Do they even have control of that or is it just an algorithm like the rest of the site? I mean, the images are out there, so they're going to come up sometimes in a search.

Google needs to change that, period. I'm so certain they CAN do it. OMG

Google isn't like Wikipedia, it's not a static image or even a set of static images, it's a direct link to their image search and changes dependent upon an algorithm. I just searched for him on Google Korea and got NONE of the photos seen in his screen capture. And, no, the images of the funeral weren't "removed"; the images he is upset about (and more) are still out there, they're just not relevant enough to their algorithm currently to be placed high enough to come up as the first images (which is what shows when you do a search like that). It's not just them either, all the photos shown in his screen capture are no longer coming up - they change, this is how it works.

Sure, in all technicality, they could set it to only display one specific image like Wikipedia does, but that would require a complete and drastic change to how their whole system operates (coding is nowhere near as simple as "just change one line here and we're good!"). Do you really think they're going to spend (probably) billions and redesign everything just because one person had a few upsetting photos come up when they did a search? I know it's upsetting for him on a personal level, and he's welcome to voice his opinion about it, but it's not going to change anything. So long as the pictures are out there and they somehow become a relevant trend, there is a chance they will appear.
