Top 2 Finalists on “K-Pop Star 5” Revealed

Season 5 of “K-Pop Star” will soon be coming to a close! On the April 3 broadcast of the SBS audition program, the Top 2 were chosen among the remaining finalists.

During the live broadcast, Lee Si Eun, Lee Soo Jung, Ahn Ye Eun, and Mazinga S all put on impressive performances, but unfortunately Lee Si Eun and Mazinga S were eliminated. Lee Soo Jung and Ahn Ye Eun will be moving on to the finals next week.

Lee Soo Jung has been favored as a finalist ever since the show started, with her rendition of “Lies” early on. In the April 3 episode, she performed Park Jin Young’s “The House You Live In.” Park Jin Young himself felt that she didn’t live up to her potential, but Yang Hyun Suk and Yoo Hee Yeol agreed that she effectively revived the feeling of the original.

Ahn Ye Eun, by contrast, struggled early on with individuality but has been gaining confidence since making it to the Top 10. She sang the self-penned track “Pushover” on the latest episode, and again Park Jin Young felt that she did not perform as well as she could. Yoo Hee Yeol expressed admiration at her self-composition.

“K-Pop Star 5” will likely hold their final competition next week as Ahn Ye Eun and Lee Soo Jung battle it out for the crown.

Who won 'K-Pop Star 5' and where did they decide to sign with?

After weeks of burning competition, 'K-Pop Star 5' has finally come to an end!

The last two contestants up against each other were Lee Soo Jung and Ahn Ye Eun. Lee Soo Jung actually sang Ahn Ye Eun's self-composed "Stick-er" while Ahn Ye Eun showed off her own composed "Say It". Lee Soo Jung became the first contestant in 'K-Pop Star's history to receive a perfect 300, and she ended up winning the competition!

She chose to go to Yoo Hee Yeol's Antenna Music, reasoning, "It was so nice working with him, and he's a genius."

Yang Hyun Suk Takes Hat Off for First Time in 5 Years on “K-Pop Star 5″

The last two competitors of SBS‘s “K-Pop Star 5,” Ahn Ye Eun and Lee Soo Jung, stood on stage once more on the April 10 broadcast of the show in order to determine the final winner of this season.

Before the final competition began, MC Jun Hyun Moo pointed out, “Since it’s a special day, Yang Hyun Suk has taken his hat off. Is that his real hair?”

Yoo Hee Yeol admired the new hair, saying that he believed Yang Hyun Suk had gotten double-jaw surgery at first. He added, “I thought he was G-Dragon,” teasing his fellow judge. Meanwhile, Park Jin Young joked, “It’s not G-Dragon, but more like hair that was grown in his backyard.”

Shy from all the attention, Yang Hyun Suk commented, “I took my hat off once during season one. Since it’s the first time in five years without it, I’m really embarrassed.”

Winner of “K-Pop Star 5″ Takes Victory With Perfect 300-Point Performance

The winner of “K-Pop Star 5” has been crowned!

Two final contestants, Lee Soo Jung and Ahn Ye Eun, took to the stage on April 10 for two final rounds to determine the winner.

For the first round, Ahn Ye Eun performed a self-composed song entitled “Say Something.”

The judges praised Ahn Ye Eun’s unique style and her persistence in making it through the competition with original songs. Park Jin Young, Yoo Hee Yeol, and Yang Hyun Suk awarded Ahn Ye Eun 92, 97, and 95 points, respectively, for a total of 284 points.

Lee Soo Jung then took to the stage and performed Kim Kwang Jin’s “Letter.”

Yoo Hee Yeol expressed that the performance left him a bit wanting, but was a good display of her singing character. He awarded her 93 points. Yang Hyun Suk and Park Jin Young both gave 92 points, Park Jin Young saying that she did well portraying an emotion she’s not used to singing, and that she’s improved a lot. Lee Soo Jung’s points came to a total of 277 after the first round.

Round two saw the two singers trade songs that they had sung throughout the competition. Ahn Ye Eun sang Stevie Wonder’s “Part Time Lover,” and Lee Soo Jung sang Ahn Ye Eun’s original song, “That Day, That Night.”

The judges once again praised Ahn Ye Eun’s unique qualities. Yoo Hee Yeol said, “I’ve never seen a contestant like [you] make it to the finale. There are definitely people that will not like your style, but you have your strengths. You know how to move people.” Ahn Ye Eun received a total of 296 out of 300 points from the judges.

Lee Soo Jung then followed up with something never before done by any contestant, receiving perfect scores all around from the judges, a first for any contestant on “K-Pop Star”! Yoo Hee Yeol said that she made the song her own, while Yang Hyun Suk joked that she may not like the score that he gives her.

In the end, totaling the judges’ scores — accounting for 60 percent of the final score — and viewers’ votes — accounting for the remaining 40 percent of the score — Lee Soo Jung took the Season 5 “K-Pop Star” crown, and chose Yoo Hee Yeol’s Antenna Music as her new home.

Lee Soo Jung Shares a Photo With New Roomies

Lee Soo Jung, winner of K-pop Star 5, moves into Antenna Music dormitory and shares a photo.

On Tuesday, April 19th, a photo of Lee Soo Jung moving into the female dormitory of Antenna Music was shared on the agency’s official SNS.

The photo showed fellow Antenna Music artists Lee Jin Ah and Kwon Jin Ah welcoming the new family member with bright smiles. A cute and thoughtful homemade Welcome sign can be seen behind the girls who already look at home together with their two pets.

When asked by Lee Jin Ah about how she was feeling, Lee Soo Jung responded with, “I am so happy. And I am so happy to be living with my very close friends.”
