I haven't watched eps 60 and 61 yet coz been so busy lately. Gotta catch up everything on the weekend. 

Hope dad will come in the last eps. It's disappointing but it's better than no dad ast all. So silly!

@doctor23b, it'd be nice if they had until Monday as their last episode.  I know it's ending soon and today they've met the original projected ending for this drama, but there's still a few things they need to resolve and I think another 2 days, at a minimum, would get them there.  So hopefully the person who posted that is correct!

Yeap, it only makes sense to end it on next Monday. They have the closure event on Sunday with all the cast ( not sure is father attending? ) So they cannot end the show on Friday ( it would be weird ), they will leave the mega climax till Monday. Guess they would go all out to advertise BitterSweet at the Meet The Fans session to catch the last episode and hopefully break ratings on Monday itself!

Sigh, I am so attached to this drama that it is like actual comfort food for me whenever I reach home from work or school. This drama actually warms my heart.. I am so sad it is going to end esp when momo and anjie starts to get playful with each other T_T

So... do we think they'll end with showing the family in a happy place, or do we think they'll do a time jump to give a little glimpse into each family member's life?  

Oh!  And I remembered what I was going to say about yesterday's episode (69) -- what was up with the scary French Maid outfit that the maid was wearing at Ai Meixin's house?  Egads!

*sniffs*  Tracy Chou just posted a picture on FB with her, Wen, and Momo.  She said they just finished filming their last scene in their bedroom.  Wah!  Don't end, drama.  Can't you just keep going on (preferably with dad back in the picture)?

Just finished ep 71 ~ I hate it when they dont make the moment when they shift from friends/collegues to a couple clear. Like for AJ and MM there was no confirmation from the side of MM but I assume it was on the day when she spent the day tgt with AJ on the day she would out abt her mum that she returned the feelings for AJ? coz after that their scenes tgt are all lovey dovey (eg the cake scene) but because they did make it clear I couldnt really enjoy the scene coz I wasnt sure of their r/n anyways haha I think it's just me so I am glad that it's all cleared up in today's ep when all the people ard AJ and MM said they were dating. Same goes for AMX and SH there was no scene which clearly showed the shift in r/n status. 

Anyways, it was really cute how nai nai and the empress kept praising AJ today ~ and I love and agree with whatever the empress said about love and relationships I totally agree that there is a tendency to mistake true love as keeping the one u love restricted . However, a true relationship is when you dont hold the other person down but instead is their pillar of strength for them to grow. I am glad that the empress pointed out to AJ. He really has a tendency to do that, seeing as how easily jealous he gets haha, and having the empress point that out for him will definitely allow him to go the long distance with MM. Though I am sure MM pretty much have things under control see as how she made him promise the three things in the previous ep.

HAHAHA, THAT MAID OUTFIT HAHAHAH. I was perturbed by it as well. Isn't it awkward that they had to keep on raising their glasses to have it refill. But what i found more weird was the shape of the decanter. What a weird shape to have the decanter in. Point of decanter is to let more air expose to the wine yet the decanter is in the shape of a swan.. 

 

I guess xiang xiang is not going to be very happy tonight. The cinematography for the preview was rather cool i think.

Gah. So many pics on FB and instagram with messages which, if I'm interpreting correctly, are indicating that they've finished filming.  *heartbreaking*

Looks like dad is back too - FINALLY.  Just in time for the last hour. 

ETA: Hahahaha, someone posted a message on FB about the dad coming back and then added a picture of Peng Chen You yelling his favorite phrase, "Xiang Dang Hao!" underneath.  Made me laugh and had to share it with the only people who'd understand my amusement.

I found the OST that was playing in today's ep it's by Magic Power (my fave band hehe) there's no MV but there's a clip from their concert ~ the song is so sweet gosh ~

Yeap, that song is so sweet. " You are the love of my life.. '' 

It fits so many occasion in this drama. It could be used on the siblings themselves and can be used upon on father or woody uncle or even any other and most importantly their +1 !

Hope xiang xiang's mother is well. But I've seen in the preview that skinny commented '' xiang xiang is so handsome ! '' That would mean so much to us viewers, knowing that he did attend the riding parade. 

I was in the military previously, same as Xiang and Hao, enlisted into it. When we were doing our last parade, for our families and friends who would be coming to see us in our formal attire the last time we are in active service. We practiced so damn hard under the sun and rain just to present ourselves in our best condition to our loved ones. 

So i could understand why Hao and the rest are so persistent in Xiang participation. It's about the hard work and getting through with the parade together with everyone else no matter what role you play in. 

I am so glad things turned out so fine for everybody, even pighead might have found his true love whom is his junior from the same college back in the states. 

