TheaN
Will 'Awl' Be The New 'Misaeng?'A drama about surviving in a cruel and difficult workplace did not seem a likely bet at gaining viewer attention but last year's cable drama "Misaeng" won both praise, ratings and awards. The drama about a temporary worker doing everything he could to attain a permanent position caught on with young workers who knew what it was like to struggle to get ahead. TheaN
Episode 1 sets the foundation for us to understand Lee Soo In's make-up as an individual. It starts in the present with several flashbacks into the past. He has experienced difficulties throughout his life, at home, in the military, in school, at the military academy. He is quiet and tries to stay to himself, but he cannot let injustice go without stepping in.source: http://entertain.naver.com/read?oid=109&aid=0003185726&lfrom=twitterAs expected the drama follows the webtoon very closely. The actors all look like their comic counterparts. Even the younger Lee Soo In could have been a younger Ji Hyun Woo. When he speaks out for another kid being bullied, he is the one who ends up in the teacher's office, getting beaten with the stick. Eventually his Mom submits to the pressure and discreetly makes a "donation".He speaks out at an assembly at the military academy. I believe he disagreed with some action they were being told to do. Though some cadets support him with clapping, he ends up getting his room trashed and porn planted. I don't think the broken leg was on purpose. It looked like he was just distracted, though I could be wrong.Article and clip: http://entertain.naver.com/read?oid=437&aid=0000095744&spi_ref=m_entertain_twitterdirect link to clip: http://tvcast.naver.com/v/581891source: http://chicnews.mk.co.kr/article.php?aid=144569451974945006
TheaN
There is a segment of his army life. Looks like he is on guard duty and almost shoots another soldier. He gets angry, but I'm not sure what goes on here. It also looks like he was planning on a career in the military.http://home.jtbc.joins.com/Clip/VodClipView.aspx?vod_file_id=VO10083369

imbestigador007
The ratings are out, and look! Awl's pilot rating surprised me! While I predicted that it will definitely get at least 1%, I have never expected that it will get higher than that, considering the ratings of most recent JTBC Dramas. Besides, It is the 10th most watched General Cable Program yesterday according to AGB Nielsen! Hooray!
imbestigador007
The series is also trending on Daum:and Naver.
louisawatson
OST is great! i think it's Dong-Hyub's actor who sang it.I'm so excited for Yesung. can't wait to see how Gang-Min, Joon-Chul, and Dong-Hyub's relationship would develop farther.i'm glad that in ep1, drama gives us background to Soo-In, the main, without being boring. it's always important to set up the main character, especially when we have only 12 episodes.most importantly, so far i like Soo-In! =Dthe episode 2 preview was so much WOW.do they have English sub for AWL yet? i hope viki gets it licensed. TheaN
Good ratings for a cable drama. Hope it's heading even higher. These boys provided some great comic relief from the intensity.

Love1403
Who is the actor playing young Lee Soo In in school? His voice and eye expressions reminds me of Yeo Jingoo. But I searched everywhere and I couldn't find who the actor is. Same with the actor who played Lee Soo In's dad, who is he? He looks like a veteran actor and familiar, like I've seen him in some movies or something but I can't remember it.

I'm looking forward to more of Ahn Nae Sang's scenes!! As expected from the 'Old Miss Diary' directorNate1. [+501, -6] The webtoon itself is also a work of art.
