Newsie
MBC's new Wednesday-Thursday drama "The Scholar Who Walks the Night" starring Lee Jun Ki, Kim So Eun, TVXQ's Changmin, and Lee Yoo Bi, will follow up "Agreeably Warm" and air in July. According to MBC on May 6, the historical vampire drama based on a webtoon by the same name has been confirmed to air in July. The popular original webtoon is still ongoing, and the conclusion has not been reached for the drama. "The Scholar Who Walks the Night" is a fantasy historical melodrama telling the story of Cho Yang Seon, a girl who cross-dresses to sell books, as she meets Kim Sung Yeol, a mysterious scholar who is later revealed to be a vampire. Although the story is set in the Joseon Dynasty, the exact time period in history is not specified, and it will deal with fictional characters instead of being confined by historical facts. The drama also involves a number of other characters including Lee Yoon, the Crown Prince who is secretly an anonymous novelist, and Hye Ryeong, the daughter of an influential family. The staff said, "While the drama will actively bring charming points from the original webtoon, it will also have a fuller story and new characters, so it will have a different type of fun as well." They added, "Since the original story doesn't have an ending yet, the ending of the drama will have its own charm as well. Above anything else, it's a fantasy melodrama with innocent and youthful romance with the addition of the vampire element."
