I don't think this is entirely accurate. From what I remember Lee Joon and Mir were always in charge of variety as they were the ones always on variety shows. I just think he has lost confidence in his variety skills and is under a lot of stress and pressure to succeed and do well for this comeback because if they can't comeback strong they may lose more than they already have, plus they already had to cut promotions short because of GO's vocal nodules.
On a side note, I really like their comeback, however, in my opinion, it feels awkward to see Mir as kind of a lone back-up dancer until his part, like a featuring artist who is on stage before his part. However, the album is awesome. Mir화이팅! MBLAQ 화이팅!!!
