 I agree. The readers even said that TongHua's writing is not some hollow skill, but within the "aesthetics", there exists some ingenuous simplicity, gradual familiarity seeping into your soul. So in a way, like @dears said, the story captures us regardless of the flaws in editing, transitioning,... The big picture brings us together and it leaves a deep impact. So all in all, MLSHR has more beauty to it and even if the rating is low in Korea or people prefer to watch other dramas or whatever, I think it's a distinctive, exceptional and noteworthy drama that we have not seen for so long especially since it's a sageuk. Scarlet Heart or Bobogyeongsim means to slowly shock ourselves causing us to eventually doubt. I think SoSoo's love is structured in a way that its genuine, simplicity slowly steps into our hearts yet what they have to go through eventually shock themselves and making them to over-think. Something like that...

@SukBin I know. This drama will be better with more episodes but knowing SBS, they want the money in and again, we don't know the agreements made among those production companies. If they did consider this drama seriously, I don't think we'd be seeing two versions now. But at least we still get to watch MLSHR.

I think I have been blindedly addicted to this drama that I don't even bother to watch the other sageuk drama which gets the higher ratings at the same time slot. Also, the other dramas just do not seem to catch my interest and look bad compared to this drama. Why don't they give us more episodes

This scene already aired in Ep14 international version, so you should be able to see it on Dramafever. It was not in the SBS version. The DF translations of this scene is as follows:

QHB: A rebellion? Did you just say rebellion?

YH: How can you help our third brother? He will come after us once he is on the throne.

Well.. i want to hate it.. but imagine.. if because of that female.. he was forced into killing his own brother 10th prince and his wife..who were desperately trying to run away and save themeselves..and were the most innocent of the lot..

And the fact that she betrayed HS and put her in danger..

led for his other brother (1 the king) to die..

 

Well.. for a person like WS i can expect that sever a punishment

If WS does that then I would be pretty horrified but now that I think about it CR is the reason HS is being a hostage and because of that he's going to have to kill his brothers. So I don't think I'd hate him but it kind of just shows he's human.