I've seen facebook comments that the new 8pm blockbuster starts on wednesday! Would this mean that another 2 episodes before it ends for good ?! 

Urgh, have to wait till Monday before we see father again.  Guess he is back to tie up all the loose ends and give a proper closure to everybody. 

Did anybody had that same warm fuzzy feeling whereby we saw father in the preview.. hehehe..

Okay since this is about to end I will post my overall thought on this drama. I love every character except for maybe ZX's dad. I love everything from the auntie's love for SH to the dad's love for his children. This drama started out really strong, and I really liked it compare to the drama Dear MOM. Then it became draggy, which is expected I guess due to so many episodes. I think the drama portrayed each character really well, and I wouldn't change anything about it. 

My ranking for the couple is SH, Shang Hao, the oldest sister and then MOMO. I might be the only odd ball here, but her relationship with AJ is my least favorite. I would've loved it if it was ZX. I know I know, I will probably get a lot of backlash for this. oh Well. I don't know I liked momo in the beginning, but then it just came downhill.

Looks like they really did to a time jump?  But only of 6 months.  Can't believe Daddy Wang went away for that long . . . what kind of a volunteer trip was this?  And he only took his small duffle bag with him.  That's impressive packing. 

@doctor23b, here's hoping that if the new show doesn't start until Wednesday we'll get two episodes next week.  It sure would be nice to have dad for two episodes versus one.  (Oooooh, just noticed that Viki lists 74 episodes for the drama, which would mean that it indeed ends on Tuesday.)

@xiaojies87, so nice to have you chime in.  I agree that the characters in this drama were all wonderful (with the exception of ZX's dad, of course).  I think the one thing "Bitter Sweet' had over "Dear Mom,' was that although everyone may have preferred one love line over another, there wasn't one that was actively hated as in the latter drama.  I've yet to meet anyone who was able to stomach the third sister's story in "Dear Mom."  Here, on the other hand, I liked all the siblings' stories, even though I may not have been as interested in some versus the others (like, for me, it was Wen's storyline that bored me the most -- but I didn't have to fast forward as in "Dear Mom").

Also, I totally know what you mean about Momo and ZX.  For me, I actually liked both guys a lot.  I can see the pros/cons for each pairing so whichever guy she picked, my heart was always going to be half happy for the one but half broken for the other.  So even though I'm glad AJ and Momo end up together, I do understand where you're coming from in wishing it'd been ZX.  Too bad Momo can't clone herself.    But at least ZX will always have the entire Wang family by his side, and it's sweet how he now sees Momo as his little sister. 

Looks like Shang Hao didn't agree with that though and how hilarious was it when Shang Hao was asking Fatty and Skinny to help him with AMX's dad and poor Shang Hao kept trying to fight his way into that inner circle? When he finally asked Shang Hao why he hadn't been included, Shang Hao told him it was his own fault for not going after Momo.  I was totally laughing through Shang Hao's explanation!

Finally, just thought I'd share the video for the end credit song because I like it so much.

Allright! Just finished ep 73! Great to have father back in the household.. hahah granny said she would never allow father to leave the household ever again. 

But father said this trip let him see the better side of life. How he unraveled all the emotional knots he had and how to deal with his later part of life. It sure was heartwarming to see father say '' yea i missed you guys, especially when I had no money. '' Such charisma!! 

But the part momo asked father could she continue to stay at home. I almost teared. How she still respected father and hope to hear from him that she could continue to stay in the house even though she is non blood related. But father reassurance that he would never trade anything in the world for this devoting daughter he has. Momo loveeeees fatherrr.

Cannot wait for tomorrow big day! As we put an end to this drama, which I did not had high expectations but now hold it dearly to me.. It had been a bitter sweet 3 months with the cast as well and all you forum-ers here! 

At the start it was only @themarchioness and me actively debating about this drama. Glad that we see more of you guys hoping on this drama and actively discussing it with us. Glad to hear from all of you. Great 3 months looking back on this drama and this particular soompi thread!

I couldn't have said it better, @doctor23b, this drama also stole my heart in unexpected ways.  It's the first time I've found myself following FB pages and Instagram accounts for photos/updates.  More than anything, I think I've really loved watching the offscreen relationship between the cast mates in addition to the goings on of the drama.  This weekend was particularly full of conflicting emotions, seeing all the updates from the fan meet.  On the one hand, I was happy to see everyone together in one place (even Oden Master was there!).  But, on the other, I was sad to know that it was the end.  Already Momo cut her hair shorter and I think the actress playing Wen later posted a pic that suggested she was on vacation?  Noooo, everyone stay together forever, please.  *sniffs*

Anyway, I'm excited to go home in a few hours and watch today's episode.  I'm also glad to see more people chiming in this forum and look forward to seeing things through to tomorrow's end.  (Although, for anybody who's watching with subs, happy to stick around beyond tomorrow as well since I too am watching with subs.)

