Compared to Western culture and ideals it's much, much, much more frown upon since this kind of thing opens the floodgates for discrimination lawsuits. I would say that in South Korea, it's “nothing new” since they openly ask for age, gender, etc and even force applications to attach a photo of themselves although that may be slowly changing. I'm more outrage that the pay is so low. It's 2 hours a day. Did you think they were going to be paid an exorbitant amount for being pretty?
