MAMAMOO Shares Thoughts on Joining Upcoming War of Girl Groups

Recommended Posts

Ahead of the release of their second mini-album “Pink Funky,” MAMAMOO shared their thoughts on the upcoming war of girl groups as SISTARGirls’ GenerationAOAGirl’s Day, and 9MUSES are expected to make a comeback between this month and the next.

On June 18, MAMAMOO held a showcase at the Ilji Art Hall in Gangnam where they performed numbers from their impending album.

Wheein remarked, “I heard that a lot of girl groups are making a comeback. We are going to try hard in order to survive. We are still a new group, so it’s an honor to be on the same stage with our sunbaes (seniors).”

“We’ve never had one group that we thought of as our rival,” member Hwasa added. “Everyone is our rival. Our agency is counting on us. The other groups are all very distinguished, so it seems like we will have to showcase our unique color.”

The title track for "Pinky Funky," “Um Oh Ah Yeah,” was written by songwriter Kim Do Hoon, while MAMAMOO members contributed to the lyrics. Chris Gehringer, who has worked with artists like Rihanna and Lady Gaga, participated in mastering the track.