Episode 73 thoughts:

- OMG, will someone please find someone for Xiang Xiang?  His storyline is seriously breaking my heart.  Er Jie, hook the man up with one of your matchmaking events!  (And way to go Show for giving me some heart attack moments.  Thank goodness it was one big fake out.  *shakes fist @ Show*)

- After watching that scene with Shang Hao, Ai Mei Xin, and her dad, I realized two things: 1) Ai Daddy is actually kind of hilarious/cute, and 2) Like father like daughter!!!  I wonder if she even realizes how much she cuts people off, just like her dad.  Heh.

- While it was really sweet watching the women of the Wang family get all emotional over watching Shang Hao perform, the two that got to me were actually Yu Fan and Peng Cheng You.  The way they watched over Shang Hao and Xiang Xiang, you could see the immense pride bursting forth from them.  It was like they were seeing their little ducklings growing their feathers and getting ready to leave the pond.  It was at that moment I thought, "Ah, there really is more than one meaning for the word, 'family.'"

- Daddy's back!!!

Awww and it's a wrap ! I just finished watching the last ep and also reading ur posts it has also been my pleasure watching the drama with you guys tho I only watch for MM-AJ and SH-AMX storyline so I have lesser things to contribute nonetheless, it was nice having company  to share my excitement and fustrations as I watched the drama  

Highlight of today! (Well at least for me hehe ) I am on mobile so I cant add it into spoiler, sorry! 

My opinions may not truly be representative of the whole drama since I dont follow all the storylines but these are just what I think. I thought this drama was okay overall hehe on my list of 80 ep dramas, it is definitely not the top (my faves are you ai yi jia ren, the very first one inborn pair and dear mum hehe) but what I liked abt the drama is that the story is not over the top not like in dear mum where the guy was an ex gangster which I still find very far fetched. But for this drama it stuck very closely to real life and did not add all the typical drama elements like gangsters and rich CEOs. So I thought that was good. Even MM being adpoted to me sounded v logical and smth that could actually happen in real life. Next I really like the actors who played AJ and MM admittedly,  both were quite stiff in some instances but overall they managed to capture the naunces of their characters and was able to portray them well, MM being the wont stand your nonsense practical kind of girl and AJ being the girly but super caring kinda guy. Hope to see them more in future projects and hopefully by then they will be more natural ~ 

My criticism for this drama would definitely be the dad. Initially I thought his departure was v sudden and abrupt and tbh made no sense. But I dismissed it thinking maybe the writers are up to smth. But reading from the posts in the forum, it seems like he is busy with his other projects in China so he is unable to return to this drama? Correct me if I am wrong but if that is ture, as a viewer I feel so wronged like I dont like the fact that the narrative of the story was jeopardised coz of production errors that could have been easily avoided. If the actor knew there was gonna be scheduling conflicts he should not have signed on in the first place or take on other proj in the mean time. The director should also not have approached him if he/she knew of this. Well the father returning in the last two eps did not manage to turn the situation ard but just prevented it from turning worse. In fact, it kinda pointed the difference his absence made. During the fashback scenes of the dad and family, I noticed that other than MM the other siblings had the chance to get closer to the dad. But because the dad left, MM had no father to lean on during the empress incident. I am sure there were plans to do so (it's only logical) but they could not fulfil it due to the actor leaving.

Thanks once again guys for accompanying on this journey! Maybe we will see each other in the next drama ? For now idt I will be watching the next one idl the main leads (the actress is the one who played the eldest sister in dear mum, lolz she always plays the eldest sis or the single mum with a kid) but if the other couples are cute/their stories look interesting maybe I will be tuning in hehe, till then bye guys and thanks for everything!

What a wrap, momo finally acknowledged empress and called her mother. An jie was being sneaky and wanted another attempt at a kiss. But i guess this is cool , I loved the ending whereby everybody ran together and father was like summarising up everything for everybody! But I was thinking , would the dinning table be too full if everybody had to stick together for breakfast later on! Hahaha. 

 

Great 3 months with everybody! Hopefully the next drama do not disappoint!

The final episode with subs was released by Dramafever yesterday so now my experience with "Bitter Sweet" truly is at an end.  I think everyone's moved on by now, but just wanted to express my enjoyment at having had your company all these months.  Hope to run into you all on other threads!

P.S. I watched the movie, "100 Days," with Tracy Chou the other weekend and I was totally amused to discover that her character was a wood carver.  Guess it runs in the fam.
