Lake Dongji - beautiful cinematography. They really went all out in choosing locations for this shoot. And the way the camera pans around with them walking along the side of the house is gorgeous. Plus the background music.. sets the scene really nicely.

I like to think this is one of his favourite places in the palace ''the sun rises here first'' so he's spent quite a bit of time here and is showing it to her like you would a treasured possession. His very own jewel in the palace. I wonder if they will spend time here together again in the course of the drama. I'd love it if this were the place he stashed her away from prying eyes. It would make a perfect retreat for the two of them.

'Scarlet Heart: Ryeo' stars Lee Joon-Gi, IU have zero chemistry? SBS drama fails to get good ratings

Many viewers were upset when SBS's "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo," starring IU, Lee Joon-Gi, and Kang Ha-Neul, did not meet their expectations. The historical drama premiered on Aug. 29 with national viewership ratings of 7.4 percent only.

 

"Scarlet Heart: Ryeo" has been getting attention for its A-list cast, which includes EXO's Baekhyun, Girls Generation's Seohyun, Nam Joo Hyuk, Hong Jong Hyun, Yoon Sun-Woo, Ji Soo and Kang Han-Na. The hype was so prominent that it turned into the most expensive Korean drama sold to China in spite of the rising political strain between the two countries over the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system.

 

However, as early as the fourth episode of "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo," decline in viewers was noticed, which proceeded through its seventh episode. Unfortunately, many see Lee and IU's supposed lack of chemistry as the culprit behind the show's low rating.

It is said that there is a very little progress in the romance between the 4th Prince, Wang So (Lee) and Hae So (IU) in the historical drama. Apparently, there seems to be more interest in building a relationship between Hae So and the 8th Prince Wang Wook (Kang).

 

In spite of being behind in viewership ratings, "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo" was crowned the most influential television show for the first week of September. The historical drama took the first place with a record of 294.3 total points, ruling over KBS 2TV's "Moonlight Drawn By Clouds" and MBC's "Infinite Challenge," according to CJ E&M, as cited by The Kpop Herald.

 

Helmed by Kim Kyu-Tae, "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo" follows a 21st-century woman, Ko Ha-Jin (IU), who experienced a total eclipse of the sun that sent her back in time to the Goryeo Dynasty during King Taejo's (Jo Min-Gi) reign. She found herself trapped in the body of a 16-year-old Hae Soo, who is the cousin of the 8th Prince wife, Lady Hae (Park Shi-Eun).

 

Stranded in the past, Hae Soo got acquainted with King Taejo's other sons, including the fearsome 4th prince, who hides his face behind a mask. He is given the deprecatory label "wolf dog" by the others.

 

"Through Hae Soo, viewers will be able to experience what it is like for a 21st-century person to enter the Goryeo period," a representative from the drama said in a statement obtained by Soompi. "They can enjoy watching her learn to adapt and grow."

Self-centred is probably more the word I'd be using in his case in that he tends to see things in terms of it affects him even with the best of intentions. Confessing to a girl through a poem is one thing but not thinking about how it would affect her and the people around her is another.

The reality is that Uk will pay for his indecision and for stringing Su along when he really hasn't any kind of long-term game plan. He had at least 2 opportunities to make his move prior to her being called into Damiwon. Yes, he is the head of his family, yes, he has to think about what could happen if he acted rashly. So why is he whispering sweet nothings into the ear of a girl who has been lurching from one crisis to another? If he so nervous about getting involved in a scandal that will affect the his family's status then he should not be making these grand gestures to a palace maid. It's a classic case of wanting the cake and eating it too. He likes how she makes him feel undoubtedly but he doesn't like her enough to take really big chances to be with her. He gives her a bracelet to tie her to him but so far their relationship is still very hush-hush.

It's fine if at the end of the day he has other priorities. I don't blame him for indecision if he stops actively courting Su. Everyone has to make these kinds of choices and it may not be a right or wrong one. But it's ethically dodgy to make promises to a vulnerable girl that you aren't even sure you can keep.

I need to know what Uk is willing to give up to be with Su. He may not think that being with her is a zero sum game so why is he hesitating? Obviously he knows in his heart that something's got to give somewhere. 

As a mother of girls myself, I feel quite protective about Su especially when she thinks she's found the love of her life.

