Kang Ho Dong and PD Na Young Suk Planning to Reunite Old “1 Night 2 Days” Cast in New Variety Show

“Three Meals a Day” producer Na Young Suk and MC Kang Ho Dong are in talks to create a new variety show that may reunite the cast from the “1 Night 2 Days” golden age.

Producer Na Young Suk told news outlet OSEN, “I don’t know when but I want to launch [the show] as soon as possible. It will be an outdoors variety show. I meet Kang Ho Dong and Lee Seung Gi on a regular basis. We talk about getting the ’1 Night 2 Days’ members back together some time.”

Kang Ho Dong’s side stated, “He did meet with Producer Na Young Suk and they are planning a new program. There isn’t a set agenda yet, but they do plan on reviving the ’1 Night 2 Days’ team.”

Lee Seung Gi’s agency responded, “He did receive a love call, and he is currently considering it optimistically. He hasn’t been informed about the program’s format or anything like that.”

If Kang Ho Dong and the rest of “1 Night 2 Days” members reunite, it will be the first time in four years that they will be doing a program together.

tvN announced on July 16 that Na Young Seok PD will show a new form of variety program this fall through internet contents ‘신서유기’ (SinSeoYuGi, 新西游记, New Journey to the West).

‘SinSeoYuGi’ production team said, “Currently, Kang Ho Dong and Lee Seung Gi have confirmed to appear in the show. We are still discussing with Lee Su Geun and Eun Ji Won regarding the possibility of their appearance.”

The production team continued, “We’ve met with Kang Ho Dong and Lee Seung Gi over a long period of time, and have talked about new forms of program and new challenges, etc. We have a mutual understanding to make a new form of ‘internet digital contents’ instead of TV broadcasts.”

‘SinSeoYuGi’ is a variety program that takes place in the outdoors. Details like concept and platform are still in the planning stage.

A representative from tvN confirmed the seasoned producer's endeavor at a new program with a statement that went, "PD Na Young Suk is working on a new program after the succession of the 'Flowers' series and 'Three Meals a Day.' This coming fall, he will showcase a new format of variety using internet [as the medium]." 

 

The new program, the details of concept, and platform of the show are still in the planning stages. The only certain thing about the upcoming show is that it will be filmed outdoors. What's more interesting is that this new show will see the reunion of Kang Ho Dong and Lee Seung Gi, who have proved themselves a fantastic duo in the world of variety. 

 

The production crew stated, "We invested [in the show] as a new format that will broadcast on the internet instead of TV. New tvN variety program ‘New Journey to the West’ to film in China

It has been revealed that all-new tvN variety program ‘New Journey to the West‘ which will be the next ambitious project by Na Young Suk PD, will film in China next month.

A representative said, “‘New Journey to the West’ will film in China. We had actually been continuously discussing about a location since last week, and the final decision was made to go to China. Filming will begin in early August, and we are looking at a premiere in late August or early September.”

As for whether it will enter the Chinese market, a program representative stated, “We are currently preparing in many areas, but nothing has been decided.”

Meanwhile, the new program will reunite Kang Ho Dong, Lee Seung Gi, Lee Soo Geun, and Eun Ji Won who all previously starred in KBS 2TV ‘One Night Two Days.’

Na Young Seok PD’s new variety program ‘New Journey to the West’ is holding the first meeting of the members.

 

A CJ E&M official told Sports Chosun on July 23, “Na Young Seok PD is meeting with NJttW members Kang Ho Dong and Lee Seung Gi today.”

 

The official explained, “You could call it the first meeting regarding NJttW, but it’s just a simple private meeting over a meal. Because it’s a personal appointment, there’s no plan to film it.”

 

S/he added, “Lee Su Geun and Eun Ji Won’s appearance in the show is still in the stage of discussion, so I don’t know if they’ll attend, but as it’s a personal meeting, it’s possible that they will all gather together.”

 

‘New Journey to the West’ is an outdoor variety program, and Na Young Seok PD has a mutual understanding with 1N2D original members Kang Ho Dong and Lee Seung Gi. It’ll be released on the internet in the new form of ‘internet digital contents,’ not as TV broadcasts. Filming will take place in China in early August. Simultaneous internet broadcasting in Korea and China in late August ~ early September is still under consideration, and detailed schedules are also under discussion.

7/21 update: SeungGi’s performance has been cancelled due to certain circumstances. (I guess that means he’ll be in China filming the new variety show on August 8.)

Yes, I want airport pics too, but maybe they'll go quietly. I doubt they can go completely quite. There must be people who see them filming together in airport and will take pics... but I want HQ fanpics *greedy*

I think at first I read it was 5 days filming, then I read a week filming? Looks like they haven't released the exact time too.
