"Assassination" Film Starring Jun Ji Hyun and Lee Jung Jae Cancels Press Conference Due to MERS Concerns

A press conference for the highly anticipated action blockbuster "Assassination" has been cancelled due to concerns over the spread of MERS. The film stars A-list actors Jun Ji Hyun, Lee Jung Jae, and Ha Jung Woo as members of a team that is preparing to carry out an assassination. The movie is set in historical Seoul and Shanghai, and is slated to be released in July. assassination Regarding the cancellation of the scheduled June 10 press conference, representatives from the film said on June 8, "Due to the domestic spread of MERS, we were unable to avoid changing our plans." It's expected that the cancelled press conference will be rescheduled for a later date. This isn't the first instance in which a film industry event has been cancelled due to MERS. A showcase of the new film "Intimate Enemies" by director Im Sang Soo was scheduled at a university in Seoul, but it was also called off. There have so far been no reported cases of MERS that were transmitted outside of a hospital, but many in the country are highly concerned about potentially contracting the disease in public places. In order to avoid the further spread of MERS, nearly 2,000 schools remain closed in Korea, and over 2,500 people are being kept in quarantine.