I forget again who posted the lyric of HSs song at Euns birthday (barely keep up to this thread)..I know,and all the viewers know that HS sing that song especially for WW..even though she sang it to all princes..but is it possible that WS will misunderstand that song is dedicated to him?plus HS said to WS at the cottage that she's not alone..there's WS with him..and plus..HS took off WSs mask and cover up his scar with make up. So I'm guessing he'd misunderstand those as positive signs from HS to pursue her?I don't know..that's only my opinion though .

When it comes to love, Wook is just as obssesive possesive as WS. 

As to will he join Yo or not to dethrone CP in this vers, I'm not so sure. I'm thinking he will likely to stay in the grey area, spinning his web. If at that time HS is already taken by So and So sided with CP, he will choose Yo side naturally. But I got a feeling it was So who will double cross CP as he seek more power. He needs to gain more trust from YoYoo side if he wants to become King. Tbh Yo is easier to kill without ally. 

Why do I say So will double cross CP? We can romanticized him as much as we want when it comes with HS but let's face it: that guy is ruthless and ready to sacrifice almost anyone to survive because that's what he has been taught all his life. 

Now that I have watched all the episodes over again and the FMVs with SoSoo interactions, I am not sure that So is going to be obsessive possessive of Soo  because deep inside he will always let her choose her own path and her own love and maybe that is why the misunderstandings and sad breakup may occur at the end. Wook on the other hand is the obsessive possessive type, he already thinks of her as his person but he doesn't really know her and she presents a very different face to him than to So, a young girl that needs his protection and care. I don't think he truly loves Soo, it also seems like a crush on his part but he thinks of her now as an extension and replacement for Lady Hae and he won't like having Soo taken away from him. 

As for So double crossing CP, I don't think that will ever happen.  He will be loyal to those he cares about, he even protected his mother who hates him.  I was thinking about her premonition when she passed out after cutting herself. I think there were 3 deaths, the king, the CP and Yo, and that is why she remembered the 4th king Gwangjong who was ruthless and purged his enemies, but she doesn't know which one of them will be him which is why her eyes settled on Wook, because So's scar eliminates him from the throne.  I think that is why she will try to help So win the crown and change history but unknowingly making history instead.

It looks to me like Hae Soo is crying. The way she is burying her head and closing her eyes, I have the impression that something must have happened to her so that she ends up crying. Maybe it is related to the confrontation with Queen Yoo where she is mistreated by her. In my opinion, Wang So must have heard about it and knew that he is the reason why she was hurt. Therefore he rushed to meet her. But look at his face: he is also sad and hurt as well. This could also explain why Wang Wook might witness the scene as well. He must have heard about it. Imagine his reaction, when he sees this. Wang Wook could never hug Hae Soo the same way, there was always a distance between them. 

I took this picture from @MAROSA_JIN. I hope, you don't mind, my dear. I have the impression that he is kissing her forehead. If so, this could be compared to this situation: 

There are so many differences:

- the time: day vs. night (reinforcing the idea that WS-HS is the real OTP due to the title: Moon lovers, meeting during the night)

- the posture: Hae Soo is sitting on a chair, while Wang Wook on the table. So she is much lower than Wang Wook, which reflects her actual situation. She is just a court lady, while he is a prince. In the other picture, they are both standing implying that they are both equal in their relationship. She gives him advice, just like he does. She helps him, just like he does. On the other hand, with Wang wook Hae Soo is asked to wait, she is the one who is now dependant of Wang Wook to change her situation.

- the table is between Wang Wook and Hae Soo, that's why I say that there was always a distance between WW and HS. Wang Wook is only putting his arm on her shoulder, while Wang So is hugging Hae Soo entirely.  

- the weather: in the second picture, it is a sunny day as if their couple would share only good time and try to avoid the unpleasant things. On the other hand, it is raining when Wang So and Hae Soo meet. The rain implies some sadness, as if they are sharing their distress and sadness which reinforces the idea that this couple will share the good and bad times together.

If Wang Wook sees this scene, imagine his jealousy because he tried so many times to come closer to her (he succeeded to hug her once in the episode 7), yet he sees that Wang So is also so close to her, so that his relationship with Hae Soo is not so unique anymore. With his promises, Wang Wook will realise that he can't keep asking her to wait. So this might push Wang Wook to come into actions which I am eager to see.

