and why isn't Sandeul a part of this list?

Personally, Sandeul has always been a good singer so it was not a surprise for me to see him behind the mask. But I am glad a lot of the other Korean audiences got to see past the "idol" status. The author of this article probably feels the same way- "A tense finale saw her pitted against B1A4’s Sandeul. Now if there is one thing you have to say about B1A4, whether you are a fan or not, it is that those five boys can sing – and arguably better than most boy bands out there."

In comparison, I was surprised timmydee couldn't identify A Pink's Eunji immediately, which made her performance memorable for him. I watched her in "Trot Singers," like Mrs. timmydee did, so I knew she had the skills to pull off those ballads by herself.

the biggest surprise for me was definitely Hong Suk Chun. I had no idea that he could sing that well, and with such beautiful timbre too. Seriously that man can do anything, he's so talented!

The author listed his most memorable moments, not necessarily the best vocal skills- though there are overlaps.

Personally, Hongki's performance wasn't as memorable compared to other performances- NOT because he can't sing (he sings well), but because I knew it was him from the get go so it took the fun out of guessing. The singers timmydee listed here, except Eunji, were surprises. Would also add Hong Suk Chun as he was totally unexpected.

personally i think Hongki did excellence job because his performance went viral in Korea and his name in search ranking on that day. that was how the original singer(Jo Jang Hyuk) find out about this. he said he very thankful to Hongki for singing his song and make new generation aware of his song. addicted to love also the most popular song to sing that week in Seoul karaoke bars. Melon also released his version on their chart. Masked Singer DP also pick Hongki as one of the talented idol singers recently. i won't say his performance was not as memorable as others tbh.

No offense but no love to contestant besides idol singer? lol
For me, Im Se-Jun lovely R&B performances were really memorable.. Even Baek Jiyoung said she wanted to sign him (maybe just a joke); K.Will said if he is an idol, everyone should know him
And Jang Hye-jin? I remember after the 2nd song from her, everyone among the guest was in complete silent with the sad performance. She managed to trick everyone from her 1st performance that she is a trot singer.
But.. yeah I'm kinda agree some of the idol singers were quite unexpectedly good. ChangMin was not that surprising because he was well-known for his higher note of harmony in both 2AM and Homme
