i've just finished watching MG1&2. the first season was good.

the second season annoyed me ;

i hate the whole amnesia/following in love with another girl plot.

I download MG 1 coz I want 2 watch it again hehe....I think Jerry as Dao Ming Si/Domyouji is much better looking than Matsu Jun hehe

i hated part 1 so i never bothered. plus, i didn't like jerry yan in part 1 at all. his character annoyed the sh.t out of me with his whole temper and such. i love part 2. i wanted lei to end up with shan cai while jerry to end up with the other girl. overall, it's an alright series.

I've only watched half the series and I'm sad that I'm getting bored at times..maybe I spoiled myself by watching Boys Over Flowers first..I know the Taiwanese version could've been better made but I suppose they were on a budget constraint or something? It just looked hasty and sloppy..especially since F4 was supposed to be the richest and most powerful clique at their university, the only rich/extravagant element featured was probably DaoMingSi's house. And the casting for all the female characters..do not get me started..only Shancai was decent looking.

(OK I know looks aren't EVERYTHING..but it's a drama. c'mon!)

All riiiight...enough complaining =X Sorry I just had to rant..since I know Taiwan could've done so much better..but then again it was made like, 9 years ago? So they probably didn't realize what a huge phenomenon it would be and just filmed it and put it together..I give them props for being the first remake of the manga though...at least it was a success. Good soundtrack too.

MG1 was the first TW drama I saw and that was two years ago. I didn't bothered watching MG2, since so many people didn't like the amnesia plotline. My fave character is Lei. That's how my love for Rui began.

it's ironic that i don't ever recall the first one, but i think i did watch the sequel of MG on tv when i was a kid, lol. my favorite character is Lei as well~ which is probably the reason i didn't give up on MG2, no matter how lame it was

ermm...the japanese did the first remake of hyd actually way back in 1995.it was a movie though not a drama.

Among all the versions of HanaDan, i think the taiwanese version is the best, it didn't feel rushed and the characters had a little more time to be actually 'lovers' , if you know what i mean. I've always loved Jerry Yan's portrayal of Daoming Se, he's so ill-tempered but cute haha

now, BOF is now popular here in the philippines, a lot of fans are requesting that the whole casts visit here...

Since like many others, MG is the first asian drama I watched, and is the reason I'm so hooked on k, j and tdramas right now, I also would like to contribute to this discussion.

I agree that the whole MG2 story line is horrible, and a MAJOR mistake. I still cannot understand to this day, WHY would they actually decide to film the sequel as a melodrama when MG1 was so lighthearted and funny despite all the serious themes. They totally killed DMS's lovable character and made SC such a crybaby, it just spoiled everything.

The amnesia bit is actually from the manga, but the manga version is nothing as tragic. In fact it was almost funny because in the manga DMS remembers everyone except SC. And the YS character also exists, as a fellow patient in the same hospital. However even though the YS character fell for him, DMS NEVER fell for her. Initially he felt that maybe she was somehow important to him getting his memory back (because he ate a bento that SC left for him, that gave him a familiar feeling, but YS claimed that she made it for him). But later she makes him another bento, and he took a bite and knew she lied to him and threw the whole thing back at her. I loved that scene! So in the manga even though he had amnesia, his personality never changed and he never fell hopelessly in love with someone else like in MG2. And he finally gets his memory back, when SC accidently hits his head with a baseball that she was returning to him (with a box full of other memories they had together). <img src="http://cdn.vanillaforums.com/soompi.vanillaforums.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

So many years later, and I still wish someone told me "don't watch meteor garden II"...

SOOOOO FRUSTRATING...

For a whole 24 episodes, DMS couldn't remember who the love of his life was, and fell for this other character....for 30 episodes he was with the other girl... and couldn't own up to his feelings for SC until the other girl decides to finally GTFO...

The script writers/ producers of MG2 totally butchered the whole 道明寺/杉菜 relationship for me.

Understandable that he didn't do everything he could to be with SC while he had amnesia, but when he left with YS to "travel the world" because she was sad and dying... I was like, WHERE DID THE REAL DAOMINGSI GO? Because he would have gone back to ShanCai in a heartbeat (and wouldn't have actually fallen for the other girl in the first place)... Like in the manga and every other remake/version of this show... OMFG THE FRUSTRATION.

Yes, five years later and I'm still fuming over this...

Must watch Meter Garden 1 again ♥ And remind myself of the real 道明寺♥