Here again, there is no guarantee that my speculations are correct. Nonetheless I hope, you had fun reading this post.

so here my analysis.....as we can see HS is all about to melt in his arms  (that was my firt impression but now after looking at pic from all possible angles i think she seems to be sad or dejected..something must have happend and WS is trying to giver her support by HUGGING her...)...her face buried in his chest...and he is looking *sorry cant read it* just lost in dreams imagining what can happen here...

and it calls for a party finally our ship is about to sail...and in such a way...

Happened to chance upon your frenetic post the first instance I came online. Dear ...... I don't think it's the time for babies....... there's a kingdom to fight for , lurking enemies, jealous queens, quelling rebellious fractions and many many unresolved issues.  Also there's a code for consorts, numerous concubines to wait for the royal court's procedure of presenting the king with " turns ' for the night.... all subjected to political pressures of clans.

Also ... I think they can't get " married " in the true sense because of the vetting board of history preservation. That's why in the C-version, Rouxi never married the king so she wasn't subjected to "roll call " for spending the night with the king. For that matter she wasn't buried either because it was historically not a fact. She was cremated so there is no body to prove the distortion of history.

i think I can emphasise with you if you really meant , together with the collective hundreds of us to see a consummation of two very good looking people. Don't let me be a wet blanket..... I'm the last to douse a fire of passion. The picture of the lovers are PULSATING !!!

I also tend to get the 2 dynasties mixed up because the first king of each dynasty was called Taejo "The Great King" to indicate the beginning of a dynasty I believe.

On the other hand, her action has terrible consequences: the struggle among the princes will increase and she will become the target of Yoo and Yo. Actually, she wants the opposite the entire time: the princes should stay close to each other and not grow apart. Hae Soo is here selfless, but it has bad consequences either.

1. Sure, the poem was only for Hae Soo. But it could have been found in her room, since Hae Soo didn't have it with her the entire time. Servants could have wondered and Yeon Hwa could have seen it. Remember, Yeon Hwa is responsible for the household. She is the one who sends servants and takes care of the room. Yeon Hwa could have recognised the handwriting of her brother. Okay, it didn't happen, yet giving a poem was a bold move, especially because of the meaning. On the other hand, when his wife asked him to take care of Hae Soo and imply to marry her, he didn't dare to do it. He felt embarassed and remorseful but polygamy is back then totally normal. So what did he want to achieve with his poem? Only flirting with Hae Soo? If so, then he is really selfish. If not... then why not marry her? To me, there is a certain inconstency in his behaviour.

2. On the other hand, Wang Wook spent a lot of time with her alone: the walk to the pharmacy, he even touched her neck at the pharmacy and he could have been seen by the owner; then he went to her room during the night twice, he could have been seen by the servants so that the talk could have started. As for the bridge situation, he made it obvious that something was wrong because he left the scene, when the servants and his sisters arrived. Even his sister noticed that something between HAe Soo and his brother was going on. So people could have noticed something too and gossip could have started.

3. As for Baek Ah, I agree that Wook came later, but he heard the reproach but he didn't stop Baek Ah from leaving and he didn't try to talk to Baek Ah in order to take the blame. He should have apologised to Baek Ah for his conduct, but he didn't do anything. He let Hae Soo to get scolded, while he was the one who initiated the flirting. Baek Ah knew perfectly that Hae Soo was not the guilty one as she had shown him the poem and she had no clue about the meaning.

Finally, I would like to say that reading a different point of view is interesting for me because it makes you question your own judgement. However, we shouldn't get too emotional.

 

I wrote this long post countering all your points but my page hanged and crashed, leading me to loose it all then I realized it was for the best. Nothing I say will change your perception of him. People always see what they want to. Everything he does or says will be twisted into whatever the person perceives and wants to believe. BTW thanks, had no idea that asking someone to understand WW's POV was me being too emotional. Anyway lesson learned, hopefully someone will make separate topics for both the couples soon. Oh and FYI even WS has put HS's reputation on the line by being alone with her and coming to find her in the Damiwon(?) Place where anyone could have seen them together. Please don't quote my post anyone. I don't intend to come here again. Ciao.
