basketballover
You would think that such a big company would have a better finance department.... someone teach these people how to use an excel spreadsheet for their business. Seriously, they learned nothing from JYJ's case.

Seriously, they learned nothing from JYJ's case. That's where you are mistaken. They have a GREAT finance department. How else would you have a group that sells a million hard copy CD's and sells out everywhere they go for two years and convince their members they are due 8600 bucks. Guest kpopmonsteryong
All these talking that SM Entertainment blurs the line of fairness. Bottomline is that Luhan, with the result of the work that he did, was not properly compensated what he is due. I am not an EXO fan, in fact I don't care for them. But the injustice I saw in this article is too much- bec. although I dont follow EXO, I know how BIG they are. I was always fidgeting in award shows bec. I want BIG BANG to win, EXO is a great contender even though they are- new. SM though. WOW.
samanatha_xyooj
Wow, IDK how these idols do it- living with just ($8,400 (gross income) divide 2 yrs divide 12 months = $350 allowance per month) and that’s only if they get paid but again it’s by commission. Is that why Jackson in “Roommate” stated that he just got paid but only bought a few things at corner store and he is broke again. I also recalled that Shinwa was on a TV show talking about their struggles during training days that they were broke and had to drive broken van to places… it sure takes A LOT of sacrifice to get where they are today…. purplepanda
If that's true that he only received $8400 in two years, that is crazy! I'm also curious--supposedly Tao had some super expensive car that he was trying to sell a few months ago (I read the article here on Soompi http://www.soompi.com/2015/05/10/taos-luxury-car-up-for-sale-in-korea/)--how could Tao afford a car like that? Or maybe that wasn't his car?
Toan
Is it that hard for the court to order SM to release EXO earning and SM investment toward EXO's members? It should be easy to determine each individual's annual income and compare it against what they actually get paid. Then you can see whether it's contract violation or not I mean I can careless about EXO but this whole drama is just going nowhere.

Hi Toan, Actually the court has ordered SM to release financial records. However, SM refuses, preferring to pay the fine instead. They pulled the same stunt in the battle with Yoochun, Jaejoong and Junsu. I believe their penalty was between 3 and 6 billion ₩. Pennies actually. They'll never produce those records because it will show what Luhan is alleging.

In other koreaboo article I saw today SM claims to have evidence ready to deliver. I'm playing devil's advocate here but I don't see how they'd (SM) bother fighting a loosing battle if they are really doing some shady stuff since it'll either exposed their practices through all court orders or received a penalty that is most likely going to be more than what Luhan seeks in the first place. Weird decisions

Weird decisionsIt is what SM says all the time. I am speaking about this court order. The court has already ruled that the amount that SME wants for contract termination is unreasonable. What will more than likely happen is it will get whittled down to a number that Luhan will be amenable to paying.....but now he has hit them with an embezzlement suit. SM has to present records in order to win. If they don't the court will make SM pay Luhan. It's almost laughable to read that SM says EXO wasn't making a profit. This is a group that put the agency in the black in months rather than years. And their attorney saying "he knew the terms of the contract" more or less means *we're not paying him until WE decide he's paid off the money it took to train him.*
